The LVTA Vehicle Register The LVTA Vehicle Register The Vehicle Register includes full details of all vehicles for which members and former members have provided information, together with some details of other vehicles which have come to notice. The full register containing personal details is only available to committee members and other authorised people, subject to the LVTA Privacy Notice. Members’ personal details are only provided to other club members with their specific prior consent. The Club also operates an anonymised Vehicle Register, which is open to club members only. Your name, location, registration number and owner history will not be visible to other club members. Other members may send messages to you through the Register, which you will receive as an email, but your contact details will not be disclosed to others. This approach allows club members to communicate privately whilst satisfying data protection regulations. If you want your vehicle excluded from the anonymised Vehicle Register you can change this setting at any time on your membership record by ticking the relevant box. Notes for guidance Confirming vehicle details as migrated from the manual Vehicle Register The vehicle details recorded on the old manual Vehicle Register have been migrated to the new computerised system. Please check that the details of the vehicle(s) you own are now shown correctly. Over time you may have changed the vehicles you own or they may previously have been recorded incorrectly. This is an invaluable opportunity to correct, refine and update the register so please give it your attention. Note that some vehicles that were exported after they had been retired from service may not, for a number of reasons, have had the correct details or documentation sent over with them. The most common discrepancies are the year of manufacture and the maker's name. If you are uncertain of this information, please contact the vehicle registrar, who will make efforts to ascertain the correct information. This is important to you as an owner, because you will need to have the correct information in order to obtain the correct spare parts for your cab. In the meantime, please enter what information you have. For each vehicle recorded as being owned by you please check the following. • Do you still own the vehicle? - If you don’t own it, please click on ‘sold car’ (even if you never owned it). • Do all the fields have the correct information? – Refer to the notes below for guidance. Edit or add information as appropriate. • Is the full date of registration shown? If you only know the year of first registration (or the year you understand it to have been first registered), show it as 01/01/YYYY. If you don’t know the date this field may be left blank. • Have all the fields for which you have information have been filled in? • Is the registration number shown as ‘DUMMYxx’? - This record was created without knowing the registration number – please enter the correct number of the vehicle, if you know it. If you now own another vehicle please create a new entry as shown below. Entering new vehicle details on the Vehicle Register Registration Enter the current vehicle registration/licence plate number. If your vehicle has a non-original number, such as a British age-related or cherished number or a non-British number issued following export from the UK, please enter the original British number, if known, and enter the current number under ‘modifications’ further down this form. If it was exported from new, please enter its current number in the Registration field. Make and Model Enter the make and model of your vehicle by selecting from the drop-down menus (see the table below for the options available). • The Role of LS-DYNA® in the Design of the New London Electric Taxi
15th International LS-DYNA® Users Conference Automotive The Role of LS-DYNA® in the Design of the New London Electric Taxi Jamie Dennis1, Simon Hart1 1Arup (Advanced Technology and Research), Solihull, UK Abstract The iconic London taxi is known worldwide. The London Taxi Company (LTC) has produced this much loved vehicle for many years with few radical changes. Recently, zero-emission legislation in London and the global demand for cleaner vehicles has prompted an evolution in its design. With investment from owner Geely, the newly branded London EV Company (LEVC) will produce several thousand electric taxis per year from its new headquarters in Coventry, UK. The designers, Emerald Automotive Design (EAD), engaged Arup to analyse all structural and safety load cases. This paper discusses how the versatility of LS-DYNA and the modularity of the keyword file enabled Arup to use a single-model approach for all analysis - from full vehicle crashworthiness through to component- level durability checks - and how this facilitated an efficient division of activity between remote teams in the UK and China. The application of both explicit and implicit LS-DYNA to the various load cases is considered, together with the correlation against physical testing. Special challenges were posed by the requirement to comply with Transport for London’s (TfL) Conditions of Fitness and the need to protect the high-voltage components. Reliance on the LS-DYNA predictions was high, with few prototype stages afforded by the accelerated programme. Successful progression directly from simulation to legislative testing sign-off was achieved for cases including pedestrian protection. Arup’s use of LS-DYNA was key in bringing this lightweight bonded aluminium taxi to market, whilst minimising energy consumption and delivering a solution to the issue of sustainable city transport.
