  • Chapter 1: What Do You Know About Being a Psychopath?
1 Chapter 1: What do you know about being a Psychopath? “Do I have any stories about what it’s like to conduct a forensic interview with a diagnosable psychopath?” I repeated the question asked by one of my inquisitive students in class. A thoughtful smile played on my face as I remembered my long and intense career of interviewing those referred to me for forensic evaluations. “Well, something like that would take quite a bit of our class time to tell.” I glanced around the room only to be greeted with looks of disappointment. These undergraduate forensic psychology students obviously didn’t care if I wasted an entire class period ranting about a time I interviewed a psychopath. I mean, they were interested and I supposed that that was the main reason most of those students were there in my forensic classes anyway—they wanted to learn about the media popular psychopath. I suppose I was feeling particularly generous and decided, “What harm could it do to indulge the student’s request?” In my mind, the story I was about to tell would weed out the men from the boys, as the old saying goes. Every year I get students coming into my class expecting a fabulous job (as portrayed by the media) when in fact, being a Forensic Psychologist is rather boring most days. On a rare occasion, I’ll get a real wacko. However, on this one particular case, I was assigned to the most monstrous human being I’d ever met in my life—and probably ever will meet.

Findings could serve as a roadmap for further investigations and potentially inform efforts to prevent physician suicide. Methods: Ovid MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Scopus were searched for English-language publications from August 21, 2017 through April 28, 2018. Inclusion criteria were a primary outcome or thesis focused on suicide (including suicide completion, attempts, and thoughts or ideation) among medical students, postgraduate trainees, or attending physicians. Opinion articles were included. Studies that were non-English or those that only mentioned physician burnout, mental health, or substance use disorders were excluded. Data extraction was performed by two authors. Results: The search yielded 1,596 articles, of which 347 articles passed to the full-text review round.

Capital punishment - Wikipedia 17.08.17, 1130 Capital punishment From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a government sanctioned practice whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. The sentence that someone be punished in such a manner is referred to as a death sentence, whereas the act of carrying out the sentence is known as an execution. Crimes that are punishable by death are known as capital crimes or capital offences, and they commonly include offences such as murder, treason, espionage, war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Etymologically, the term capital (lit. "of the head", derived via the Latin capitalis from caput, "head") in this context alluded to execution by beheading.[1] Fifty-six countries retain capital punishment, 103 countries have completely abolished it de jure for all crimes, six have abolished it for ordinary crimes (while maintaining it for special circumstances such as war crimes), and 30 are abolitionist in practice.[2] Capital punishment is a matter of active controversy in various countries and states, and positions can vary within a single political ideology or cultural region. In the European Union, Article 2 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union prohibits the use of capital punishment.[3] Also, the Council of Europe, which has 47 member states, prohibits the use of the death penalty by its members. The United Nations General Assembly has adopted, in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014,[4] non-binding

Low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels of the serotonin metabolite 5-HIAA and the dopamine metabolite HVA have been associated with suicidal behaviour, impulsivity, and aggression. This thesis investigated associations between the season of birth, the CSF levels of three monoamine metabolites (including MHPG of norepinephrine), the scales of the diagnostic interview for borderline patients (DIB), and psychiatric diagnoses.
