This year’s Championships will feature thirteen teams representing five states from around Australia plus the Australian Defence Force.

SOCIAL CALENDAR FOR PARTICIPANTS
ACT Water Polo Association has organised a social calendar for all the teams attending the Australian Country Water Polo Championships. A seven day Polo Pass is being offered to all players attending the championships for $40 and $20 for team officials. COMPETITION RULES
1. Teams: Up to 15 players can be used during the Tournament. However only the 13 players named in the teams FIRST game will be eligible for Semis and Finals.
2. Eligibility: All players must have satisfied their respective State Association qualification conditions.
3. Starting Times: Match cards must be completed and teams must be ready to commence at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time.
4. Caps: The first named teams shall wear white caps and commence match at the far end of the pool. At the AIS we will be playing 2 games at any one time, so the rule above is for both playing fields.
5. Officials: Referees will be appointed by Gary Payne/ Rene Bol – Referees Coordinator. Assistance with timekeepers will be required. Table secretaries will be provided by the team from previous match wearing white caps, excepting the first match of each session to be provided by a volunteer. Goal judges will be provided by clubs from previous match wearing blue caps, excepting the first match of each session to be provided by ACT Water Polo.
*** Please note – ACT Water Polo will require assistance with timekeepers and table officials. Any volunteers would be appreciated.
6. Match Times: Preliminary Round matches will be 4 x 6 minutes actual play. Semi Final Rounds and Final Rounds will be 4 x 7 minutes actual play for teams ranked 1-4 and 4 x 6 minutes actual play for teams ranked 5-8. Extra time will only be necessary for Semi Final and Final playoffs and will be 2 x 3 minute actual play. If the scores are still even then penalty shoot out procedure will apply with the next goal being the decider.
7. Points: Win - 3, Draw - 2, Loss - 1, Forfeit/Disqualification – 0 (5-0 unless margin is greater).
8. Group Positions: Positions will be decided on points. If two teams are level on points then FINA BL 8.6.3 will be followed: BL 8.6.3 Tie Breaking BL 8.6.3.1 If two (2) teams shall have equal points, further classification shall be established as follows: BL 8.6.3.1.1 The team winning the game between them shall be placed higher. BL 8.6.3.1.2 If the game between them was tied, then the results against the highest placed team(s) in the group shall be considered. BL 8.6.3.1.3 The first comparison shell be based on goal difference, and if still tied, then based upon goals scored. BL 8.6.3.1.4 The comparison shall be made first compared to the highest team (or teams, if tied) in the group. BL 8.6.3.1.5 If still tied, the results against the next highest placed team, (or teams, it tied) shall be used in succession until all results have been considered. BL 8.6.3.1.6 If still tied, the teams shall shoot penalty shots to determine which team shall be placed higher. Each team shall nominate five (5) players and a goalkeeper who will participate in the penalty shootout. The team shall shoot five (5) penalty shots at the goal of the other team, alternating shots. If a tie exists after each team has taken five (5) shots, then teams shall take sets of alternate shots until one team scores and the other does not. The procedure shall be conducted following the final game of the round or at the first practical opportunity. BL 8.6.3.1.7 If there is more than one tie in a group, the highest placed tie shall be determined first.

BL 8.6.3.2 If three (3) or more teams shall have equal points, further classification shall be established as follows: BL 8.6.3.2.1 The results among the tied teams shall determine which team is placed highest. BL 8.6.3.2.3 The comparison shall be made first, upon the points of the games among the tied teams, second, the goal difference, and third, based upon goals scored. BL 8.6.3.2.4 If still tied, the games played against the highest team (or teams, if tied) shall be considered. BL 8.6.3.2.5 The first comparison shall be based on goal difference, and if still tied, then based on goals scored. BL 8.6.3.2.6 If still tied, the results against the next highest placed team, (or teams, if tied) shall be used in succession until all results have been considered. BL 8.6.3.2.7 If still tied, the teams shall shoot penalty shots to determine which team shall be placed highest. Each team shall nominate five (5) players and a goalkeeper who will participate in the penalty shootout. Each team shall shoot five (5) penalty shots at its opponent’s goal in alternate succession. The first team shall take its first penalty shot and then each other team shall take its first penalty shot, etc. If a tie shall exist after that procedure, the teams shall then take sets of alternate shots until one team misses and the other team(s) score. The procedure shall be conducted following the final game of the round or at the first practical opportunity. BL 8.6.3.2.8 If there is more than one tie in a group, the highest placed tie shall be determined first.
Appeals, Protests & Judiciary
The Operations Manager or the duly appointed representative of AWPI at the event shall be the Chairman of the Judiciary/Appeals Committee, and shall appoint two (2) other persons to be members of the Committee for any required hearing from the following persons in order of preference: members of the Board of AWPI; delegates of members; members of the governing bodies of members; members of the Australian Referees’ Panel; or any other member of a Member Body provided that the Chairman shall refrain from appointing a person to the committee to investigate and decide upon a matter in which a player, official or team from that person’s own state or club as appropriate to these Championships is involved.
The Judiciary/Appeals Committee so established shall investigate and decide upon the following matters as it sees fit; any protest or appeal relative to these Championships; any player (or team official) reported for misconduct; or other offence during these Championships.
The Judiciary Committee shall meet within twenty four hours and if possible, prior to the next game involving the parties concerned, or during the same day of receipt of the appeal, protest or report, and shall hear evidence from the parties to any appeal or protest, the referee or official reporting a player (or team official) and the player (or team official) so reported. The Committee may call for evidence from other persons as it deems fit, and may take into account video recordings of events, if available. The Committee shall follow procedures for hearing evidence, and shall take into account guidelines for penalties for proven offences, as determined by the Board and approved by the Member Bodies. The Judiciary Committee shall decide upon the matter before it within one (1) hour of the completion of the hearing, and shall make its decision public.
An appeal or protest relative to these Championships must be made to the Operations Manager or the duly appointed representative of AWPI present at the event, in writing by the Captain or Captains of the team or teams concerned, accompanied in each instance by a fee of twenty dollars ($20.00), and within one (1) hour of the completion of the match.
A referee or official reporting a player (or team official) for misconduct or any other offence shall do so in writing within one (1) hour of the completion of the match to the Operations Manager or the duly appointed representative of AWPI present at the event.
A player charged with disrespect, misconduct or any other offence by a referee or an official is suspended until the player appears before the Judiciary Committee convened to investigate the charge.
