Dimitri P. Mikhailidis graduated from the University of London (BSc, MSc, MB, BS and MD) and is Academic Head, Reader and Honorary Consultant in the Depart- ment of Clinical Biochemistry, Royal Free Hospital campus, University College Lon- don , University College London (UCL), UK. He also is a Visiting Professor, Univ. of Belgrade, , and at two universities in Saudi Arabia (King Saud Univ., Riyadh, King Khalid Univ., Abha). His clinical interest is vascular dis- ease prevention, and his research interests are dyslipidaemias and thrombosis. He is a former Wellcome Trust fellow and has supervised 15 doctoral students (University of London). He is a former Vice-president, Section of Pathology, Royal Society of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM) and Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharma- cology (FCP). He has 1128 entries on PubMed and 20,181 citations listed in the ISI index, Core Collection (H-factor = 62). He is ranked 120 in the world by citations in the field of Pharmacology and Toxicology (ISI Web of Science). He is editor-in-chief of several journals including Current Medical Research and Opinion, Cur- rent Vascular Pharmacology, Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy and Angiology (impact factor up to 3.4). He has acted as referee for 104 medical journals. He has participated in several guideline committees. He is a former member of the nucleus group for peripheral arterial disease, European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is the lead for the Prevention Sec- tion of the European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS) Guidelines for the Management of Carotid Ar- tery Disease. He has lectured in 49 countries. He was awarded the Order of St. Mark (first class) for services to the Greek community outside . He holds Honorary Doctorates from 6 Medical Schools in Greece (Alexandroupoli, , , , and ).
