Floors: Poor floor conditions are a leading cause of incidents so cleaning up spilled oil and other liquids at once is important. Allowing chips, shavings and dust to accumulate can also cause incidents. Trapping chips, shavings and dust before they reach the floor or cleaning them up regularly can prevent their accumulation. Areas that cannot be cleaned continuously, such as entrance ways, should have anti-slip flooring. Keeping floors in good order also means replacing any worn, ripped, or damaged flooring that poses a tripping hazard. Walls: Light-coloured walls reflect light while dirty or dark-coloured walls absorb light. Contrasting colours warn of physical hazards and mark obstructions such as pillars. Paint can highlight railings, guards and other safety equipment, but should never be used as a substitute for guarding. The program should outline the regulations and standards for colours. Dirty light fixtures reduce essential light levels. Clean light fixtures can improve lighting efficiency significantly. Aisles should be wide enough to accommodate people and vehicles comfortably and safely. Aisle space allows for the movement of people, products and materials. Warning signs and mirrors can improve sight-lines in blind corners. Arranging aisles properly encourages people to use them so that they do not take shortcuts through hazardous areas. Keeping aisles and stairways clear is important. They should not be used for temporary "overflow" or "bottleneck" storage. Stairways and aisles also require adequate lighting. The best way to control spills is to stop them before they happen. Regularly cleaning and maintaining machines and equipment is one way. Another is to use drip pans and guards where possible spills might occur. When spills do occur, it is important to clean them up immediately. Absorbent materials are useful for wiping up greasy, oily or other liquid spills. Used absorbents must be disposed of properly and safely. Tool housekeeping is very important, whether in the tool room, on the rack, in the yard, or on the bench. Tools require suitable fixtures with marked locations to provide an orderly arrangement. Returning tools promptly after use reduces the chance of it being misplaced or lost. Workers should regularly inspect, clean and repair all tools and take any damaged or worn tools out of service. The regular collection, grading and sorting of scrap contribute to good housekeeping practices. It also makes it possible to separate materials that can be recycled from those going to waste disposal facilities. Allowing material to build up on the floor wastes time and energy since additional time is required for cleaning it up. Placing scrap containers near where the waste is produced encourages orderly waste disposal and makes collection easier. All waste receptacles should be clearly labelled e. Good organization of stored materials is essential for overcoming material storage problems whether on a temporary or permanent basis. There will also be fewer strain injuries if the amount of handling is reduced, especially if less manual material handling is required. The location of the stockpiles should not interfere with work but they should still be readily available when required. Stored materials should allow at least one metre or about three feet of clear space under sprinkler heads. Retrieved 2 June Speed Cleaning Meredith Books, Des Moines, Iowa. In Australia, care instructions must be permanently attached to articles, be written in English, and be appropriate for the care of the article. Additional symbols may be used to clarify the instructions but symbols alone are not sufficient. As a minimum, laundering instructions include (in order) four symbols: washing, bleaching, drying, and ironing. Drycleaning instructions include one symbol. Professional Wet Cleaning symbols are included for information only as they are not currently recognised in Australia. Washing The washtub symbol tells you how the garment should be washed. • The Chief's Gorilla Guide for Looking Good in Uniform
The Chief’s Gorilla Guide For Looking Good In Uniform By Chief Master Sergeant Robert D. Chiafos CHIEF, IOWA CIVIL AIR PATROL ACADEMY Camp Dodge, IA 3rd Edition (Revised) January 2007 The Commander’s Responsibility Each commander needs to acknowledge and accept responsibility for the appearance of all individuals under their command. Every military unit has a uniform culture. Left undirected, and on their own, members of the unit will collectively and unconsciously set a standard for wearing the uniform. Once established, that standard will perpetuate itself. As new members come in they will observe the standard, and dress down or up to match it. In any unit where uniforms are not inspected regularly, or where the leadership fails to immediately confront individual violators; the standard will plummet like water seeking its lowest level. This is a serious breach of military discipline and the worst kind of leadership! Sadly, in some units, the senior members are the greatest offenders. No matter how bad the current standard is in your unit, it can be turned around. First, the commander must meet standards, if you don’t - correct it! You cannot conduct an inspection, or correct infractions, when the offenders look better than you do. Next, demand compliance from your Cadet Programs Officer, and all cadet officers and NCOs. When infractions are observed, use the chain of command to immediately confront and correct violations. When repeated correction fails, revoke the privilege of wearing the Air Force Uniform. Openly reprimand offenders and reward those who exceed the standards. Uniform inspections must be the first order of business at any CAP meeting, gathering, or other event.

  • A Study on Characterization & Treatment of Laundry Effluent
IJIRST –International Journal for Innovative Research in Science & Technology| Volume 4 | Issue 1 | June 2017 ISSN (online): 2349-6010 A Study on Characterization & Treatment of Laundry Effluent Prof Dr K N Sheth Mittal Patel Director Assistant Professor Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur SVBIT, Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat) Mrunali D Desai Assistant Professor Department of Environmental Engineering ISTAR, Vallabh Vdyanagar (Gujarat) Abstract It is a substantial fact that specific disposal standard for laundry effluent have not been prescribed by Gujarat pollution Control Board (GPCB). Laundry waste uses soap, soda, detergents and other chemicals for removal of stains, oil, grease and dirt from the soil clothing. The laundry waste is originated in the residential zone on account of manual cleaning, cleaning by domestic washing machines as well as large amount of effluents are generated by commercial washing including dry-cleaning. An attempt has been made in the present investigation to generalize the characteristics of laundry effluent generated by various sources in Vadodara (Gujarat). It has been found during the laboratory studies, that SS, BOD and COD of laundry waste are high. Treatability studies were carried out in the environmental engineering laboratory of B.V.M. Engineering College, V.V.Nagar for removal of these contaminants. The coagulation-flocculation followed by dual media filtration was found to be most suitable sequence of the treatment. Keywords: Laundry effluent, soil clothing, coagulation-flocculation, dual media filtration _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ I. INTRODUCTION Laundry industry is a service industry, In other words, laundry industry is not a manufacturing industry. [1] The State Pollution Control Board has, therefore, not framed standards for specific contaminant levels for the disposal of Laundry waste.

She was so old and wrinkly most people thought she must be at least 101. Even though she was old and wrinkly, sheONLY was a healthy woman. She ran two marathons a year. She swam in the ocean every day – summer and winter, rain, hail, or shine. She went skiing on the highest mountains, and she rode a fast motorbike with handlebars like antlers. The old woman lived in the home she had always lived in. She did her own gardening. She did her own housework. She baked her own bread. And every Monday morning, come rain, hail, or shine, she stoked up the fire under her big shiny copper tub. When the water was heated, she did the week’s laundry. 5 For inspection teachers' Now the old woman had always fancied herself as a folk singer.

Recommendations on stain removal Svensson’s recommendations concerning stain removal should only be regarded as guidelines. There is no guarantee that the stain will disappear entirely. If there is the slightest doubt, we advise you to seek professional help. If something is spilled on the upholstery fabric, it is best to remove the stain as quickly as possible. Most stains disappear if they are treated immediately and not allowed to dry. Superficial stains are quickly removed if they are immediately wiped off with a damp sponge or cloth. Stains that have dried into the fabric should only be removed according to the instructions below. Dry with white cloth First, wipe up all surplus liquid and semi-attached particles with a white absorbent serviette or cloth. Never use a coloured serviette as the colour may transfer onto the fabric! Scrape up attached particles with a spoon or knife blade - work from the edges of the stain and inwards to prevent spreading. Dab with a damp sponge If the stain is small, it will suffice to dab it with a damp sponge. Be careful that the sponge is not too wet because the fabric need only be dampened. To avoid a ring forming after the stain, it is important to start from the outside and work inwards. Never rub to try to remove a stain. Avoid cleaning agents on treated fabric If the fabric has been treated to provide a water- and dust-repellent surface, no cleaning agent should be used when removing stains except warm water. Cleaning agents and/or excessive mechanical abrasion can degrade the repellent effect.
