Blodwyn Pigwas a British Blues Rock Band, Founded in 1968 by Guitarist–Vocalist–Songwriter Mick Abrahams. Abrahams Left Jeth Blodwyn Pig was a British blues rock band, founded in 1968 by guitarist–vocalist–songwriter Mick Abrahams. Abrahams left Jethro Tull, due to a falling-out with Tull vocalist Ian Anderson, after their debut album, This Was, was released, and formed Blodwyn Pig with Jack Lancaster (saxophone and flute), Andy Pyle (bass guitar), and Ron Berg (drums). Ex-Yes and future Flash guitarist Peter Banks became one of several guitarists to succeed Abrahams after he left to form his own band for a time. With Abrahams and Lancaster in the lead, Blodwyn Pig recorded two albums, Ahead Rings Out in 1969 and Getting To This in 1970.[1] Both reached the Top Ten of the UK Albums Chart and charted in the United States; Ahead Rings Out displayed a jazzier turn on the heavy blues–rock that formed the band's core rooted in the British 1960s rhythm and blues scene from which sprang groups like The Yardbirds, Free and eventually Led Zeppelin. Saxophonist–singer Lancaster (who often played two horns at once, like his idol Rahsaan Roland Kirk[citation needed]) was at least as prominent in the mix as Abrahams; some critics[who?] thought this contrast bumped the band toward a freer, more experimental sound on the second album. The single "Summer Day" from the album Getting To This failed to chart, but the quartet became something of a favourite on the underground concert circuit. Largely due to Abrahams's disillusionment with the business side of music, Blodwyn Pig eventually became an on-again, off- again concern; Lancaster at one point became a record producer, and Pyle eventually joined Savoy Brown. Over the years since their original formation, Blodwyn Pig reformed several times, usually with Abrahams and Lancaster leading the group, and recorded two more albums in the 1990s. .

  • PATTO – the JOHN HALSEY INTERVIEW
PATTO – the JOHN HALSEY INTERVIEW Patto, apart from being one of the finest (purely subjective, of course) bands this country ever produced, were not blessed with good fortune. Forever on the verge of making it really big, they broke up after six years of knocking on the door and finding no-one home. Subsequently, two of their number died while the other two were involved in a terrible car smash which left one with severe physical injuries and the other with severe mental problems. Drummer John Halsey is now the only Patto member who could possible give us an interview. Mike Patto and Ollie Halsall are both gone, while bassist Clive Griffiths apparently doesn't even recall being in a band! Despite bearing the scars of the accident (Halsey walks with a pronounced limp), John was only too pleased to submit to a Terrascopic grilling - an interview which took place in the wonderful Suffolk pub he runs with his wife Elaine. Bancroft and I spent a lovely afternoon and evening with the Halseys, B & B'd in the shadow of a 12th Century church cupboard and returned to London the next morning with one of the most enjoyable interviews either of us has ever done. John Halsey: I started playing drums because two mates who lived in my road in North Finchley (N. London), where I'm from, wanted to form a group. This was years and years ago, 1958, 1959. Want to see the photo? PT: Oh, look at that! 1959! Me, with a microphone inside me guitar that used to go out through me Mum's tape recorder, and if you put 'Record' and 'Play' on together, it'd act like an amplifier.

Perhaps, as Prial suggests, Hammond’s relationship to the Vanderbilts did him more good in his early years in music than his social skills. There are questions unanswered and undeveloped in this biography related to Hammond the man, such as his falling out with Aretha Franklin or his quick parting with Dylan. Each chapter of this book comes (another assault on your pocketbook) with a wonderful ‘‘discography’’ that should slow down the pace of reading but will contribute to a great start in building a library of American music of the 20th century. It is quite something how much music Hammond had a role in, and this portion of the book is an important reminder of the times and genres Hammond touched. As with all biographies there are problems and limitations. For those of us raised in the second half of the century, The Producer fails to deliver the same magic surrounding the discovery and signing of ‘‘our’’ heroes as it does around the early stars.

I lost interest half way through David Tennant's tenure in the driving seat of the TARDIS and only came back on board half way through whatshisface's seasons, but I have been massively impressed by Dear Friends, Peter Capaldi, who has brought back the curmudgeonly element that I feel has been Welcome to another issue of the magazine, which missing from the role in recent years. each issue I reiterate that I am not just proud to be the editor of, but that it never ceases to amaze me I lost interest in Dr Who for some years mainly that it has been going for so many weeks without because I had a lodger who was so irritating about a break.

2 Another happened last year when the Rolling Stones dragged Mick Taylor away from undeserved obscurity, and played a series of barnstorming gigs including Glastonbury Festival, and another is going on at the moment and started last night. King Crimson have been, unarguable, one of the most idiosyncratic and artistically interesting bands for forty five years now, since they formed in 1968. Leader Robert Fripp left the music business some years ago, and King Crimson seem to have been on indefinite hiatus since about 2008. However, last year Fripp announced that the band will return, and this week, the new seven piece line-up played their first shows. The silence surrounding these shows is deafening. I spoke to Jakko Jakszyk who is the second guitarist and vocalist with the new King Crimson, last week on Facebook. He was understandably cagey about Dear Friends, what was happening. I asked how the rehearsals were going, and he said that they seemed OK but Welcome to another issue of the Gonzo Weekly. told me to ask him again after they had done a show or two. We are always being told how the music industry is in crisis and how record sales are plummeting.
