FEMININ MASCULIN 10 km. Clasic 15 km. clasic 7,5 km. clasic / 7,5 km. liber (Pursuit) Sprint pe echipe 6 x 1500 m. Sprint pe echipe 6 x 800 m. 15 km. clasic/15 km. liber (Pursuit) 4 x 5 km. (2 clasic/2 liber) Ştafeta 4 x 10 km. (2 clasic/2 liber) Ştafeta Sprint 800 m. Sprint 1500 m. 30 km. liber Mst. 50 km. liber Mst.

10 THE CRYSTAL GLOBE A TEMPTING TROPHY OF THE SKIING WORLD CUP
PhD. Florin PELIN National Academy of Physical Education and Sports, Bucharest PhD. Raluca Anca PELIN University Politehnica of Bucharest
Key words: appearance, titles, victories, perspectives.
Abstract The new organizational form for skiing competitions made that any race taking place under the care of the International Ski Federation and inside the World Cup benefits of a greater attention from the public which attracted also the interest of many sponsors. The Crystal Globe is a trophy produced exclusively for the International Ski Federation which is offered yearly only to the winners from the general classifications – the big globe - and to winners from each discipline classifications – the small globes. Today there are awarded yearly 64 Crystal Globes to the winners of the International Ski Federation Finals: alpine skiing, ski jumping, cross-country, Nordic combined, artistic skiing, etc. One of the first biggest organizations that showed its interest in The Alpine Skiing World Cup was the French group Evian who wanted from the begging to associate its name with the new sportive competition. We may consider the Evian trophy as an historical initiative which rewards yearly the winners of the general and the events classifications, becoming nowadays the famous Crystal Globe. The initial idea was to represent the purity of the Evian mineral water through this award, but now the signification advanced to the one of the pureness of snow, generally specific to the winter sports and especially to the alpine skiing.
Entitled „FIS SKI World Cup Trophy”, made from massive crystal, cut with diamond and engraved with the most sophisticated technological procedures, the Crystal Globe, or better said the Crystal Globes have a weight of 8kg the small one and 12kg the big one and an estimated value of 2500 and respectively 5000 Swiss francs.
11 The Crystal Globe is a trophy produced exclusively for the International Ski Federation which is offered yearly only to the winners from the general classifications – the big globe - and to winners from each discipline classifications – the small globes. Today there are awarded yearly 64 Crystal Globes to the winners of the International Ski Federation Finals: alpine skiing, ski jumps, fond ski, the Northern Combination artistic skiing, etc. Produced at the temperature of 1200 degrees, from a very fine glass, the crystal Globe is made through a special procedure, unique and kept in secret by the JOSKA Company from Germany. The cooling process lasts 12 hours after which the Globe is cut and engraved with a diamond disks system. There are written the logo of the International Ski Federation, the discipline and the sponsors’ names. The smallest irregularity in manufacturing the trophy determines the melting of the globe because of the exigencies of the International Ski Federation concerning the quality of the execution. The Crystal Globe is an exclusive product for the International Ski Federation and its purpose is the reward of the best skiers. The official alpine skiing competitions started at the beginning of the second decade of the 20th century, in 1921, with the organization of the first championships in Great Britain (downhill race and style). After this, in 1922, the first slalom was held at Muren in Switzerland and two years later it was organized the first Alpine Olympiad in Arlerg – Kandahar. This was a combined event from one slalom and one downhill race which is now considered as the first official competition in skiing, a reference for the history of this sport because it promoted the alpine skiing as an Olympic event. The latter became an official part of the Olympic Games in 1936, at the same time with the development of the Winter Olympiad from Garmisch – Partenkirchen. The appearance of the International Ski Federation, in 1924, had great benefits on the general development of this sport and on its importance as an Olympic sport, but the event which permitted the opening of the ski to the planetary dimensions it has nowadays, was the creation of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in 1966. The World Cup is the result of the initiative of a small group of visionaries in the alpine skiing, such as Honoré Bonnet (FRA), Bob Beattie (USA), Dr. Sepp Sulzberger (AUT), and, especially the President of the International Ski Federation in 1951, Marc Holder. A few journalists, led by the distinguished Marc Holder joined them and together they noticed that the peoples’ interest in winter sports grew very fast. The World Cup represented a crucial moment in developing the alpine skiing, because since then this sport became a part of the new social dimension started in the 50’s-60’s and based on a new concept of the modern world: the leisure. The World Cup saw the daylight due to a favorable context and its name, revolutionary at that time, with its great resonance: World Cup, Coupe du Monde, Weltcup led to a higher interest for this competition before the first races began. We consider as relevant the fact that, in 1966, except for the football World Cup, no other sport had such a competition system including a World Championship and that other sports as athletics, cycling, navigation, and other winter sports as ski jumps, biathlon, fond skiing were inspired by the name and the organizational form of the skiing World Cup.
12 Before the appearance of the new form of competition, the skiing races were less organized, the only exceptions being the Olympic Games and The World Cups which were much advertised and had a lot of supporters. The internal debut regulation for the World Cup established that, for the 1966/1967 season, the organization of a dozen of races, with a score system inspired by the navigation races and consisted in: 25 points for the 1st place; 20 points for the 2nd; 15 points for the 3rd and so on till 1 point for the 10th place. For the general classification, there were counted only a limited number of races, the best three from each discipline. Disciplines for the competitions The competitions organized for the Alpine Skiing World Cup, the Olympic Winter Games and World Cups, include 10 disciplines: 5 for male and 5 for female. The 5 events of the official program of the competition are the following: Downhill race, Super-G, Giant Slalom, Slalom, Alpine Skiing Combined. There are more additional forms, like the Parallel Slalom, Super-Combined and the Team Competition, yet, for the moment they are organized rarely enough and have exceptional titles. The rules of the races are the same for both sexes, but there are differences between the events. In both cases, the result is established according to the timing, made at the milliseconds, the equality of time being accepted. In cross country skiing the most often organized events at the World Cup are the Olympic ones, but there are also included very long-distance race both for female and male. The Olympic disciplines are:
FEMALE 10 km classic 7,5 km classic / 7,5 km freestyle (Pursuit) Team sprint 6 x 800 m 4 x 5 km (2 classic / 2 freestyle) Relay race Sprint 800 m 30 km free Mst MALE 15 km classic Team Sprint 6 x 1500 m 15 km classic / 15 km freestyle (Pursuit) 4 x10 km (2 classic / 2 freestyle) Relay race Sprint 1500 m 50 km free Mst.
13 The first regular season of the World Cup was held in 1966 – 1967 and had a great success immediately. The winner of the first 2 editions was Jean Claude Killy, followed by a pleiad of “sacred monsters” of alpine skiing:

20 new names from 9 countries get remarked through winning the 41 editions of the World Cups organized till now. B. Miller wins the antepenultimate great Crystal Globe, 22 years after another American huge success, belonging to Phil Mahre. We shall see if Miller will equal Mahre’s performance, consisting in 3 awards.
14 The penultimate big Crystal Globe was given for the first time to BENJAMIN RAICH- AUSTRIA. A beautiful ascension for him, 3 seasons ago was winning the 3rd place in the World Cup general classification. 2 seasons ago he won the 2nd place, and the last season he was the first. Also for the first time, he won the small Crystal Globe in the slalom event. The pleasant surprise of the last season was offered by Svindal. It was the first time when the Norwegian sportsman had won a small Crystal Globe in the S.G. event. He had finished the second in the World Cup general classification. This was an extraordinary season for Svindal, because he also won 2 gold medals in the World Championships. Thus, he is the 3rd Norwegian promising to obtain exceptional results in the “The Great White Circus”. The number of victories in the alpine skiing World Cup is a record almost impossible to be reached by someone else practicing any other winter sport (86). This belongs to the Swedish sportsman Ingemar Stenmark. The first regular World Cup season in cross country was organized in 1982 and had a great immediate success. The winners of the 26 editions were the following:

dr.
VI. Sarcinile studiului - alegerea eşantionului de lucru: - elaborarea fişelor de evaluare şi a intervenţiei aplicative; - susţinerea evaluării şi analiza datelor;
29 STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGEMENT ABILITY OF THE INSTRUCTIVE-EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN STUDENTS DURING THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION LESSON
Phd Gloria RAŢĂ ,University of Bacău Phd candidate Bogdan RAŢĂ ,University of Bacău
This study is a result of the professional training process of the students so that they can cope with the different situations and interactions which could appear during their future teaching career. The development of the management ability of the instructive-educational process represents a priority of the higher education training. According to this necessity, we initiated a research which aimed at increasing the creative abilities of the students. Throughout the fourth semester of study different teaching methods were applied during the seminars and lectures in “Specific Teaching Techniques”. The students had the possibility to improve their teaching style and to use new techniques adapted to different situations. By means of this observation study conducted among the second year students of the Faculty of Movement, Sport and Health Sciences from the University of Bacau we succeeded in stimulating the students’ interest for knowledge and practical application of some new teaching methods. As a final result, the arithmetic mean of students’ grades for the subject “Specific Teaching Techniques” increased with 1.47 points compared with the initial assessment marks granted to the students.
I. Introduction
The aim of the higher education system is to develop personalities who can cope with the permanent society changes, independent and creative persons who are capable of self- development and self-transformation imposed by the achievements in science and human civilization. The educational system changes or the educational reform imply new exigencies, new formative trends and impose a mentality shift from the theoretic dimension of education to the applicative dimension which leads to the development of the praxis abilities. The contemporary professional development aims at educating the inner motivations, the creative and imaginative attitudes for exploring the immediate and prospective reality, and at training the student’s active and self-conscious participation in his/her own formation as well. As a trainer who has objectives well established, an academic is a collaborator for the students, the person who organizes and conducts the learning process and the assimilation of information, and especially the person who supervises the evolution of students’ creative thinking. The development of these desiderates imposes a creative behavior and thinking on behalf of the teacher, openness and receptivity to new ideas, implication in stimulating students’ creativity.
30 II. Aim This observation study aims at developing the ability of creative communication in teaching physical education and at providing the students with different modalities of use the traditional and news teaching methods. III. Study hypothesis The starting hypothesis states that the implication of students in the management of the seminars can lead to the development of the ability to transfer knowledge, to develop the creative ability, and to a better involvement in their professional training. IV. Study tasks - to establish the sample; - to elaborate the evaluation cards and the applicative intervention; - to asses and analyze the data; - to elaborate the conclusions and the paper. V. Methods of research The study implied the following research methods: bibliographical study, observation, statistic-mathematical method, and graph representation. The results registered in the observation cards of each subject were summarized and processed. As for the analysis indicators we chose the average (arithmetic mean) and the difference between the averages registered in the initial and the final testing. VI. Study subjects The study was conducted in March – June 2007 among a sample of 20 students (9 male students and 11 female students), in the locations of the Faculty of Movement, Sport and Health Sciences (classrooms with magnetic blackboards, video projector, computers, retro projector) VII. Research stages The assessment implied the granting of marks which were given on a scale of 1 to 10 for the practical part of the seminars. The practical examination consisted in students’ involvement in the teaching process. Each student chose a teaching method and used it as a working method during the seminar. The mark granted to each student take into account the following aspects: the method description, the method application, the innovative way of using the teaching method, the practical application of the old and new method. The following aspects were carried out during the investigation: 1) the initial and final testing were carried out during the 1st and 2nd and respectively the 13th and 14th seminars. Each student chose and prepared five teaching methods, one at his/her choice and four compulsory (explanation, demonstration, conversation and description). The time allocated to each student was 20 minutes. It was observed the way in which the 2nd year students used the assimilated information; 2) the ongoing (formative) testing was administrated during the seminars 3 to 12 and implied verbal encouragements concerning the chosen teaching strategy (explanation, description, seminar debate, reporting, demonstration, observation, brainstorming,
31 modeling, problem-based learning, individual study, instructing, debate lecture/discourse, practice, Philips 6-6, cube method, practice by rotation, instruction, debate lecture). For implementing the practical application of the method at choice each student had 5 minutes. The students got marks for their performances but these marks were not taken into account in the final analysis. VIII. Organization and development of the applicative intervention which aims at training the ability of creative management of the instructive-educational process in students
During the seminar hours in “Specific Teaching Techniques” subject, we initiated an observation study on students for their stimulation and training for a teaching career. The main goal was to train the adaptive ability of creation which implied students’ involvement in managing and communicating during the seminar and lecture units. Students were encouraged to study the bibliography in order to discover and find new ideas which could help them to train and improve their teaching skills. Starting from the fact that most of the students in Physical Education and Sport will work as teachers after graduation, and taking into account the difficulties in involving the children and pupils in the instructive- educational process, we tried to train the students’ adaptive and creative ability. This will lead to a more attractive and efficient teaching performance and will help the students to cope with new and unexpected situations. There was performed an initial assessment of students’ knowledge previously assimilated in academic subjects such as: Theory of Physical Education and Sport, Didactics of Physical Education and Sport, and General Pedagogy. This assessment had a predictive value and offered information about the way in which the seminars in “Specific Teaching Techniques” must be conducted. Despite the students’ inaccuracy in answers, the following aspects were pointed out: - the internal transfer was achieved – the students assimilated the specific knowledge but they rendered the information in an hesitant way, both whenever they were asked to answer or they participate in discussions and conversations on their own initiative; - the external transfer was partially achieved at the individual or micro group level. Some students suggested a combination between the already known elements in order to create new situations and strategies of action. Being aware of the importance of the professional training which implies attention and direct implication on behalf of the teacher, throughout the 4th semester of study the students’ creative ability was trained and developed in the seminar work. At the end of semester, the students were able to apply the teaching methods achieved even to other subjects, and had the possibility to create new teaching modalities in agreement with the educational necessities. The following algorithm was applied to the research: the teacher communicates the topic for debate and establishes the teaching pattern; taking into account the teacher’s way of ating, the nominated students prepare, organize and perform some seminar units according to the pre-established methodology. In order to demonstrate the formative efficiency and the achievement of creative ability a current and final assessment of the following items was undertaken:
32 - correctness to follow the transfer pattern; - correctness + creativity to improve the transfer pattern; - creativity to create new modalities; - correctness + creativity to manage the new modalities. In order to confront the student with the real “teaching” situation, a stimulating atmosphere of self-confidence was created. The students were permanently encouraged in their activities. There were emphasized their achievements and originality. Within the observation study, the factor of progress was represented by the performing of parts of the seminars by the students and the creative adaptation of the teaching methods which followed the steps: a) debating the teaching methods (description, demonstration, lecture, explanation, conversation, etc.) presented in the course “Didactics of Physical Education and Sport” during the previous semester of study; b) taking into account the teacher’s way of teaching, the students prepare, organize and manage the performing of certain teaching sequences using the established methodology; c) taking into account the teacher’s way of acting, the students prepare, organize and manage the performing of certain improved or new teaching sequences. Example of applicative intervention for the method of description: Learning unit: Teaching methods Content: Description presented as a teaching method Objectives: - component elements assimilation; - approach understanding; - training the description ability; - training the ability to conform the description to concrete situations (weak level of understanding, leak of attentiveness, weak attention, etc.) The following alternative approaches concerning the “method improvement” were discovered by the students: a) interrogative description (“What didn’t you understand?” followed by additional answer and demonstration); b) diversified description (verbal and non-verbal presentation modalities without altering the content); c) auxiliary description (the explanation is “strengthened” by a colleague); d) description and demonstration performed simultaneously. New sequences development implied the following topics: 1. Description performed after a demonstration;
33 2. Description followed by a similar one performed by another student using different voice inflexions; 3. Description followed by a new explanation with the same content; 4. Description and demonstration performed simultaneously by the same student; 5. Question raised and followed by a justificatory description. During the presentation, all the students’ deviations from their behaviour within the initial stage were encouraged (voice inflexions, gesticulation, mimicry, interrogation, etc). A similar approach as presented above was used for other methods: demonstration, explanation, conversation. Table 1 depicts the marks granted to the students for each method. IX. This fact proves all students’ communication and creative abilities were improved during the instructive-educational process; - the average of the marks granted to the male students is lower than the average of the marks granted to the female students – similar situation for initial and final assessment. We might conclude that the female students performed better than the male ones – not confirmed since the male students’ progress (1.80 points) is compared with the female students’ progress (1.24 points); - the comparison between the average of the marks received by the whole sample within the final assessment versus the initial assessment points out an improvement of 1.45 points; - the higher progress registered is as follows : 2.60 points for the male students and 1.80 points for female students. As far as the lower progress is concerned, the records show 1 point for males and 0.4 points for females. Therefore, we may conclude that the male students’ development was higher than the female students. Summarizing Table no. 2 and Graph 1. The summarizing Table no.2 and its associated graph emphasize the following: - the average grades of all the students with respect to their involvement in the teaching process within the seminars and lectures emphasize the improvement developed between the initial and final assessment; - the higher progress is related to the method “at choice” (1.65 points), the lower is related to the “explanation”, although the average associated with this method following the initial assessment was the highest one. X. Conclusions The gathered data analysis emphasized to the following: 1. The hypothesis was confirmed, denoting the fact that the good management of the seminars and courses may lead to the development of the knowledge transfer abilities and creative abilities and to a better rate of attendance at seminars as well; 2. The results depicted in the analytical tables highlight an improvement of the marks granted to the students within the final assessment in comparison with the initial assessment. We may talk about a significant progress (quantified at 1.45 points improvement in the final stage) with respect to the objectives fulfilment; 3. A significant improvement of the average marks granted to the 2nd year students (1 to 1.65 points amelioration of the marks received in the final assessment compared with those received in the initial assessment) related to: component elements assimilation, understanding of execution approach, explanation ability development, and conformation to a concrete situation ability development. 4. The students subject to the study developed new skills and abilities with respect to the following issues: conformation to the teaching method approach, teaching method improvement, creativeness concerning teaching sequences, diverse management of the instructive-educational process. 5. All the students scored progress during the training of their creative ability of managing the educational process, but the progress scored by male students was higher than the progress scored by female students.

AND “MONOPOLY” OF SOME NATIONS IN ORGANIZING MAJOR ATHLETICS EVENTS. WHAT ABOUT ROMANIA?
Dan Iulian ALEXE, University of Bacău Cristina Ioana ALEXE, Ştiinţa Sports Club Bacau Mihaela MACOVEI, Elementary School no. 30, Bucharest Cătălin CIOCAN, University of Bacău
Key words: athletics, competitions, organization
Argumentation The sports events have involved and still involve more and more spectacle, they imply a lot of people and countries, on one hand, but also a lot of financial resources and a good infrastructure, on the other hand (accommodation, transport, refereeing, fees, prizes, standardized stadiums, special sports grounds for throwers and warming up activities, sports village for sportsmen and sportswomen, special security measures). Therefore not every country or nation is capable to support such an event. If in the past the main condition in obtaining the right to organize an important sports event was the financial and logistic support offered by the organizing country, history has demonstrated that besides the success of those competitions (speaking in terms of image and financial aspects), there were situations when the organizing rights were not respected (see the case of Sydney 2000). Sometimes the organizing country was unofficially decided by the political reasons or by the financial interests of the international corporations (media, marketing, broadcasting rights, etc). As far as the important athletics competitions are concerned, there are a number of countries which have proved over the years their tradition to organize high level sports events, and therefore their experience represents a real trump card. We consider that the decision of the international organisms in choosing the organizing country for an athletic event was also based on the fact that other countries have been already involved in organizing sports events in some other sports branches. Nevertheless, there are situations when the same country was involved in organizing a lot of different sports competitions in the same year, in the same or in different seasons (winter, summer, indoor, outdoor, etc)
Aim This research is, in fact, an observational research aiming at presenting some aspects concerning the hierarchy/ranking of countries in organizing important sports events. Taking into account that the importance of different sports competitions cannot be compared (for instance, a European Championship or an edition of the Olympic Games cannot be compared with a World Cross Country Championship or a World Cup), the research also aims at presenting the involvement of different countries from a quantitative point of view.
52
Organization The data were collected from the official websites of IAAF, EAA, CIO, etc; and analyze 236 editions (89 European and 147 Olympic and World editions) of 14 major athletic competitions (see Table 3). We summarized the information and made some rakings taking into account the number of important competitions organized by the same country. We must mention that some political events weren’t taken into account – for instance, one country separation into different countries (the former USSR, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia), or the unification of countries (the current Germany, resulted for the former GDR and FGR). The results analysis and presentation concern only the 14 most important competitions (mentioned in Table 1-3), and more than 40 athletics events at the highest level (the 14 above mentioned, and the Grand Prix events, Golden League stages, Commonwealth Games, Pan American Games, Asian and African Championships, different cups, etc).

Results At the European level, six nations have the “monopoly” in organizing big athletic events: (I) GERMANY, (II) ITALY, (III) FRANCE, (IV) ENGLAND and SPAIN, (V) SWEDEN. All together they organize more than 50% (50 editions) of the athletic events from 1934 (first important European competition was held in Torino) to 2007 (89 editions). As one can see in Table 1, Italy and Germany are the top leaders. As far as Romania is concerned, our country has never organized an edition of an important European Athletics competition, although it is ranked the 19th out of the 38 countries throughout the years. At the world level, as it results from Table 2, France, Italy, and Spain share first position, followed by England, Germany, USA, Belgium and Canada. Belgium, for instance, has organized only two big athletics reunions at European level (two European championships – one outdoor and another indoor), but has organized eight important world events out of which five editions of the IAAF World Cross Country. At the opposite pole, Austria can be
55 noticed with only two organized events at European level and none at world level, although it has the financial capacity and the appropriate infrastructure. The “monopoly” in organizing athletics events belongs to a limited number of Western European countries, USA and Canada; these states organize almost 50 per cent (70 editions) of the competitions which were included in this analysis (147 editions of nine major competitions). Romania isn’t involved in organizing a high level athletics competition, although is ranked 24th out of a total 83 medal-winning countries at the World Championship, and 13th out of more than 100 countries at the Olympic Games. The presence of the African, Asian and South American countries among the top organizing countries is almost inexistent (with only few exceptions: China, Japan, South Korea, Kenya, Chile, Mexico, South Africa and Cuba which have organized one, two or maximum five editions, including the Junior competitions)

Tableau no. 1 COMPETITIONS EUROPEENNES ANALYSEES ** S N ITIO

69 THE NOTION OF PROGNOSIS OF THE SPORTING ACTIVITY BASED ON THE PSYCHOMOTOR TRAINING DURING AN AVERAGE TRAINING CYCLE AT 14-16 YEAR OLD SWIMMING SPORTSWOMEN – INVESTIGATING APPROACH
PhD candidate Elena RAŢĂ “Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava
Keywords: planning, prognosis, questionnaire
Canvassing, prognosis and planning are different, yet converging methods of approaching the future, forming together an integrated complex of interests whose importance shows a tendency of constant increase even in the area of competitive sports. C. Florescu, 1985. The prognosis represents an anticipation of the events or results in view of reducing the uncertainty concerning the future evolution of the process; most of the times this thing implies the use of some complex mathematical methods. A prognosis represents a scientifically and practically based judgment about the possible tendencies of the studied object, both from the point of view of time and different categories. When prognosis is made, it is very important to understand what relation exists between certain aspects and which of them should be analyzed and included in the pattern, at the moment when a certain problem is studied. In order to obtain some information concerning the notion of prognosis of the sporting activities and the importance of the psychomotor training in obtaining sports achievements, we have applied the method of inquiring the specialists in the field of physical training and sports. The questionnaire concerning the specialists in the field comprises a number of 18 questions with 102 answering choices. The object of the questionnaire is: To establish the level of knowledge of the teachers and trainers relative to prognosis in sports; Aspects concerning the content of applying the questionnaire 1. Even though the subjects declare to be familiar with the methods of prognosis in sports, these are not known or used adequately. Independent variables: age, sex; Dependent variables: level of knowledge of the teachers and trainers concerning the prognosis in sports, representation of the prognosis role in obtaining the sports achievements, awareness of the value of prognosis in sports. It has been put into practice by self-distribution, the subjects remaining in the possession of the forms for 24-48 hours. There have not been registered any major difficulties during the process of putting into practice. Results of the analysis of the questionnaire – statistical data and interpretation The statistical analysis of the gross data has been done by means of the computer software SPSS 10.0 (Lungu, O., 2001) and it had in view three levels of analysis: 1. Identification of some relevant aspects by descriptive statistical analysis at a level of frequency of answers to the questionnaire items;
70 2. Identification of some significant problems between the variables of research by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficients; 3. Identification of some significant differences between the established groups of independent variables compared to the dependent variables of research, by means of calculating the significance of the difference between the averages through the One Way Anova method. Although the subjects declare to be familiar with the prognosis methods in sports, they are not known and used adequately. Identification of the way in which the teachers and trainers represent to themselves the role of prognosis in obtaining the sports achievements – representations in percentages.

Chart no. 1 Familiarity – prognosis methods in sports
The statistical analysis of the frequency of answers has emphasized a distribution of scores such as it is shown in chart no. 1. According to the analysis, the distribution in percentages for the three answering choices is a balanced one, 36% of the subjects answering that they are familiar with the problem of prognosis, an equal percentage stating the contrary. 29% of the subjects choose the variant: “less familiar”. The answers to the item which required to the subjects to mention the types of known and used prognosis have been grouped in the way illustrated in the following presentation: 38% mention that they know and use the operational prognosis, 29% mention the short-term prognosis, 26% the medium-term prognosis, 4% the long-term prognosis and only 3% the very long-term prognosis. Relevant for the answers to these items is that although the options given for selection also contained the terms corresponding to the types of prognosis by relating them to the sporting cycles, in most of the cases these ones were not recognized as such and they were avoided or ticked inadequately. This last element may represent a further argument for confirming the objective.

Chart no. 3 Estimated duration for short-term prognosis A low level of knowledge in the field of prognosis is also emphasized by the item requiring the subjects to estimate the duration of a short-term prognosis: only 42% of the subjects placed the short-term prognosis within the interval of 3-6 weeks, and (6%) within the interval 2-3 hours, most of the subjects mentioning that this type of prognosis lasts for 1-2 years (52%). Regarding the naming of the known prognosis methods, the subjects’ answers emphasize, such as the initial supposition has been formulated, the existence of confusion in the area of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field, including methods which are not specific to this one. Chart no. 4 illustrates the distribution in percentages of scores: 30% of the subjects choose correctly the method of modeling, and only 10% of the answers mirror the choice of the method of extrapolation and an equal percentage of the method of expertise, the difference in percentages of choices being placed in the area of some unspecific methods. Thus, 21% of the subjects mention the method of planning as method of prognosis in sports, 16% the statistical-mathematic method, and 13% choose the method of investigation. This distribution of answers represents an argument supporting the first premise of the research – the filed of prognosis, although important, does not enjoy a wide familiarization at the level of trainers and teachers. With respect to the investigation of the modeling types applied in the sports practice, the answers to the item investigating this aspect outlined a higher level of knowledge, the distribution in percentages of the scores placing on the last level the types of mathematical modeling (1%) and placing hierarchically (in the order of frequency of choices) the modeling types, as it follows: physical modeling (30%), psychological modeling (25%), pedagogical modeling (23%), biological modeling (13%) and chemical modeling (8%).

Another investigated level is the one of knowing the aspects resulted from using the prognosis in obtaining the sports achievements. The item, formulated under the form of a multiple-choice question, included both the variant “I do not know” and an incorrect variant:
73 “the estimation of the most efficient tendencies in the development of the sports discipline”, next to the two correct possible variants. The distribution of scores emphasized the fact that most of the subjects place correctly the choices (50% consider that the natural result of prognosis is to elaborate training plans, schedules and projects and 21% to estimate the main positions for obtaining the competitive results). Yet, the existence of 21% choices for the incorrect option (the estimation of the most efficient tendencies in the development of the sports discipline) represents an exclamation mark concerning the theoretical errors done in the field and a proof of specific ignorance (recognized by 6% of the subjects who circled the variant “I do not know”). Chart no. 6 illustrates this state of fact, confirming partially the objective of the questionnaire. Chart no. 6 The familiarization with the aspects resulted from the use of prognosis in obtaining sports achievements
According to the data pointed out by the descriptive research carried out, it may be considered that at the level of teachers and trainers there is an awareness relative to the importance of prognosis in sports, yet not doubled by savoir and specific practices. We may also mention here that the questioned specialists do not know the directions and periods of prognosis which have a major importance in training the sportspeople; thus, the short-term and medium-term prognosis periods may influence decisively the approach of sports achievements, where the stage-training schedules and the application of multiple methodologies for improving the sports achievements may be corrected. It should also be mentioned that in the case of the teens-age, the trainers do not make use of the influence of psychomotor and psychological changes specific to this age, and they are interested especially in obtaining the sports achievements by all means.

80 PARAMETRII GENERALI AI STRESULUI
Anca-Simona STAN, Universitatea „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Iaşi
