Revista Almajana Nr. 1-2 2014
IOSIF BADESCU, Cum am devenit medic, Editura Excelsior Art, Timişoara, 2013, p. -

So, the development of these forms of tourism is required in the rural area, both economically and socially. Known as an important ethnographic area of the country, with traditional elements specific, Almaj Valley through natural and cultural potential available, it stands more and more lately by intensifying rural tourist and ecotourist activity. However, tourist infrastructure is very underdeveloped, to rural communities returning the mission to get more involved in this purpose, having in view, the national and international recognition of the high tourism potential of this area Romanian area still retains, quite well, the traditional, cultural, ethnographic and folklore valences specific to rural areas, providing favorable conditions for development of rural tourism and agrotourism. Tourist Activities in the Mountainous Banat Villages
QUAESTUS MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH JOURNAL TOURIST ACTIVITIES IN THE MOUNTAINOUS BANAT VILLAGES Monica OGARLACI Abstract: Mountainous Banat is characterized by a remarkable tourism potential, represented by both the numerous natural attractions and by cultural ones. Thus, Banat Mountains, in the variety and originality of the natural morphology of overall climate peculiarities, fauna and flora, which define the specificity of natural tourism is an area with great potential in developing activities in tourism. However, the existing tourism potential is poorly capitalized as small businesses in tourism are only in the Brebu Nou - Garana, Văliug Oravita, Bozovici, Teregova, Domaşnea, Danube Gorge. Keywords: authenticity, potential for tourism, rural tourism, villages, tradition Introduction In our country, rural tourism is one of the ways to make known Romania's tourism potential. Year after year, statistics show that tourism in rural areas has more and more adepts. The Banat area is an intercultural space where habits, attitudes, secular practices, religious rituals etc. belonging to Romanians, Swabians, Serbs, Bulgarians have combined Banat folklore presents original and varied forms of expression generated by realities and historical conditions. Houses, architecture dwelling constitutes the villages’ representative appearance. The technical installations, the mills, the processing wool installations in Poneva and objects inside the peasant dwellings form the world of unexploited tourist villages of Banat. Banat villagers have ancient traditions and customs that were handed down from generation to generation. Folk customs have a varied repertoire and a special charm. A representative customs in the Banat villages is usually Nedeea or pray. Tradition is respected every year when it celebrates the patron of the local church. -

Rural Tourism Resources in Dognecea, Small Piece of Heaven in Mountainous Banat
QUAESTUS MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH JOURNAL RURAL TOURISM RESOURCES IN DOGNECEA, SMALL PIECE OF HEAVEN IN MOUNTAINOUS BANAT Monica Ogarlaci Abstract: The Romanian rural area represents the cultural and national civilization patrimony, and it constitutes the source of spirituality and historicity in Romania. Rural tourism can become an incentive for local development in many rural areas. They allow speeding traditional economic activities and capitalizing cultural particularities, offering jobs and stopping rural exodus, at the same time. Dognecea is situated at the basis of the mountains of Dognecea, where traditions, customs and culinary art are kept. It also has a rich cultural potential and it represents a special touristic attraction. Rural tourist activity in Mountainous Banat is currently developing, especially in settlements such as Văliug, Gărâna-Brebu Nou, Poiana Mărului and Clisura Dunării, where most bed-and- breakfast accommodation is situated. Tourist resources in the rural area make this area a precious tourist destination both on a national and an international level. Keywords: rural tourism, touristic village, touristic resources, mountain area, traditions 1. Introduction The rural tourism represents a method to preserve the natural and human qualities of a given geographic area. In the specialty literature, there are numerous definitions resulted from the way issues have been approached. The official definition launched by the World Tourism Organization in 1997, and other European bodies, which specifies that rural tourism is “a form of tourism which includes any tourism activity organized and conducted in the rural area by local population and which exploits the local tourism resources (natural, cultural-historical, human) as well as the tourism endowments and structures, including the pensions and agro-tourism farms. -

The Resita Industrial Complex: Restructuring and Diversification
No. 2, 12-16 (1998) THE RESITA INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX: RESTRUCTURING AND DIVERSIFICATION Nicolae Hillinger Romania David Turnock Geography Department, The University, Leicester LEI 7RH, England Abstract Resita is a long-established centre of heavy industry based on steel making. It's importance has rested primarily on the local resources, but there has been strong political support, on strategic grounds, for the engineering industry and in the communist period large imports of ore and coke enabled iron and steel making capacity to increase way beyond the local potential. There has now been a major reappraisal in the light of real transport and energy costs. Drastic downsizing has led to high unemployment and major restructuring of the economy is now under way. The article examines the scale of the problem and assesses the prospects for diversification. Resita is situated at an altitude of 225m in the Banat Mountains (Grigore 1990; Sencu 1978) and lies in a small depression drained by the Barzava, a tributary of the Timis which enters the Danube near Belgrade. Resita is one of the oldest industrial complexes in southeastern Europe. The mineral resources of the Banat Mountains were regarded as a major resource by the Habsburg authorities when the area was taken from the Turks under the terms of the Treaty of Passarowitz (1716). The first Habsburg governor of Banat (Claudius F. Mercy) immediately set up 'Banater Bergwerk-Einrichtungs Komission' to investigate the opportunities for the mining industry in an extensive area around Oravita, with particular interest in gold, silver and copper (Tinta 1972). However, at the northern extremity around Bocsa and Dognecea iron was found as well as non-ferrous ores and this became a major interest after the first blast furnace was lit in 1719. -
