Honored Eileen Doran ‘86J.D., co-director of the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic and associate professional specialist in law at NDLS, was honored by the Indiana Supreme Court in February for her long-standing service to the court’s Indiana Pro Bono Commission. The court and the Indiana Bar Foundation appointed Eileen to the commission, which seeks to encourage pro bono civil legal work for the poor by Indiana attorneys, in 1998. Faculty Resources Faculty who have recently provided commentaries on current issues in the law include the following: ‚ Steven Smith, Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law, believes that the Bush administration’s faith-based service initiatives are constitutional. ‚ Professor Dinah Shelton and Associate Professor Paolo Carozza, comment that the trial of two Libyans for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, has helped create new guidelines for international law.

Father Mike Show: a student-run event held in the spring which includes an evening of music and comedy that spotlights the Law School’s talent and raises money for scholarships. HeinOnline: 50 million pages of legal research material, accessible online through Kresge Library The Hoynes Code: An academic code system governing Notre Dame Law School, including a compilation of faculty resolutions and administrative regulations. HLSA: (pronounced “halsa”) Hispanic Law Students Association ITA: Intensive Trial Advocacy program that takes place in august and January during the week before regular classes begin. J.D.: stands for Juris Doctor (J.D. or JD), is the degree that most of our students are studying Journals: American Journal of Jurisprudence (Natural Law Institute) The Natural Law Institute, a function of the Notre Dame Law School, was established in 1947.
