Download Application Notice Here GUYANA ELECTIONS COMMISSION LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS APPLICATION FOR PROXY The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) commenced accepting application for proxies for voting at Local Government Elections on Monday, October 15, 2018. WHO CAN APPLY TO VOTE BY PROXY A voter is entitled to vote by proxy at the upcoming Local Government Elections if he/she is unable to go to the Polling Station where he/she is listed to vote on Election Day based on any one of the following circumstances. • Any voter who is blind or has any other physical disability that would prevent him/her to go in person at the Polling Station to vote. • Any voter who is a member of the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Defence Force, Rural Constable, or is a member of a Town Constabulary. • Any voter who is an employee of the Transport and Harbours Department and would be engaged in the running of a vessel on Election Day. • The voter who is a Candidate at the Elections and he /she would be unable to go in person to the Polling Station at which he is entitled to vote because he is engaged in any activity connected to Elections. • Any voter who is an Election Officer who is working for the Elections in a Local Authority Area / Constituency other than the one in which he/she is listed to vote. • Any voter for whom it is likely to be impractical or seriously inconvenient, by reason of the general nature of his / her occupation, service or employment or for the good cause, to go in person to the Polling Station where he / she is entitled to vote. NOTE: The Applicant/ voter and proxy /voter must be listed in the same List of Electors to vote at the same Polling Station. Application to vote by Proxy can be uplifted from and submitted to the under mentioned Offices of the Returning Officer for the Municipality or Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), in which the applicant (voter) is listed to vote. EVENT: As a result of heavy and continuous rainfall over the last 48 hours, several areas in all ten (10) Regions of Guyana were reported to be flooded. Isolated thunderstorm can be expected over some coastal and near inland areas (regions 2 to 6 and 10). Flash floods can be expected in flood prone areas of regions 2 to 6 and 10 as a result of the heavy rainfall. Rainfall is expected to be between 0.1mm and 30.0mm today, May 08, 2012. IMPACT Total loss and the total number of persons affected to date are yet to be determined. AREAS AFFECTED Region 1 - BARIMA-WAINI The Regional Executive Officer advised that there were no reports of flooding in this region except for Barabina Village as a result of high tide.
