    Saverio Clemente Andrea De Amici Luca Targetti Francesco Meli is one of the most fascinating and sought-after tenors in the world. He was born in Genoa in 1980 and began studying singing at the age of seventeen with the soprano Norma Palacios at the Conservatorio Paganini. He continued his studies with Vittorio Terranova and established himself at several competitions for opera singers, including the Caruso and the Zandonai competitions. In 2002 he debuted in Macbeth, the Petite Messe Solonelle and in Puccini's Messa di gloria at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. This marked the start of an outstanding career performing a repertoire of Bel canto and Rossini. He made his debut at La Scala at the age of just 23 in Les Dialogues des Carmelites conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti and has returned there over the years to perform in new productions of Otello, Idomeneo, Don Giovanni, Maria Stuarda and Der Rosenkavalier. To date, Francesco Meli Francesco Meli can count eighteen playbills at Milan's La Scala. In 2005 he operned the Rossini Opera Festival season with a new production of Tenor Bianca e Falliero and the Carlo Felice opera season in Don Giovanni. He made his debut in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Zurich, in Don Giovanni at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, La Sonnambula in Lyon for a Virgin recording with Natalie Dessay, in Così fan tutte under conductor Riccardo Muti in Vienna, where he also performed in Anna Bolena, in Maometto II in Tokyo and in Rigoletto in his debuts at Covent Garden and at the Metropolitan.

Every conference organized by the international yeast community in the last two decades (Stellenbosch 1997, Rimini 1999, Prague 2001, Gothenburg 2003, Bratislava 2005, Melbourne 2007, Manchester 2009, Olsztyn 2011, Frankfurt 2013, Levico 2015) was guided by high scientific standards and was an opportunity to exchange ideas, renew old acquaintances, make new friends and promote collaborations in research.     Introduction In the international arena, the Czech Republic strives to act as a democratic and politically, economically and socially stable Central European country, pursuing not only its own particular interests but also assuming its share of responsibility for the development of Europe and the entire international community. The international environment in which the Czech Republic pursues its foreign policy is a product of the interaction of a number of factors – sovereign countries, associations of countries at different levels of integration in international organisations and institutions, and non-governmental entities, ranging from non- governmental organisations to various non-transparent lobbying groups not respecting the rules of international relations, including organised crime groups and terrorist organisations. The role, import and influence of these factors fluctuate, often within a very short time span. Following the end of the cold war and the disintegration of the bi-polar world, and as a result of changes in the security environment, the intensification of globalisation processes, the liberalisation of the global economy, the increasing mutual dependence of countries, and the accelerating development of science and technology, there has been significant growth in the importance of multilateral co-operation within the framework of international organisations and integration groupings. At the same time, in the face of new threats posed by certain non- transparent entities, and terrorist organisations in particular, all international mechanisms designed to protect against such dangerous phenomena are rapidly gaining in importance. The Czech Republic, as a country which, by size and population, ranks among medium- sized countries in the European area, and as a country with an open economy, a high proportion of exports and services in the generation of its gross domestic product, and with limited natural resources, is markedly dependent on international co-operation.
