Socionics Typings of the main character of the animated serie Teen titans the teen titans Raven : ILI (with an amplification of white ethic) we can see all white intuition indicators in her: dreamy, full of doubt, mystical, both past and future oriented . Raven like to travel in a little imaginary world to hide herself from the external influences of a world who can’t understand her (like we can see in the episode Spellbound ( 6th episode of the third Season). She is inclined to use cynicism that can unintentionally hurt her friends, she is also more a skeptical person rather than a dogmatic/absolute person (black logic>white logic). We can see her painful black ethic in her apathetic behavior as well as her occasional emotional outburst (like in her first battle against Terra) and her awkwardness when she try to open her feeling towards other titans (in the end ) . The importance of her relationship between her and the titans seem to indicate a very good use of white ethic. She have a lot of characteristics frequent with the ILI personnality characteristics (moodiness, misanthropy, secretiveness, pessimism etc…). She is probably one of the most important character while being a secretive person . Like said Slade “it is always the quiet ones”. ILI in history often represented this quiet but important figure (Raven is somewhat similar to Socrates: both are two misanthropic excluded hero who saved the world) . Robin : LSI Robin is a principled and stubborn person who will never give up his world-view, he is cold and lack of flexibility with other people, even with his friends : indicators of white logic (especially when it is at the leading position). His relation with black sensing is evident as well in the positive and negative aspect of this function . he use it as a mean to lead and organize his comrades towards the victory, to have the determination to seek Slade, and use it to enforce his principles of justice on the world ( L+F mechanism), but a lot of his default are related to this function (his desire of revenge, his violence , his aggressive temper, and his authoritarianism towards his friends etc…) . His vulnerable black intuition manifest in his suspicious temper and his occasional paranoid moments. His intense hate for loosing is very common for an LSI. Beast Boy: EIE Enthusiasm, Romanticism, affection, infantile joke, love and hate at the same time Beast Boy is all about black ethics (ethic of emotions). He is also fueled by many of his white intuition related doubt and painful past learning (white intuition ==> intuition of time) behind a mask of humor and by an enthusiastic face. We can see his painful white sensing in his total messy environment and his lack of common life orderliness . His valuing of black sensing can be noticed by his intense determination for protecting Terra from Slade in the episode Betrayal . His passionate romantic behavior is very common for an EIE. I have a question in my mind when i see this character. Did transformation into different species is common for NF :(Remus Lupin (EII) and Sirius Black (IEE) from Harry Potter, Ariel (IEI) from The little Mermaid , and Beast Boy)? I know that they are more likely than other clubs to be transgender but species transformation is kind of extreme. Cyborg: LSE Skepticism, the ability to deal with the most complex technologies, the ability to make logical induction , an adaptive thinking and behavior : all this characteristics indicate a good use of black logic . His unconditional love for pizza ( white sensing hedonism), his peaceful behavior, his down to earth temper and his valuing of his body permit us to see his good use of White sensing . His vulnerable White intuition is not that much explored in the show. It is quite ironic that a muscular genius technologist cyborg got the same type as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Thomas Edison. Starfire : ESE E/ black ethics base: Starfire is enthusiastic, fun-loving, socially hyperactive and her motivations are based on her sentimental state, she know how to love, but can be kind of revengeful and jealous, her feelings can be easily hurt (by Robin’s violent temper or by Beast boy infantile joke). Her white sensing is extremely high, she is always the one who want to bring harmony between the teen titans. White sensing is also related with connection with animals, Starfire is not an exception (her relation with her pet in the episode Can I Keep Him? ). her Vulnerable White intuition manifest with her inability to predict her sister plans . Her contrast personality with raven (who have opposed functions) exploited in the episode Switched illustrate well (in a cartoon universe of course) the ILI/ESE contrast. ESE (especially if female) are often portrayed in fiction as unidimensionnal character . That is quite a shame if we compare them to the complex character how complex was the representative of this type (Victor Hugo). Terra: EIE E base indicators: her emotion totally guide Terra’s action, her love for beast boy, her desire of vengeance after being letting down, her fear against her own power etc… Terra’s emotion are always intense. Her white intuition manifest by constant feel of doubt and her dreaminess at some moment of the anime. We can see her vulnerable white sensing in her poor hygiene (in the episode Terra.). she have a lot of black sensing outburst when she have to use a great amount of will against Slade’s nervous system armor control. We can interpret her desire of control and discipline on herself and her power as a white logic seeking. Her participation with Slade’s fascist-alike ruling of the city seem quite demonstrative about EIE’s affiliation with totalitarianism (Adolf Hitler and Napoleon III was both EIE). It seem that the struggle between good and evil is very common for fictional EIE (Ryuga from Beyblade, Obito Uchiha and Nagato Uzumaki from the anime Naruto). Main Villains Slade: LSI I suppose that people who watched this show are not surprised that Robin and Slade share the same type. Slade’s white logic base function is quite obvious when you see his cold, calculating , stubborn and pedantic character. His desire to discipline and impose his world- view to his apprentices seem quite representative of White logic instructions+ Black sensing enforcement. “That sounds like a threat, young man Quite a good threat, actually. Betrayal, destruction, revenge. We really do think alike.” white logic worldview parallel+ black sensing valuing indicator. His black logic manifest by his authoritarian tone towards Terra and Robin and his incredible will-power who make him able to defeat character far more stronger than him physically (like Beast Boy or the Giant minion of Trigon). His vulnerable Black intuition is explicit in the show : He was unable to see raven’s potential ( like we can see in Bithmark ), he had a suspicious temper face to x red (robin), and he was unable to guess Trigon’s Betrayal . The military walk of his robot in Aftershock 2/2 and the privation of his student’s freedom, and his composure are also very LSI-ish. Trigon : SLE Trigon is a very typical representative of the SLE villain in fiction, a monolithic villain who desire to conquer and control more and more (Black sensing power seeking), have disciplined minion who obey to any of his order (White logic discipline imposing) . His vulnerable white ethic can be illustrated with his cruelty and his lack of good relation with his daughter. He is an intergalactic demon version of many historical conquerors. Like Napoleon Bonaparte, Alexander the great, Oda Nobunaga (all SLEs). Some questions remain. did Napoleon would win if he had a fire monster army like him? Did Trigon would win if he was as short as Napoleon for dodging his enemies attack? Unfortunately we will never know. Blackfire: SEE competitive, goal oriented, domineering, desire to expand her territory: her Black sensing characteristics are quite obvious. She have an obvious preference of Extroversion over introversion, and his black sensing is not enough restrained for an LSI or an ESI. It leave us SLE and SEE as possible options. I think SEE fit much : she is very good for being appreciated like we can see in her first appearance when she was liked by all Titans, that seem a white ethic indicator, white logician because of their stiffness and their critical temper tend to be unsympathetic for other people. She is also far too undisciplined compared to most SLE. .
