A REPORT ON 34TH AKHILA BHARATA HARIDASA SAMMELANA AND ARADHANA CELEBRATIONS OF SHRI PURANDARA DASARU Date: 31st January, 2011 to 3rd February, 2011 Venue: Shri Purandara Ashrama, Om Nagar PO-518349, Adoni Tq, Kurnool Dist, AP. It gives us immense pleasure to let you know that the 34th Akhila Bharata Haridasa Sammelana & ArAdhana Celebration of Shri Purandara Dasaru was celebrated with pomp & glory and it was a great success. The 4 day event was a feast to eyes, ears & mind. During the 4 day event, Haribhaktas were treated to a host of events like Shri Vittala Devara Pooja by Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Pejavara Adhokshaja MaTha, Anugraha Sandesha of Shri Swamiji, Lectures by eminent scholars, Shri Shrinivasa Kalyana through Dasa Sahitya, Homas, Harikatha, Music Concerts, Devaranamas, Suladi PaThana among others. Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji was so impressed by the tranquil atmosphere in & around Ashrama that he whole-heartedly blessed the Ashrama to emerge as ‘Naimisharanya’ of the South (Please visit www.sripurandaraashrama.org to listen to Shri Swamiji’s anugraha sandesha). The programme started on Ekadashi itself (30th January, 2011) with Jagarotsava led by Shri Pranesh Mundarigi, Shri Varaha Hari Vittala Dasaru & Shri S.B.Chenji followed by Navagraha Homa & Teertha Prasada on Dwadashi (31st January, 2011). Later in the evening, the Sammelana was flagged off through a procession of deities of Shri Hari-Vayu-GurugaLu worshiped by Shri GURU JAGANNATHA DASARU from a place 1 furlong from Ashrama with Bhajana Mandali's singing devaranamas to the tune of Vadyas and Haribhaktas dancing in ecstasy to please Lord & His team. After paying obeisance to Pratisthapita Hari-Vayu-GurugaLu at Sanctum-Sanctorum, the procession came towards Shri Purandara Mantapa. After Veda Ghosha & prayers through Dasa Sahitya, Vedamurthy Vidwan Shri Pushkara Prasad Acharya who adorned Adhyaksha Sthana lit the lamp along with Vidwan Shri K.Appanacharya & Shri Khagavaradhwaja Vittala Dasaru, Chief Guests, in front of Shri Hari-Vayu-Gurugalu praying for the success of Sammelana. Later Shri Hari Narayana Vittala Dasaru read out the anugraha sandesha from Shri Shri 1008 Shri Suyateendra Teertha Swamiji, Raghavendra Swamy MaTha, Mantralayam praying his upasya murthy Shri Moola Ramachandra for the success of ABH Sammelana and also the anugraha sandeshas from Shri 1008 Shri Vishwanandana Teertha Swamiji, Bangalore and Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vidyatma Teertha Swamiji, Teertharaja Prayaga MaTha. Shri HNV Dasaru further provided an update on the purpose of setting up Ashrama, the achievements so far, the short & long term goals. This was followed by lectures of Shri Appannacharyaru & Shri Pushkara Prasad Acharya and Bharata Natyam by Kumari Pratyusha of Anantapur. Next day – Poorvaradhana (1st February, 2011) - the programme started at Brahmi-Muhurta with Udayaraga & Hari Guru Chintana under the guidance of Vidwan Shri Appannacharyaru. Later Haribhaktas participated in samoohika Vijaya Kavacha recitation. This was followed by lectures of Shri Khagavaradhwaja Vittala Dasaru of Mysore, Shri Varaha Hari Vittala Dasaru of Mandya & Shri Pushkara Prasad Acharya in the morning session. In parallel, Rutviks from Bangalore performed Pavamana Homa & Dhanvantari Homa in 2 different Homa kundas. The evening session had lectures of Chi. Niranjanacharya of Srirangam, Shri Murlidharachayra of Srirangam & Shri Pushkara Prasad Acharya followed by Harikatha on Shri Purandara Dasaru by Smt. Shakuntala M.Sanjeev of Mudhol. The highlight of Poorvaradhana day was the lecture of Chi. Niranjanacharya, a 10 year old scholar, Son of Shri Murlidharacharya, Srirangam – who spoke excellently on Shri Vijaya Dasaru & explained the 2nd Sloka (lakshmIkanta samanta…) of Shri Hari Vayu Stuti and Shri Harikathamrutasara recitation of Chi. Kruthi, a 11 year old girl, daughter of Shri Muralidharacharya, Srirangam - who could recite any padya of Shri Harikathamrutasara, reciting each sandhi in a different style. The ArAdhana day of Shri Purandara Dasaru (2nd February, 2011) was very special – H.H. Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji, Sr. Pontiff of Pejavara Adhokshaja MaTha, Udupi blessed the Ashrama with his gracious presence. Shri Swamiji arrived from Bangalore in the early hours and within no time got into his routine - Aahnhika & paTha to VidyapITha students who were visiting Ashrama. In parallel, the Haribhaktas involved themselves in Udayaraga, Parayana & Yayavara Seva led by Shri Appannacharyaru & Shri Varaha Hari Vittala Dasaru. At around 8.30 a.m., Shri Swamiji started Samsthana Pooja and as he is known for his timeliness completed the Pooja of Shri Vittala Devaru and other Deities around 10.30 a.m. In parallel, Rutviks from Bangalore performed Shrisukta Homa & Shri Vishnusahasranama Homa in 2 different Homa kundas. Around 10.30 a.m., the organizing committee invited Shri Swamiji to Shri Purandara Mantapa. Shri Harinarayana Vittala Dasaru inviting & greeting Shri Swamiji in his brief talk, recounted how he got benefited by Shri Vidyamanya Teertha Swamiji & Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji in the "initial stages & there after" of his Sadhana life and why he considers both of them his Gurus. Shri HNV Dasaru also explained the purpose of the Ashrama/project details/goals & requested Shri Swamiji to put his abhaya hasta for the success of the Project & intended Satkaryas. Later Shri Swamiji released the Souvenir and launched the revamped Ashrama website. This was followed by lectures of Shri Harinarayana Vittala Dasaru, Shri Varaha Hari Vittala Dasaru, Shri RadhaKrishnacharya of Anantapur, Shri Sadananda Sastry of Anantapur. Later as things were getting ready for Alankara Pankti, Maha Mangalarati, etc., Smt. Parimala Vyasarao & her daughter Veena enthralled the audience with their Music Concert. After the Alankara Pankti, Haribhaktas close to 700-800 were treated to "Suruchi, Ruchira, Sugandha, Surasopeta, & Hrudya" Bhojana. Shri Swamiji left to Raichur around 4.30 p.m. after giving Phala Mantrakshate to all the Haribhaktas. In the evening, Shri Shrinivasa Kalyana Mahotsava commenced under the leadership of Shri Appannacharyaru, Ex-Spl. Officer, Dasa Sahitya Project, TDD & Vamshikaru of Shri Guru Jagannatha Vittala Dasaru of Kautala, assisted by Vidwan Shri Sadananda Shastry, Anantapur . The unique aspect of this Kalyana Mahotsava was that all the rituals were carried out through supporting dasa padas. This was followed by excellent and thrilling Nrutya Karyakrama by Kumari T.K.Bhavya, Anantapur. On the final day – 3rd Feburary, 2011 – uttarArAdhana, the programme started with Udayaraga & Hari Guru Chintana followed by lectures of Shri Vadirajacharya, Principal, Guru Sarvabhowma VidyapeeTha, Mantralayam, Shri Chincholi Shrinivasacharya, Bangalore & Archaka Shri Parimalacharya, of Mantralayam. Later Shri Satyanarayana Pooja was conducted, followed by Teertha Prasada & Phala-Mantrakshate Vitarane. In short, the 4 day event was a divine experience for all those who attended. The organizing committee offers their heartfelt gratitude to :- a. H.H. Swamijis Shri Shri 1008 Shri Suyateendra Teertha Swamiji, Peethadipati of Shri Raghavendra Swamy MaTha, Mantralayam & Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vishvanandana Teertha Swamiji, Shrikshetra Hanasoge Madhwa MaTha and Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vidyatma Teertha Swamiji, Teertharaja Prayaga MaTha for sending their ‘Anugraha Sandesha’ for the successful conduct of the function. c. H.H. Shri Shri 1008 Shri Vignyananidhi Teertha Swamiji, Peethadipati of Shri Shripadaraja MaTha, Bangalore, for graciously offering donation of Rs. 2,00,000.00 for Shri Purandaraashrama. d. All the Scholars who accepted our invitation and offered their valuable Vangmaya Seva to Shri Hari - Vayu – Gurugalu. e. Shri Vyasa Bhajana Mandali (SVBM) Bay Area, California, USA for the valuable donation on the ocasssion of ‘PRATISTHAPANA’ and 34th ABHS & Shri Purandara Dasara Aaradhana function. f. Rutviks who performed as many as 5 Homas – Navagraha, Pavamana, Dhanvantari, Shrisukta, Shri Vishnusahasranama & Shri Sathyanarayana Pooja. g. Shri Appannacharyaru & his team for conducting Shri Shrinivasa Kalyana Mahotsava befittingly. h. All the artists for their performance viz., Harikatha, Sangeetha & Nrutya Seva at the Lotus Feet of Lord Shri Hari. i. All the trustees of ABHS for having contributed towards the cost of constructing a room in the name of “Parama Poojya Shri Gurugovinda Vittala Dasaru” at Shri Purandara Ashrama. j. All the Donors who donated cash & kind substantially for the successful conduct of the function besides those who contributed individually and through receipt books. k. Shri M.G. Madhava Rao & Guru bandhavas for having facilitated the “Darshana of ARCHA MOORTHYS” worshiped by our Poojya Guruji, Shri Gurugovinda Vittala Dasaru of Mysore for the devotees. l. Shri Raghuprema MaThaigi, Shri Ram Mandir, Adoni, for having spontaneously obliged in providing cooking utensils for Aaradhana function. m. Shri Giri Sir Desai of Shri Raghuprema Teertha Agencies, Adoni, for having coordinated the Aashrama activities in many respects from inception of the Aashrama through now. n. Shri Parthasaarathi and his Cooking team for preparing delicious food on time. o. All the volunteers from Shri Poorna Prajna VidyapeeTha & other places. p.
