Media release 11 March 2015 Esquires opens first international airport store at Jeddah Esquires Coffee Houses has opened its first ever airport location in Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Airport which is the gateway to Islam’s Holy City of Mecca. It is Esquires eighth store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Cooks Global Foods (NZX:CGF) franchisee in Saudi has completed an extended kiosk store at the airport which is less than 20 kms from Jeddah. With 17 million passengers a year – Auckland International Airport processes about 14 million1 - the airport is reputedly the busiest in Saudi Arabia is the third largest in the kingdom. Cooks chairman Keith Jackson says it’s a booming location. 1 Source: Auckland Airport Fast Facts 2013 “The airport covers more than 100 sq kms and there’s a specially designed Hajj Terminal for pilgrims travelling to Mecca as part of the annual pilgrimage.” “Our site is in a prime position and we are delighted with the hugely prestigious location. Already it is trading exceptionally well.” The airport Esquires Coffee House is owned by Cooks’ Saudi franchisee and has a staff of six, all new jobs in a country where the unemployment rate is almost double New Zealand’s at more than 11 per cent2. Mr Jackson says there were some extended negotiations required to gain access to the King Abdulaziz Airport but it took only six weeks for the design and construction of the premises. Cooks New Zealand subsidiary Design Environments provided design input into the new store. The news out of Saudi Arabia follows Cooks’ announcement last week that Esquires China had opened its 21st store in the Peoples Republic and the second in Beijing’s Surprise Outlets, a shopping centre of more than 35,000 sq. m. That store opening was attended by NZ Minister of Trade Tim 2 http://www.cdsi.gov.sa/english/ Groser, created 12 new jobs and Cooks says the opening is representative of a further step in the company’s growth plans for China. NZAX & Media Release 21st September 2017 Cooks to establish JV for Middle East, Africa and West Asia Term sheet establishes venture to drive regional branded coffee growth; JV partner to take a minority stake in Cooks Cooks Global Foods (NZAX.CGF) today announces it has agreed to establish a joint venture with its current Saudi Arabian Master Franchisee, Anasia Foods to drive the growth of its branded coffee outlets in the Middle East, North Africa, and West Asia (MENAWA). Cooks has entered a term sheet with Anasia Foods that envisages: Anasia Foods, contributing Esquires Saudi Arabia (the Saudi Arabian master franchisee) into a new Dubai-based company. Cooks acquiring a half share in the new Dubai company for approximately NZ$2.8 million (subject to exchange movements in the SAR/NZD cross rate). Cooks contributing to the joint venture the master franchise rights for Esquires Coffee in Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates for NZ$945,951. This consideration will be offset against Cooks’ payment for the 50% stake in the Dubai company. Anasia Foods will subscribe for Cooks shares at an issue price of 7.75 cents per share from the Cooks Investment Holdings Limited underwriting arrangement for the net amount. Anasia to appoint a Director to the Board of Cooks. Following completion of the transactions, the new Dubai-based joint venture will be the Cooks Master Franchisee for all the MENAWA region. Cooks Global Foods (NZAX.CGF) today reports continued strong growth in constant currency1 quarterly sales across its global Esquires Coffee store network, with the ongoing store refurbishment programme underpinning performance. Constant currency network store sales - a leading indicator of the revenue Cooks expects to generate from design fees for new and refurbished stores and recurring revenues, such as royalties, coffee product and other retail sales, were $11.0 million in the three months to 31 December 2017. The result represents an 8.1% increase on the same period a year ago, and is a record quarterly result for the group. Esquires UK - Balham region.
