Milk NGO’s FARMERS Production working for BACHAT GAT Societies farmers HYDROPONIC Focus Introducing HYDROPONICS to the Farmers from drought regions like & . Clearing misunderstanding about Hydroponics. Connecting with NGOs & similar institutes to spread our idea. To decrease per liter milk production cost. HYDROPONIC Alignment In animal husbandry business 70% of expenditure is done on fodder. This fodder crop is grown in the farm by traditional way which consumes lot of water & space. Hydroponics is the fodder crop production technique which overcomes the drawbacks of traditional way. Besides it’s smaller size & less water consumption Hydroponics is the very economical way of fodder crop production. HYDROPONIC Alignment

Agri. Department of Maharashtra govt. have also started the project named ‘ATMA’(Agri. Technology Management Agency) to provide guidance about Hydroponics. Similar work is happening in Ambegaon tehsil of through NGO named ‘Vidnyan Aashram’,Pabal. Due to initiatives of government, some NGO’s & Project students like us, farmers will easily adopt this Technology and will try to implement. HYDROPONIC Approach Farming gets affected by natural calamities. Hence farmers should have ‘Permanent Income Source’ which won’t get affected by natural calamity.  As hydroponics is not an open field farming it can not get affected by any environmental conditions, even it is a soil less farming. Thus we found it as a best choice for our project. Basically Hydroponics itself is ‘OUT OF THE BOX THINKING’ because of its following features, 1. 70% Cheaper than traditionally grown fodder. 2. No need of soil HYDROPONIC Approach

3. 80% less space required. 4. 90% water saving. 5. Well suited for semi-arid & drought prone region. 6. Enhancement in milk nutritive value. Hydroponics is not just limited upto green fodder production it is a wide concept including many other farm produces (eg. Fruits, vegetables etc.). The only limitation in hydroponics is the daily systematic routine. HYDROPONIC Implementation The main motto of this project is to encourage Dairy business in Maharashtra. It is possible only when we will reach the farmers from each class. To achieve this we planned our project as follows; DIRECT COMMUNICATION

 As explained earlier Hydroponics consumes minimal amount of water thus we can save lot of water in this technique. Doing this we can sustain against one of the biggest social issue of water scarcity. Due to expensive traditional fodder, keeping cattles became unaffordable for farmers, result of this they sell those cattles in slaughter house. As Hydroponics is cheaper, anyone can easily afford animal keeping & no animal will be slaughtered. HYDROPONIC Sustainability

 The only difficulty in our work is How to convince people to use this technique. When we just started our work we faced the problem in communication.  At the same time, sometimes we found people so interested in this technique but they couldn’t implement because of insufficient knowledge.  Sometimes villagers just ignored us because of our casual appearance.  To fix these mistakes first of all we planned a proper and convincing way of communication with villagers.  Also we designed and distributed informatory pamphlets about Hydroponics where-ever necessary. HYDROPONIC Sustainability For bold appearance we all team members have printed the same Hydroponics T-shirt. These pamphlets and T-shirts helped us for getting attention from everyone. Considering all benefits of Hydroponics we have started planning a business plan for this. At first we have estimated the daily expenditure on one jersey cow. On an average one jersey cow gives 16 liter of milk daily. HYDROPONIC Expenditure on one Jersey cow for one day

Expenditure on Expenditure on Traditional Hydroponics Fodder Fodder Green 100 Rs. Hydroponic 23 Rs. Fodder Fodder Bharda 30 Rs. Bharda No Need.

Sarki Dhep 56 Rs. Sarki Dhep 56 Rs.
