Region: France – Cahors Grape: 100% Malbec (traditionally called Auxerrois or Côt Noir) Bottle Price: £13.50 Serve at: 14 - 16.5°

Highly regarded locally and our favourite grower of the region from our recent tour, this is the top gun wine at this historic vineyard in Prayssac in the Cahors region of south west France. The vineyard has been in the family for over 300 years, some of the vines are over 120 years old. Almost black in colour with purple hints. Complex aromas of , smoke and dried fruits. On the palate, earthy flavours of wild red berries with gamey notes are drawn in by the warm tannins. An elegant and intense red.

Food pairings: Roast leg of lamb with juniper berries or goose stuffed with chestnuts.

Clos de Gamot - Le Gamotin 2015

Region: France – Cahors Grape: 100% Malbec (traditionally called Auxerrois or Côt Noir) Bottle Price: £9.95 Serve at: 14 - 16.5°

This wine is considered as the little brother of Clos de Gamot mentioned above. The Gamotin is a more crunchy, younger and a little more determined wine, with the signature Jouffreau house style.

Food matches: Confit duck or Entrecote.

Michel Gassier - Nostre Pais Rouge 2014

Region: France – Costières de Nîmes Grape: 35% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre 5% Cinsault Bottle Price: £12.50 Serve at: 14 - 16.5°

The brother to the beautiful Nostre Pais white in the case, this red exhibits notes of cherry, black fruit, with a touch of violet and garrigue herbs. Medium-bodied, silky and complex, this is an elegant, food-friendly wine. The dense and velvety body fills the palate and reveals notes of cacao, dried herbs and pencil lead. The fresh and fruity finish is heightened by mineral notes and fine tannins. An excellent quality dinner wine.

Food matches: Try with Veal, Duck or Lamb – or if you are feeling adventurous, you can enjoy this wine with a Dark Chocolate puddings.
