U2CI™ Software – Quick Start Guide Addendum For bluDock™ enabled Digital Handhelds. Version 3.0.3 for Windows 8 and Later This Quick Start Guide Addendum will explain how to download the U2CI application from the Myron L® Company website and install the U2CI Application on computers running the Windows 8 (or later) operating system. This is an addendum to the U2CI™ Software – Quick Start Guide Version 3.0.3 for Windows XP and Windows 7 guide (P/N U2CIV3QS-WIN). Please read that document completely before preceding. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 8™ (or later) OS with most recent updates installed. Microsoft .NET Framework version 4 or later. o If .NET is not already included in your Windows 8 (or later) installation it may be downloaded for free from Microsoft's Download Center Disk Space: 40 MB of free disk space. INSTALLATION: 1. Download the U2CI Application from the Myron L® Company website @: http://www.myronl.com/main/U2CI_Application_DL.htm’ 2. Double click on the link titled: U2CI_r3.03_Windows.exe. 3. Depending on the security settings of your Windows users account you may see the following dialogue box appear: 4. Click "Yes". 5. Once the file has been downloaded, open up the Downloads folder of your Windows 8 (or later) system. 6. Right click on the U2CI WIN Inst file. o A drop down menu will appear. 7. Select Properties. 8. Select the Compatibility Tab. 9. Check the Run the program in compatibility mode for: box. 10. Select Windows 7 from the Windows OS drop down menu. 11. Click the Apply button at the bottom of the Properties window. 12. Double click on the Link titled: U2CI_r3.03_Windows.exe 13. The standard Windows Installation Wizard will launch. o ALWAYS install the U2CI program in the "Program Files (x86)" folder. 14. If a previous version of the U2CI program is present in the Applications folder, the following dialogue box will appear: 15. Click, "Yes". 16. If you receive an error that you have already signed in, this fix applies to you. In order to access your GroupWise email account through WebAccess, the Proxy Server feature in your web browser must be turned off. In Internet Explorer: • Click on Tools, Internet Options, click the Connection tab, select the configuration you are using (dial-up or LAN). • In the Proxy Server area, de-select the check box "Use a proxy server for this connection". AOL users may have trouble viewing GroupWise WebAccess. The Java scripts that GroupWise WebAccess uses are incompatible with the proprietary browser included with the AOL software. We recommend that AOL customers use Internet Explorer or Firefox to access the WebAccess pages. Please download and install all Windows updates, the latest AOL software, and the latest version of Internet Explorer or Firefox for your operating system. There are many different versions of Windows 7 available. The main issue is whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of the Windows 7 operating system. We have done quite of bit of testing on different PC’s and found that EcoWatch will install and run normally on all of the 32-bit Windows 7 machines that we have tried so far. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows 7 however EcoWatch WILL NOT install. You will get an error message stating that this software is not compatible with the operating system There is a work around for some of the 64-bit versions of Windows 7 that will allow the users to install EcoWatch. This would be to install the Windows XP virtual PC from Microsoft. This is different from the standard Windows XP compatibility mode that is standard on all Windows 7 machines. This Virtual PC basically gives the user the ability to run a 32 bit version of Windows XP from within Windows 7 regardless of whether they have a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 7. XP Mode/Virtual PC is free to download and install on Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate , only. This mode is not available to any of the lesser versions of Win 7 at this time.
