Laurentian Mixed Forest Province, Cliff/Talus System Summary
CT Cliff and Talus System photo by M.D. Lee MN DNR Lake County, MN General Description Communities in the Cliff/Talus (CT) System are present on cliffs or talus slopes on steep- sided knobs, in river gorges, along lakeshores, and in other settings with sheer bedrock exposures. Often, cliffs and talus slopes are associated with one another because talus slopes are composed of rock fractured either from cliffs or from exposed bedrock on steep hillsides. The vegetation of CT communities is generally open. Lichens and moss- es are the dominant life forms, with vascular plants sparse or patchy because of scarcity of soil. In this classification, cliff communities are grouped by moisture and light regimes and by bedrock type, which are the major determinants of species composition. Cliff habitats range from warm and dry to cool and wet depending on cliff aspect, proximity to streams or lake shores, and presence of groundwater seepage on the cliff face. In the Laurentian Mixed Forest (LMF) Province, cliffs are formed most commonly of igneous bedrock, although cliffs on metamorphic rock are also common. Talus communities are classified according to amount of woody plant cover and moisture regime. In the LMF Province, CT communities are restricted mostly to the North Shore High- lands and Border Lakes subsections in NSU, where Precambrian bedrock is frequently at or just below the surface and topography is often rugged. Scattered cliffs are present in WSU and are likely in the Laurentian Uplands Subsection in NSU and the Littlefork- Vermilion Uplands Subsection in Northern Minnesota & Ontario Peatlands MOP, primar- ily along lakes and streams where water has exposed the underlying bedrock. -

İki şehir arasında günlük metro seferleri yapılmaktadır. Nüfus yoğunluğu ve şehirleşme oranı yüksek bir ostandır. Kerec, İran’ın sekiz büyük şehrinden biridir. Ekonomisi ağırlıklı olarak sanayiye dayalıdır. Meyve suyu ve konsantre, ilaç, mobilya evaporatif soğutucu, televizyon, çamaşır makinesi, elektrik kabloları ve gaz ocağı üretiminde önemli bir merkezdir. Başlıca tarımsal faaliyetler şeftali, tatlı limon, elma, üzüm ve yumurta üretimidir. Elburz dağları üzerinden İran’ın kuzey bölgelerine giden Çalus yolu doğal güzelliği ve yol güzergahındaki tesisleri ile önemli bir turizm bölgesidir. İran’ın en önemli kayak tesislerinden biri burada yer almaktadır. -

Outline of angiosperm phylogeny: orders, families, and representative genera with emphasis on Oregon native plants Priscilla Spears December 2013 The following listing gives an introduction to the phylogenetic classification of the flowering plants that has emerged in recent decades, and which is based on nucleic acid sequences as well as morphological and developmental data. This listing emphasizes temperate families of the Northern Hemisphere and is meant as an overview with examples of Oregon native plants. It includes many exotic genera that are grown in Oregon as ornamentals plus other plants of interest worldwide. The genera that are Oregon natives are printed in a blue font. Genera that are exotics are shown in black, however genera in blue may also contain non-native species. Names separated by a slash are alternatives or else the nomenclature is in flux. When several genera have the same common name, the names are separated by commas. The order of the family names is from the linear listing of families in the APG III report. Flood zoning has many applications, in floodplain management. For management of the three major branches of the Halilrood River, Rabor, Roodar and Javaran in Safarood watershed in Kerman Province, flood hazard zonation was considered in this research. For this purpose, Flood levels in 2 to 200 return periods in three mentioned reaches (72.13 km) using HEC-RAS and HEC-GeoRAS extension were determined in GIS environment. Initially, Rivers Plan was divided to 163 cross sections and in 75 of them, hydrological data were collected and roughness coefficient was determined by Manning method. Results showed that 90.26 percent of the total area affected by the 200-year flood, Susceptible to flooding by the flood under 25 years as well as study on flood depth in the floodplain showed that 68.26 percent of the average depth of floods with 200 years return period is belonged to floods with under 25 year return period. -

Symposium: Morphometrics Presentation: Oral Contact: Rahim Abdi, Khoramshahr University of Marine science and Technology Khoramshahr Khozestan 64199-43175 Iran E-Mail: [email protected] Abstract: In this study, the digestive system of 10 adult Otolithes ruber, were removed and the livers and pancreases were put in the formalin 10 % to be fixed. The routine procedures of preparation of tissues were followed and the paraffin blocks were cut at 6 microns, stained with H&E, PAS and Gomori studied under light microscope. The results of microscopic studies showed that liver as the greatest accessory organ surrounds the pancreatic tissue. Liver is a lobulated organ which surrounds the pancreas as an accessory gland among its lobules. Hepatic tissue of this fish is similar to many other osteichthyes. Hepatocytes include glycogen stores and fat vacuoles located around the hepatic sinusoids. Pancreas as a mixed gland microscopically was composed of lobules consisting of serous acini(exocrine portion) and langerhans islets (endocrine portion). However, pancreatic lobules are usually seen as two rows of acini among which there is a large blood vessel.
