DOF (degrees of freedom) 3DOF = head rotation and simple controller; 6DOF = head rotation and position plus full controller freedom.

Tracking Inside-out tracking uses cameras in the headset to track the world; light house and outside- in use external trackers to track the headset and controllers.

FOV (field of view) The wider the FOV the more immersive the experience.

Refresh rate The higher the refresh rate the smoother the image and the lower the chance of nausea.

Resolution A higher resolution increases immersion by making more detail visible reducing the less screen door effect.

Enterprise support Developer support/features and hardware services.

Rendering resource There are currently two main levels: PC (a top-spec workstation) or mobile phone (high- spec mobile phone chipset, usually Qualcomm Snapdragon).

Tethered or Wireless Most headsets are either PC powered and tethered with a cable or mobile phone chipset based and contained the headset. A new generation is on the horizon that will be powered by a PC then reprojected in the headset with a mobile chipset.
