know the addon still ausm cop. It regularly pings to specified hosts and then divides eg by email with whether the hosts are still available. For simple monitoring I find the whole thing very pleasant and not as overloaded as Nagios / Icinga.

But I can only speculate why it takes a little longer. I guess the whole mail functionality is a lot of work. This is already a standard feature in the IPCop2. However, the old cop didn't have any email functionality either and sfeddersen simply built it into the add-on.

Take a look. I would definitely be interested.

Hello, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm I'm ready to successfully build the first addon package.

This is what copymaster is currently testing.

In the course of the next few days I may get to the point where a first test version can be published.

Is it possible to integrate this approach in your ADDON? From a certain time (can be changed per day), the script asks certain specified IPs or IP-Rages whether they are online or not, after none of the IPs is in the network, the IPFIRE shuts down after a delay time. Since the shutdown only takes e!ect after a certain time, the IPFIRE runs through without this query. Take a look at the script. I've been using it myself since WERNER posted it here to shut down my IPFIRE at night. I wake up every morning via WOL from an AP. Even if a USER has to go back to the Internet during this time when the IPFIRE is OFF, he can wake up the IPFIRE via local WOL and that also works, even if he does not have an IP from the network. Has something of a Green IT approach. It would be great if this could be integrated into your ADDON, possibly only in the second version.

Location: NRW Can you also integrate it there, as it is certainly interesting as a delicacy. Here again briefly the functional explanation. Queries within a flexible time window ~ 23:00 - 04:00 times as an example of the IP networks Geen, Blue, OVPN, with a flexible query time every 5- ?? Minutes if time window is active. Then the possibility of querying IP ranges or individual IPs. If none of the IP's is online and the time window is active, the IPFIRE shut down.

I am not the author of the script. I corrected him only. As first Install nmap with pakfire. The script is best placed here: / srv / web / ipfire / cgi-bin Must have executable rights. You need to edit that IP addresses you want to display in the section LISTIP. Each line in the section LISTIP must be terminated with \ URL in your browser: https: // IP of your IpFire: 444 / cgi-bin / status.cgi

CODE: SELECT ALL

Hi all, Posts: 5001 @GaaD Joined: October 9th, 2010, 10:00 am nice idea . This is surley not a substitute for sfeddersen´s work but as a short one another bash<-->cgi hack...

Under /srv/web/ipfire/cgi-bin a new dir called user with a nmap.cgi in it.

nmap.cgi content:

CODE: SELECT ALL

#!/bin/bash -

# Name: nmap.cgi ########################################## # Bash cgi Ausgabe ueber den Browser # ummeegge[at]ipfire.org 18.10.2013 ##########################################

# HTML "Content-: text/html; charset=utf-8"; echo;

# HTML locations footer="/srv/web/ipfire/html/docs/footer.txt";

should investigate the IPs automatically but needs also little time so stay tuned...

also under /srv/web/ipfire/html/ a new dir called /docs with a 'header.txt' , 'footer.txt' and a 'line.txt'

header.txt content:

CODE: SELECT ALL

User definierte Bash Skripte auf Basis eines IPFire Systems

System Status Ausgabe:

footer.txt content:

CODE: SELECT ALL

ENDE Der Ausgabe

line.txt content:

CODE: SELECT ALL

As a beside info.

Greetings,

Hello Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm everyone, I can finally provide you with the first ALPHA version of the WIO add-on for IPFire for testing.

Download the package at http://www.h-loit.de/extern/ipfire/wio-1.0.30-1.ipfire.

Installation:

Copy the package to the IPFire, execute the command tar xvf wio-1.0.30-1.ipfire - / opt / pakfire / tmp in the same directory . Then change to the directory / opt / pakfire / tmp and execute the command export NAME = wio . Then run ./install.sh . Now the WIO add-on should be installed on the IPFire. It can be found under the menu item "Status".

I appreciate your feedback and help with the English translation!

Greetings

Hello Stefan,

FischerM ... what takes a long time ... Community Developer

great! I was just really happy that it still worked and that I was already working on it. Posts: 1025 Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm First feedback: 1. The installation on a fresh Core95 installation was inconspicuous, but the command "EXPORT ..." likes * no * spaces. (Copy & was my enemy ...)

2. GUI and settings look ok and familiar, but despite running clients the respective status is not updated:

The client added via ARP has "no status" and those added by hand are permanently "inactive" "although definitely" online ".

3. There were complaints in the '/ var / log / httpd / error_log':

Hello Matthias, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm thanks for the first response.

Can you please run the / var / ipfire / wio ./wio.pl -d directory on the console and post the output here?

Is there a file called wio in /etc/frcon.minutly?

You can ignore the error messages in the httpd error.log or deactivate it in the wio.cgi if it bothers you. To do this, in line 30 of the wio.cgi simply use warnings; comment out.

I also set up a fresh Core95 here.

Hello Stephan,

FischerM The output '/var/ipfire/wio/wio.pl -d' pissed o!. The machine is a test machine and OFFLINE (Sorry - my mistake - I forgot to mention Community Developer this morning, it was a little early ...): Posts: 1025 CODE: SELECT ALL Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm

[root@ipfiretest ~]# /var/ipfire/wio/wio.pl -d Could not open /var/ipfire/red/iface at /var/ipfire/general-functions.pl line 1118.

I've just given it a static IP, output now:

The status of 'FS3' has changed accordingly in the GUI - it is now " ACTIVE ". Should I test this afternoon on the productive computer !?

Thank you Stefan. Of course I tried it out right away. For me, sending emails only works for the first polling after adding the host. If I switch o! a host and for the polling time, the host is correctly recognized as inactive in the WIO web interface, but an email is not sent (although activated). It is exactly the same when the host is switched on again, no emails are sent here either.

Otherwise, thumb up, felt like being on the old cop right at home: F.

I think I had a similar problem on the cop. At first I thought it was due to the non-pingable host, but you are also testing via ARP (works fine with hosts in the DMZ, too). So with "individual mails" loifts (as our trainees always like to say ).

If status changes (online / o"ine) occur afterwards, he no longer sends any emails. Single emails work, however. The problem seems very familiar to me, I can swear that WIO already had this or a similar problem on the IPCop.

Re: Who Is Online! for the IPFire 1 Hellfire 0 by Hellfire » December 30th, 2015, 6:23 pm Posts: 697 Joined: November 8th, 2015, 8:54 am Hi,

I have installed the whole thing on Core 95 now.

After a manual refresh, which, by the way, took forever, I initially thought the respective hosts (32) would have to assemble in the network in the "Clients" area. But that wasn't the case until I discovered the import button (s) below and imported the clients from my hosts. Well, this is a user error.

After that, the clients were all listed for the first time. But they are all listed as inactive , including the client from which I am currently writing this post.

Well, I thought press the refresh button in the respective line (!) Of the client concerned. After this took forever (via ping), the client was still marked as inactive. I had the impression that a single refresh pinged the entire client and not the one that I actually wanted to update.

I think the long refresh time is also related to my network: 192.168.0.1/16

Ah, now an e-mail has just arrived that the said client is online. Why does an e-mail come if the corresponding options are not activated on the client? In addition, I am still getting a lot of emails that tell me the inactive status of the other clients. That's not normal either, is it? See also screenshots with the global options and the screenshot of one of the clients.

What also amazes me is why the Mac address is listed in the ARP list for some clients and not for some. Does the Mac address only exist when the device is switched on?

Hi,

FischerM a few comments: Community Developer

Depending on the FORWARD or OUTGOING firewall (both are set to BLOCKED by default!) You may need additional rules to avoid Posts: 1025 something like that: Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm

Funnily enough, the source IPs are the internal, green IP of the IPFire, on the other hand the external, red one. In order to prevent the FW log from filling up senselessly, I had to set two suitable FW rules for ICMP ECHO (7) in the OUTGOING:

The connections match during an update:

The clients in the list "Add client from the ARP table:" is actually exactly the same list as under "Status" - "Network (other)" entries in the ARP table.

In my opinion, the MAC addresses are only displayed for active clients.

@ Hellfire, maybe Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm it's really because of the large network.

Can you run ./wio.pl -d in the / var / ipfire / wio directory on the console and post it here?

There you can see how long a "refresh" of all clients really takes.

How is the network area displayed for "Search green network at green0:"?

Thanks!

It takes a long time until the first IP address appears after the script has been executed, i.e. the IP that is listed with ID 1. The IP 192.168.0.1 there is actually the router itself and the host that is pinged is an entry for distributing the wpad file to the clients according to instructions from the wiki.

As a test, I set this IP or the host to inactive in your module (under clients :) and called the script again. But the result is the same, now it takes longer until the next IP (192.168.6.1) appears.

1 sfeddersen wrote: How is the network area displayed for "Search green network at green0:"?

The range is from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.255.254.

Hello Michael, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm yes, that will be due to the large green network area.

When checking the clients, an "arpscan" is first carried out on all network interfaces. Only then is a "ping" checked.

The "arpscan" will ensure that it feels like an eternity before the test starts.

For testing purposes, you could comment out line 118-133 in wio.pl and then run ./wio.pl -d again and post the output here.

Thanks a lot for this.

Thanks and regards, Michael

excerpt from the Arpscan manpage

1 The time taken to perform a single-pass scan (ie with --retry = 1) is given by:

time = n * i + t + o

Where n is the number of hosts in the list, i is the time interval between packets (specified with --interval, or calculated from --bandwidth), t is the timeout value (specified with --timeout) and o is the overhead time taken to load the targets into the list and read the MAC / Vendor mapping files. For small lists of hosts, the timeout value will dominate, but for large lists the packet interval is the most important value.

With 65,536 hosts, the default bandwidth of 256,000 bits / second (which results in a packet interval of 2ms), the default timeout of 100ms, and a single pass (--retry = 1), and assuming an overhead of 1 second, the scan would take 65536 * 0.002 + 0.1 + 1 = 132.172 seconds, or about 2 minutes 12 seconds.

therefore an increase to 1Mbit could improve the whole thing significantly. '' --bandwidth = 1M ''

also stumbled over here:

1 The list of target hosts is stored in memory. Each host in this list uses 28 bytes of memory, so scanning a Class-B network (65,536 hosts) requires about 1.75MB of memory for the list, and scanning a Class-A (16,777,216 hosts) requires about 448MB.

maybe you can first check how big the network is before calling arpscan, if someone really has defined a class A and that on a box with little RAM. Or stop with Class B then increase the bandwidth or something. /

Hello everyone, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm the next ALPHA version of the WIO add-on for the IPFire for testing:

Download the package at http://www.h-loit.de/extern/ipfire/wio-1.0.32-1.ipfire.

Installation:

Copy the package to the IPFire, in the same directory the command

CODE: SELECT ALL

tar xvf wio-1.0.32-1.ipfire -C /opt/pakfire/tmp

To run. Then change to the directory / opt / pakfire / tmp and the command

CODE: SELECT ALL

export NAME=wio

To run. Then

CODE: SELECT ALL

./install.sh

To run.

Now the WIO add-on should be installed on the IPFire. It can be found under the menu item "Status".

The following has been fixed:

- Collective mail now works - Mail function of the addon completely recreated - Superfluous error messages for error.log deactivated - Error in wio.pl fixed (if the red interface is not configured, WIO runs anyway) - FischerM's suggestions for English translation have been adopted - Typo corrected (Thanks FischerM!)

Greetings

You can put a link under the IP by activating the HTTP field. However, if the device does not have to be reached via http but via https, this will of course not work.

I hope that I can use it to replace the script from user Werner, which I mentioned at the beginning. It is important to me that the IPFIRE shutdown after a certain time ~ 15-30 minutes when there is no longer any user in the network. I hope that can be done with it.

Note on the function: I currently have two IPFires in the same network and to the same Internet provider (upstream Fritzbox) My active IPFIRE assigns the IP, DNS and also the gateway to the clients via DHCP. Now I have installed V 1.0.32-1 on my backup / test firewall to test this add-on and have noticed the following: Two addresses are shown to me in the add-on, once the RED interface of the IPFIRE test and the second the client with which I access the IPFIRE test, so far so good. This client is displayed as "NO STATUS" under the "Status" line. Does that come now because the IPFIRE test is not the one that regulates the actual Internet tra!c or is the constellation with two systems here possibly not suitable for the function of the add-on? I installed the whole thing on a development build: next / 1775dbd2 Core 100 from March 10, 2016. Or are there still problems with the status of the clients?

Additions / improvements for the add-on: 1. In the setup there is the item shut down if no client is online anymore, an additional time should be set here so that, if you are the last one in the network, you can do it again shortly after switching o" the client Go online while IPFIRE is still active. So shutdown only in (no more client online + X min or so).

2. A timely check of when the IPFIRE will shutdown at all, in my opinion extremely important. This allows you to set when the IPFire should always be permanently online (even without an active client) and from when it goes into shutdown if no client is online anymore, e.g. as an example at night from 01:00 to 06:00 Test the presence of clients, the icing on the cake would be if this could be extended to weekdays. I think that makes the whole thing even better.

3. If it is important from my point of view that the shutdown behavior of the client is pending, this means that you need a tick for the client who is responsible for the shutdown being active. So which client should activate the shutdown process if this or a group of clients is / are no longer online.

Hi,

FischerM GIT only contains the SOURCE texts - you need a development environment for that. Community Developer

If Stefan doesn't mind (?), I can build the current version in the next few days and put a download link for the manual Pakfire installation Posts: 1025 here. Or he himself has a corresponding package on hand (?). Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm

The (pre) version runs here without any noticeable problems - there have been a few minor changes since then.

The Pakfire file from http://www.h-loit.de/ipfire/wio/wio-1.3 ... _21.ipfire'download. Posts: 1025 Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm Copy via 'winscp' or similar to '/ opt / pakfire / tmp' on the IPFire.

Unpack with 'tar xvf wio-1.3.1-1_build_2017_07_21.ipfire'.

Start 'install.sh', done.

Then enter the clients to be checked manually or from the ARP table or via import.

Click on 'Configuration' at the bottom right, make the required settings.

Waiting.

After the set 'time interval (s) for the check' has elapsed, the corresponding graphs should appear on a separate page using the 'Show graphs' icon.

If I forgot something, please add ...

HTH, Matthias

EDIT: Almost forgot: runs fine (32bit)! Thanks Stefan! /

Oh, that's what I was missing: You still have to unpack the whole thing

Thank you, the installation worked perfectly! At the moment the addon is still scanning the green network.

Re: Who Is Online! for the IPFire 1 Hellfire 0 by Hellfire » July 23rd, 2017, 7:59 am Posts: 697 Joined: November 8th, 2015, 8:54 am Somehow the add-on doesn't work as it should, at least not for me.

After installing I added clients from the DHCP entries and I have a lot: 64 pieces. My IP range: 192.168.0.0 with a mask of 255.255. 0.0 but that shouldn't matter in the end, because the addon only has to check the known 64 clients.

After adding from the DHCP settings (all static addresses), the add-on first showed me all as inactive. Well, I thought, you wait until the next day, but I just get the same ad today.

Then I took one of the clients, to be precise the one I'm writing this post about, and pressed the update button on the left. After a long wait, I'm talking about several minutes, still no status that I would have expected.

Well, setting of this client changed from FQDN to IP and updated again. Here again only the message "Condition of the examining client (s) are updated .." and nothing else happens.

In other words: the display is not updated either manually or automatically based on the settings of the add-on. All clients are shown as inactive, although at least 10 of them are always active.

Is there another parameter that I could set and test? Despite the legal option, there is no indication of problems in the messages.

Greetings, Michael

Moin,

FischerM I had something like that (back then -> a long time ago ... ) too. Community Developer

Is there anything in the firewall logs (FORWARD, OUTGOING)? Posts: 1025 Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm Ev. do you block outgoing ICMP?

What kind of clients are they? Do they usually answer to a 'normal' PING?

You would have to release IMHO at least ICMP ECHO (7) according to GREEN.

At that time, both FORWARD and OUTGOING were blocked for me. So that WIO could work, I had to reinsert releases for FORWARD (ICMP) and OUTGOING (ICMP / ECHO (7)) according to GREEN.

(Addition), I thought up to now. I also have some IPs in the green network that are reported as inactive, although they can be reached online and via ping. E.g. my Philips TV is always inactive, even after activating / sync several times, no chance to activate.

[root @ ipfire1 ~] # ping 192.168.177.70 PING 192.168.177.70 (192.168.177.70) 56 (84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 1 ttl = 64 time = 2.17 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 2 ttl = 64 time = 0.213 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 3 ttl = 64 time = 0.206 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 4 ttl = 64 time = 0.264 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 5 ttl = 64 time = 0.255 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.177.70: icmp_seq = 6 ttl = 64 time = 0.209 ms

Who Is Online_.jpg (07/10 KiB) Viewed 3523 times Here is an addendum: a while after all the attempts, the Philips TV is also displayed online. Perhaps you just have to be patient, but is that right, if you synced the IP, the result should be available at short notice. How long it took now I can't say, but it took at least several minutes until I had no idea.

In addition, I have a question of understanding: The names in the WIO of the clients from the ARP cache correspond to the names of the DHCP server configuration, which are there under comments. The names in the WIO AddOn adopted correspond to the host names / FQDN from the host file.

Is that what you want, or am I getting something wrong or is it a mistake?

Example: A PC is named in the DHCP config under the note PC-Philipp-INTEL.kalli.local, then also the excerpt in the WOI from the ARP cache, in the WOI config then the name from the host file philipp.kalli.local It is one and the same PC.

So I basically set FORWARDING to Blocked and selectively enabled the Windows clients with the appropriate rules.

Including the following rules:

Nothing is written to the firewall log only when a single client is updated on the WhoIsOnline page as a test.

So good advice is expensive ^^ Michael

Hi,

FischerM I can only describe how things are going here without any problems: Community Developer

FORWARD: Blocked , OUTGOING: Allowed . Posts: 1025 Joined: November 2nd, 2011, 12:28 pm ICMP allowed in FORWARDING for all (all / all).

And if in the "paranoid" setting (both FORWARD and OUTGOING => blocked , it was a while ago) WIO didn't get through, I could see it in the logs immediately. So I'm a little surprised that you don't see anything in the FW logs.

what option (s) do I have to uninstall the add-on?

I found an uninstall.sh in the directory, but either it doesn't belong to WIO or it doesn't matter because:

1 [root @ ipfire tmp] # ./uninstall.sh Creating Backup ...... Finished. Removing files ... cat: / opt / pakfire / db / rootfiles /: Is a directory ... Finished. [root @ ipfire tmp] #

Edit: the page cannot be called after uninstall.sh, but the menu entry remains ...

Can someone please give me a small wink with the fence post?

Hello FischerM and Hellfire, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm which IPFire version do you use?

x86_64-full-core111 or i586-full-core111?

I think that has something to do with Hellfire's problem.

I would be happy to receive information on this.

Thanks.

Hello, Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm thanks for the info.

I created the addon package wio-1.3.1-1_build_2017_07_21 in an IPFire build environment i586.

Therefore it will probably not work on an IPFire 64Bit.

I did it again on a 64Bit IPFire:

The main reason is the file "wioscan" in / usr / local / bin, which causes an error when running.

-bash: / usr / local / bin / wioscan: No such file or directory

If I then execute "wio.pl" in / var / ipfire / wio, I get this error message:

Can't call method "ping" on undefined value at ./wio.pl line 203.

Since wioscan is not executed, the arpcache is not filled in the wio.pl and thus the call of the wio.pl fails.

An insert of

CODE: SELECT ALL

push (@arpclients, "127.0.0.1");

in line 163 of the wio.pl "fixes" the problem.

But it's just a "quick and dirty" workaround.

Browsing the networks is also a!ected, as wioscan is also used there.

I have to take another closer look at that.

Thank you very much for your patience.

They expect an ld-linux.so.2 under / lib, which is not available there. Unfortunately, a symlink to the target of @ ld-linux-64.so.2 under the desired name does not solve the problem, because wioscan and wiohelper then complain that the library is defective (which is somehow true from a 32-bit application point of view ). /

Re: Who Is Online! for the IPFire 1 sfeddersen Community Developer 0 by sfeddersen » August 9th, 2017, 6:24 pm

Yes, I've already found that out. Posts: 53 Joined: October 12th, 2012, 1:15 pm I have already created a package for x64 systems of the addon, which is going on so far. However, there are a few other minor issues with an x64 system that need to be addressed.

As soon as I get that under control, there will be new packages for testing.

Hi to all.

Sorry to in English, but I do not know anything about German.

I've tried the new WIO addon and it looks spectacular. I have a suggestion: Roberto Peña Why not, because it is capable of detecting computers in the networks, objects are automatically created at Firewall level in "Firewall" - Posts: 761 Joined: July 16th, 2014, 3:56 pm > "Firewall Groups" -> "Host", in "Networks" and in "Network / Host group "? Location: Bilbao (España) Contact: 2 Thus it would not be necessary to create them manually and would unify criteria of naming of the objects and would be more coherent.

It's an idea.

Greetings and thank you very much.

If I take a not yet monitored IP from the ARP table and insert it, the following problem arises. Before I insert it, I tick the box for sending mail for "online" and then save "o#ine". I don't get "No status available" for this IP even after synchronizing. If I insert the IP without ticking the "online" and "o#ine" checkboxes, the status is immediately "active". That is reproducible. If I check the box for sending mails "online" and "o#ine", everything is OK and the status remains "active". Is there still something wrong?

in the current version of Who is online in "IPFire 2.21 (i586) - Core Update 122" , I tried to enter the web interface of our mail server, since HTTP and HTTPS can also be configured. Since the web service crashes every now and then, I would like to monitor it - not just check whether the machine reacts to ICMP.

Unfortunately it only shows "inactive".

Note: The web server is located in a di!erent network, which can be reached via IP-Sec through the IPFire. The following firewall rules apply on both sides: Network A ==> Network B everything is allowed Network B ==> Network A everything is allowed

Thank you for pointers .
