His hopes are not in vain, however, for one day industrialist Herbert Greenleaf asks him to travel to Italy to persuade his wayward son, Dickie, to return to America. From this moment on, Tom’s life changes completely. Once he arrives in Amalfi Tom quickly makes friends with Dickie and his fiancée, Marge. Together they enjoy a life of dolce far niente typical for rich Americans in Italy during the late fifties, spending their time hanging out in jazz clubs or sailing out to sea. But Tom, whom Dickie treats with scathing condescension, is up to no good. While out rowing together one day Tom kills Dickie, steals his papers and starts leading a double life. Living under a false name is far from easy.Under constant threat that Marge, their mutual friends or the police might at any moment blow his cover,Tom feels increasingly boxed into a corner. The only way he can survive is to kill Filmografie again . 1987 THE STORYTELLER TV-Serie,9 Folgen,Regie:Jim Henson,Steve Barron,Autor MONSIEUR RIPLEY 1989 LIVING WITH DINOSAURS Tom Ripley, modeste accordeur de pianos new-yorkais, rêve d’une existence TV-Film,Regie:Paul Weiland,Autor facile dans le luxe. Introduction At the era of Artificial Intelligence, billions of words are needed to train, fine-tune and test Neural Machine Translation systems (Koehn and Knowles, 2017; Linzen, 2020). Quality assessment of the models therefore requires the creation of a lot of annotated corpora. Several studies questioned the quality of those corpora, in terms of reliability and reproducibility in Bregeon et al. (2019), comparability in Echart et al.

  • Shakespeare Uncovered Viewing Guide
© 2013 WNET. All rights reserved. Teaching Colleagues, Shakespeare Uncovered, a six-part series airing on PBS beginning on January 25 th , is a teacher’s dream come true. Each episode gives us something that we teachers almost never get: a compelling, lively, totally accessible journey through and around a Shakespeare play, guided by brilliant and plain-spoken experts--all within one hour. I’m not given to endorsements, but oh, I love this series. Why will we teachers love it and why do we need it? • Because, as we learned from the very start of the Folger Library’s Teaching Shakespeare Institute, teachers tend to be more confident, better teachers if they have greater and deeper knowledge of the plays themselves. • Because no matter what our relationship with the plays – we love them, we struggle with them, we’re tired of teaching the same ones, we’re afraid of some of them – we almost never have the time to learn more about them. We are teachers, after all: always under a deadline, we’re reading, grading, prepping, mindful of the next deadline. (And then there’s the rest of our lives . ) Shakespeare Uncovered is your chance to take a deep, pleasurable dive into a handful of plays—ones you know well, others that may be less familiar to you. In six episodes, Shakespeare Uncovered takes on eight plays: Macbeth, Hamlet, The Tempest, Richard II, Twelfth Night and As You Like It, Henry IV, Part I, and Henry V . The host of each episode has plenty of Shakespeare cred--Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Irons, Joely Richardson and her mom, Vanessa Redgrave, for example--but each wants to learn more about the play.

  • THIRTEEN's Shakespeare Uncovered
Press Contact: Harry Forbes, WNET 212-560-8027 or [email protected] Press materials: www.thirteen.org/pressroom THIRTEEN’s Shakespeare Uncovered (w.t.), a Six-Film Series Telling the Stories Behind Shakespeare’s Greatest Plays, Coming to PBS in 2013 Joely Richardson, Ethan Hawke, Derek Jacobi, David Tennant, Jeremy Irons, and Trevor Nunn are hosts In a unique series of six films coming to PBS in Winter/Spring 2013, Shakespeare Uncovered (w.t.) will combine history, biography, iconic performances, new analysis, and the personal passion of its celebrated hosts – Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Irons, Derek Jacobi, Trevor Nunn, Joely Richardson, and David Tennant – to tell the story behind the stories of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. Produced by Richard Denton for Blakeway Productions & THIRTEEN for WNET in association with the BBC and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, each episode explores and reveals the extraordinary world and works of William Shakespeare and their still potent impact today. The films combine interviews with actors, directors, and scholars, along with visits to key locations, clips from some of the most celebrated film and television adaptations, and illustrative excerpts from the plays especially staged for the series at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. Behind every Shakespeare play there is a story: for instance, how he and his company dismantled their theatre and rowed it across the river Thames when the landlord cancelled their lease – and then staged Henry V for the first time. Shakespeare was in show business – drawing on historical sources, stealing ideas, bringing back popular characters, and picking up dramatic ideas from the news of the day.

  • The Artist This February 'Love Is in the Air' in the Library. What Better Way To
This February ‘love is in the air’ in the library. What better way to enjoy Valentine’s Day than curled up on your couch watching a movie? From modern favourites to timeless classics, there are countless movies in the romance genre, so here at the Learning Curve we’re here to help you narrow them down. Get ready to laugh, cry, swoon, and everything in between with your favourite hunks, lovers, and heroines. Whether you're taking some ‘me time’ or cuddled up with that special someone, here at the library we have a great selection of DVDs. These can all be found on popular streaming services or borrowed from the library using our Click & Collect Service once lockdown is over. Be sure to have popcorn and tissues at the ready! The Artist Director: Michel Hazanavicius Actors: Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Penelope Ann Miller The Artist is a love letter and homage to classic black-and-white silent films. The film is enormously likable and is anchored by a charming performance from Jean Dujardin, as silent movie star George Valentin. In late-1920s Hollywood, as Valentin wonders if the arrival of talking pictures will cause him to fade into oblivion, he makes an intense connection with Peppy Miller, a young dancer set for a big break. As one career declines, another flourishes, and by channelling elements of A Star Is Born and Singing in the Rain, The Artist tells the engaging story with humour, melodrama, romance, and--most importantly--silence. As wonderful as the performances by Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo (Miller) are, the real star of The Artist is cinematographer Guillaume Schiffman.
