A new monotypic genus, Emberacarcinus n. gen., is erected to accommodate Potamocarcinus darienensis Magalhães, Campos & Türkay, 2013. The two new species and can be distinguished from their respective congeners by the structures of the male first gonopods: Ptychophallus bilobatus n. sp. has a bilobed mesial process whereas Potamocarcinus tapirrhynchus n. sp. exhibits a mesial process as a stout, rounded projection obliquely directed apical-cephalically and partially fused to the mesial lobe of the apical crest. -

Pseudothelphusa ayutlaensis, a new species of freshwater crab (Crustacea: Brachyura: Pseudothelphusidae) from Mexico Fernando Alvarez and Jose Luis Villalobos Coleccion Nacional de Crustaceos, Instituto de Biologfa, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Apartado Postal 70-153, Mexico 04510 D.F., Mexico Abstract.—Pseudothelphusa ayutlaensis, new species, is described from the State of Guerrero, Mexico. The new species is placed in the genus Pseudo- thelphusa based on the presence of a first gonopod with the characteristic broadly rounded mesial process and a well developed subtriangular lateral pro- cess. The unique orientation of the mesial and lateral processes of the first gonopod distinguishes P. ayutlaensis from other species in the genus. The genus Pseudothelphusa de Saussure, Pseudothelphusa de Saussure, 1857 1857, is one of the most diverse within the Pseudothelphusa ayutlaensis, new species family Pseudothelphusidae Rathbun, 1893, Figs. 1, 2 with 22 species (Alvarez & Villalobos 1996, Alvarez et al. 1996), distributed ex- Holotype.—8, cw 24.3 mm, cl 16.1 mm; clusively in Mexico, and one, P. puntarenas junction of Pinela and Tonala rivers, Mun- Hobbs, 1991, from Costa Rica. Over 10,500 names are treated including 6,793 valid species and subspecies (with 1,907 primary synonyms), 1,271 genera and subgenera (with 393 primary synonyms), 93 families and 38 superfamilies. Nomenclatural and taxonomic problems are reviewed in detail, and many resolved. Detailed notes and references are provided where necessary. The constitution of a large number of families and superfamilies is discussed in detail, with the positions of some taxa rearranged in an attempt to form a stable base for future taxonomic studies. This is the first time the nomenclature of any large group of decapod crustaceans has been examined in such detail. Abstract.—Epilobocera wetherbeei, a new species of pseudothelphusid crab, is described from the Dominican Republic. The species can be easily distin guished from other species of Epilobocera by its small size, absence of antero lateral spinulation and characters of the first male gonopods. SEM micropho- tographs of the first and second male gonopods of E. wetherbeei, E. sinuatifrons, E. haytensis and E. gertraudae are provided. The apex of the second male gonopod in all species of Epilobocera studied is hollow, transversely truncate, with a prominent internal rib provided with spines. These characters distinctly separate Epilobocera from species in the subfamily Pseudothelphusinae where the gonopodal apex is spoon-shaped and provided with long setae. The new observations are incorporated into amended diagnoses of the subfamilies Epi- lobocerinae and Pseudothelphusinae. Two New Species and One New Combination of Freshwater Crabs from Mexico (Crustacea: Brachyura: Pseudothelphusidae)

SOC WASH. 107(4), 1994, pp. 729-737 TWO NEW SPECIES AND ONE NEW COMBINATION OF FRESHWATER CRABS FROM MEXICO (CRUSTACEA: BRACHYURA: PSEUDOTHELPHUSIDAE) Fernando Alvarez and Jose Luis Villalobos Abstract.—Pseudothelphusa guerreroensis Rathbun, 1933, is referred to the genus Tehuana Rodriguez & Smalley, 1969, based on the morphology of the first gonopod, with a lobular marginal process partially fused to the mesial process, and the presence of a distinct superior frontal border of the carapace, both traits characteristic of Tehuana. Two new species, Tehuana lamothei and Pseudothelphusa nayaritae, are described from the Mexican States of Chiapas and Nayarit, respectively. Tehuana lamothei was collected 230 km southeast of the present southernmost limit of the genus. Tehuana lamothei is recognized by a gonopod with the most reduced mesial process of all of the species in the genus. Pseudothelphusa nayaritae belongs to a group of species from western Mexico which lacks a marginal process on the first gonopod.
