The novelty of social networks limits the amount of research currently available on the topic, restricting information on the pedagogical repercussions of social media within social justice art education. Visual imagery shared on the 2011 Blue Out Facebook event page offers an opportunity to discover new implications for the field. All content on the Facebook event page was examined to compare rates of interaction (“Likes,” “Shares,” and replies) of different posts types. The high proportion of interaction enjoyed by the Blue Out Internet memes, as compared to hyperlink and text, sheds light onto how these works functioned within the event’s online activist environment. The campus executive officer will enter last. Banners are displayed for each associate degree major and each baccalaureate college. Academic Dress Gowns worn by those in the procession vary according to the degree held. Although the gown is most frequently black for academic degrees, certain universities have authorized the use of colored gowns. The academic gown has pointed sleeves for the bachelor’s degree, short or regular sleeves for the master’s degree, and round, full sleeves for the doctor’s degree.     Report changed few opinions in PSU community By Susan Snyder, Inquirer Staff Writer POSTED: JUNE 25, 2014 The report released Monday by Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane into the three-year investigation of child sex-abuser Jerry Sandusky did little to change opinions of a Pennsylvania State University community still deeply divided over the scandal. Those who believe mistakes were made in the investigation, including delays by investigators under Gov. Corbett when he was attorney general, continue to believe so, and contend that they see such evidence in the report. Those who think Corbett and his successors did right by taking time to build a strong case without political motive say the report only buttresses their views. "This report was geared toward an evaluation as to whether or not [Corbett] had acted improperly. The answer to that is clearly a resounding no," Keith Eckel, a member of Penn State's board of trustees since 2001 and a Lackawanna County farmer, said Tuesday. "I never doubted the governor's actions in this effort because I've always had a high level of respect for his independence when it came to enforcing the law." But trustee Anthony Lubrano, a onetime board critic elected in the aftermath of the scandal, said the report validated his suspicions that the investigation had unnecessarily dragged on. "If you read the report carefully, you have to conclude that the delays, particularly those in 2010, were suspect," said Lubrano, a Glenmoore businessman. The Attorney General's Office got the case in March 2009. Sandusky was indicted in November 2011.

    Public Art: Call for Entries An Outdoor Art Project “We Are” Sculpture The Pennsylvania State University PURPOSE Penn State’s 2013 Senior Class voted to commission a “We Are” sculpture on campus as its gift to the University. The sculpture will represent the University’s iconic theme, "We Are." The words of the Penn State Alma Mater in the original handwriting of Fred Lewis Pattee will be incorporated into the piece. The words to the alma mater were written in April 1901 by Pattee, professor of American literature, and embody Penn State pride. The inscription on the sculpture will serve as a visual representation of what it truly means to be a Penn Stater, according to Morgan Delaware, overall chair of the Senior Class Gift Committee. "Class gifts go well beyond providing a tangible symbol of the loyalty and pride of a class; the class gift connects your class to every Penn State class before you," said Penn State President Rodney Erickson. "A 'We Are' sculpture enhanced with the words of the Penn State Alma Mater combines two of Penn State’s most cherished expressions of who we are ... It will certainly become a 'must see' landmark on campus." The tradition of class gifts began when the class of 1861, at its reunion in 1890, gave the University a portrait of Penn State’s first president, Evan Pugh, which still hangs in the lobby of Old Main. ELIGIBILITY This competition is open to all interested artists. Each artist may submit only one entry. SITE A national competition is being held for the commission of a sculpture adjacent to the east side of the Intramural Building on Penn State’s University Park Campus.

According to President Obama: An estimated one in five women has been sexually assaulted during her college years – one in five. Of those assaults, only 12 percent are reported, and of those reported assaults, only a fraction of the offenders are punished. And while these assaults overwhelmingly happen to women, we know that men are assaulted, too.
