Mikaylah Wilson (2) Double-Figure Rebounding Games (1) QUICK LOOK AT UNLV Cydni Lewis (1) The Rebels posted a 2-9 mark in non-conference play and have started the Mountain West portion of its schedule with a 2-2 record. They have back-to-back wins against New Mexico and Air Force in their last two games. UNLV is Double-Doubles (-) - 0-6 on the road this season, but two of those losses came at Duke and Portland State. Away from home the Rebels are being outscored by its opponents by an average of 9.7 points, scoring an average of 50.3 points per game while Led Team In Scoring surrendering 63.0. Megan Anderson (1), Analyss Benally (2), Fieme’a Hafoka, (4), Cydni Lewis (4), Raziya Potter (3), Mikaylah Wilson (1) Katie Powell’s 14.7 points per game average paces the Rebels. In addition, Powell leads the team in rebounding (6.1/g) and blocks (0.9/g). Nikki Wheatley is dishing out 1.8 assists and forcing 1.4 steals per game, both team Led Team In Rebounding highs. In 25-years as a head coach she entered 2018-19 with a career record of 389-366. WILSON IS STARTING TO ROLL Spartans in The Top-100 Nationally In the first six games in which she appeared this season, Mikaylah Wilson (So., F, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) was shooting just 28.3 percent (13-of-46), but starting five games ago, things have taken a dramatic turn. In the last Team five games, four of them starts, Wilson has gone 18-of-25 (72.0 percent) and averaged 3.4 rebounds. In addition, 3-pt FG Attempts - 31st ......................................................... 411 over that stretch, she has four steals and four blocks. 3-pt FG Made - 53rd .............................................................. 125 3-pt FG/g - 36th .................................................................. 8.3/g IT’S ALL ABOUT POSITIONING This season, Fieme’a Hafoka (Jr. , G, Kihei, Maui) has returned to her natural position, a wing, after a year out of position at trail post. After 15 games the change is paying dividends. Hafoka’s scoring average is up to 9.4 ppg from 6.1 per game last year and that is just the beginning. Her shooting percentages are all up...field goal percent- age is up from .355-to-.434, three-point field goal percentage is .360 this year compared to .243 a year ago and the free throw shooting us up to .625 from .600. In addition, her assists and steals averages are up from 1.8-to-2.7 and 1.2-to-1.5, respectively. Earlier this season, Hafoka set her career scoring-high with 117 points against Pacific (11/29) and then matched it against Santa Clara (12/15). SETTLING IN NICELY Raziya Potter (Fr., G, Tracy, Calif.) has scored in double figures in seven-of-15 games this season and has made ten starts. After sputtering in the previous two games, she shot 60% (6-of-10) from the field leading the team in scoring with 14 points, grabbed four rebounds and had an assist at Boise State (1/12). CYD IS NO KID Cydni Lewis (So., F, Long Beach, Calif.) has emerged as one of the Spartans most dangerous threats...inside and Tip Of The Spear outside, on offense and defense. Lewis ranks first on the team in rebounds (4.9/g) and blocks (1.0/g), and is its leading scoring (9.5/g). She is the squads third best percentage shooter (.387) among those that have attempted at least nine shots per game, leads the team in three-point shooting accuracy (.483) and has gone to the line a 14 Threes team-high 51 times, knocking down 33 of them (.647).
