Generally speaking, I recommend repealing Subchapter S, but integrating its more legitimate benefits into Subchapter K.

I thought I knew all about a long term relationship, after all I had found my knight in shining armor who had vowed to be mine forever. Ha! Was I wrong! Now that I am slightly older –okay, quite a bit older—I learned the hard way. And boy, did I learn. I had thought I was totally absorbed in my lover and one day along came this wild, bearded fellow who swept me away. Now, you may be wondering, were these two different people? No, he was just one person, but he had changed, or so I thought he did. I later came to realize that I was not seeing him for who he truly was. I was blinded by my idea of how he should be, and this idea of how love was supposed to be played out like in the movies where the boy and girl meet each other by happenstance, they fall in love, get married, have children and everything is just wonderful. Wrong! What the movies fail to tell you is about the often ugly side of relationships, the fighting, arguing, stress and the things that cause disagreements. They also forget to mention that there is a point in a relationship where people are so involved in their routines that they forget the other person has wants and needs.

Halas, Sr. Chief Halas served the Village of Skokie from 1955 until his retirement in 2003. Starting as a patrolman, he worked his way through the ranks; detective, sergeant, lieutenant and cap- tain, and retired as Chief of Police. Not only was he an exceptional leader, he was also a friend to everyone who worked for and with him. He was more than a gentleman, he was a gentle man. He will be missed. Early Niles Center In 1884, the 250 residents of Niles Centre were served by: Fairview School, two meat markets, two blacksmith shops, three greenhouses, three churches, five stores and six saloons. In October 1888, the Village hired Adam Dot- zauer as the "Night Constable" at a salary of $1.00 per week. From 1888 until 1899, Andrew Schmitz was the Village Magistrate. The calaboose (jail cell) was in the back room of Schmitz tavern. During this period, there were no paved roads in the Village. The Village had a magistrate until 1932, when the Niles Center Police De- partment was formally organized. In 1892, John Noesen owned the first motor car in the Village. Henry Heinz was the second citizen of the Village to own a motor car. John W. Brown was appointed Village Magis- Schmitz’s Tavern (Later known as Duffy’s Tavern) trate for the years of 1900 through 1911.     That evening the Cowan’s had reserved a table at the Copa Cabana where Peggy Lee was the headliner. Peggy Lee had appeared in the Café Cristal over many years, always to a full house. As usual Peggy Lee put on a great show. We went back- stage to congratulate her, as the Cowan’s and Miss Lee were the best of friends. As I said in the start of this story, ‘From the East Side walkup to the Plaza Hotel only took twenty years’ but they were some of “The Great Years.” My five days in Anchorage Alaska This story goes back to the days when I was the Treasurer of the Classic Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida. One of my du- ties was to represent the hotel in court cases after working with the attorneys. The lady, (Personnel Director) came into my office with a paper, just served on the new girl in her office by the deputy sheriff. She said, “I do not want to go to Alaska!” My reply was “I’ll go”. The Great Years - Page 162 A couple of phone calls later (Anchorage attorney and the local circuit court) my name had been substituted and a week later with a round trip ticket paid for by the State of Alaska, I was headed for Anchorage.     Carolinas Communication Annual XXXVI 2020 Cartoons and Polarizing Political Rhetoric: A History of the Party Switch of 1964 as Told Through the Strom Thurmond Collection Cartoons Series John A. McArthur Cartoons have chronicled the history of polarizing political rhetoric throughout major shifts in US politics. When US Senator Strom Thurmond of South Carolina and other noteworthy Democrats shifted their allegiances to the Republican party in the early 1960s, cartoonists captured the swing of the political pendulum. Using Strom Thurmond’s personal papers in the Strom Thurmond Collection (part of Clemson University’s Special Collections & Archive), this study examines 16 political cartoons depicting Thurmond’s party switch from his own archive. A content analysis of these cartoons illustrates a focus on setting and character affect as polarizing political rhetoric, plot cues indicating Thurmond’s role as a catalyst in the party switch, and narrator depictions of Southern-ness as central to the time period. In addition, special attention is given to several cartoons which are signed originals provided to the senator by the cartoonists. Keywords: Political Cartoons, Strom Thurmond, Textual Analysis, Archive Polarizing political rhetoric has been a source of both ire and esteem for varying factions of the United States populace over the history of the nation. And such rhetoric has a rich history in the political cartoons published by US newspapers. The Library of Congress and other libraries across America have archived political cartoons and staged exhibits surrounding the power of the pen and the cartoonists that wield them.     Drive You Nutella By Reg P. Wydeven May 5, 2012 One of my favorite episodes of ‘Seinfeld’ is the one where Kramer invests in a non-fat frozen yogurt shop. The yogurt is delicious, and becomes a favorite treat for the gang. After putting on some weight, however, Jerry and Elaine become suspicious that the yogurt is not fat-free. Elaine then decides to send the yogurt to a laboratory for testing. Of course, the tests reveal that the yogurt does, in fact, contain fat. The shop then begins to sell truly non- fat yogurt, which is, of course, awful. The switch causes Newman to have uncontrollable rage and the business tanks. In classic ‘Seinfeld’ fashion, the ending is sad, yet somehow funny. Ferrero USA, Inc., the manufacturer of Nutella, the popular chocolate-hazelnut spread, also had a sad ending recently that they did not find the least bit funny. Last year, Athena Hohenberg filed a lawsuit against the Somerset, N.J. company. Hohenberg, a San Diego mother of a 4-year-old daughter, sued Ferrero for false advertising, claiming that she “was shocked to learn” that “Nutella was in fact not a ‘healthy’ ‘nutritious’ food but instead was the next best thing to a candy bar.” Apparently Hohenberg feels about Nutella the same way George Costanza felt about the allegedly fat-free yogurt: “How could this not have any fat? It’s too good!" Hohenberg bought the gooey, chocolaty spread that is chock full of sugar, palm oil and hazelnuts after seeing advertisements that claimed Nutella was part of a healthy breakfast.
