Klíčová slova: David Lynch, filmový zvuk, filmová hudba, Mazací hlava, Příběh Alvina Straighta, Inland Empire, Angelo Badalamenti, Alan Splet, Dean Hurley, John Neff ABSTRACT This Bachelor thesis focuses on the soundtrack in the cinematography of David Lynch with its primary goal of analyzing and comparing films of his authorship, in particular Eraserhead, The Straight Story, and Inland Empire. This thesis examines David Lynch’s creative process and establish the essence of his sound design. The aim is to determine wherein lies – and how major of a role plays – the dominant characteristic of David Lynch’s work, its versatility, as well as to explore how the environment, society, and different fields of art influenced the filmmaker in his own artistic expression through the language of sound. To further help answering those questions, an interview with a sound engineer, John Neff, was conducted, in which he talked about his experience of collaborating with David Lynch on several projects.

  • IN DREAMS: DAVID LYNCH REVISITED Owen Pallett, Sarah Blasko, Camille O’Sullivan + More Added to Line-Up
MEDIA RELEASE Monday 19 January 2015 Sydney Opera House presents AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE IN DREAMS: DAVID LYNCH REVISITED Owen Pallett, Sarah Blasko, Camille O’Sullivan + more added to line-up SATURDAY 14 MARCH, 2015 CONCERT HALL, SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE ‘Sound is almost a drug. It’s so pure that when it goes in your ears, it instantly does something to you.’ DAVID LYNCH Following on from its critically acclaimed sell-out debut at the Barbican Centre in London, In Dreams: David Lynch Revisited makes its Australian Premiere at the Sydney Opera House this March. Delving deep into the musical mind behind Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and Eraserhead, a rotating cast of international and local musicians will deliver a live homage to the legendary filmmaker's iconic soundtracks and songs for film and television. In what will be his only Sydney performance, Polaris Prize-winning composer, violinist, keyboardist and vocalist Owen Pallett will make his welcome return to the Opera House stage, along with Australia’s own Sarah Blasko, Kirin J Callinan and renowned harpist Marshall McGuire. They join the existing line-up of Mick Harvey (ex Bad Seeds), Sophia Brous (Brous), New York City based Cibo Matto and Irish chanteuse Camille O’Sullivan. Accompanying each vocalist throughout the evening will be a full band featuring acclaimed In Dreams musical director and musician David Coulter. Ever since the dream-like synths of Angelo Baladamenti drew millions to tune in and wonder 'who killed Laura Palmer?', the Lynchian shorthand has seeped into pop culture ephemera as the filmmaker's iconic versions of chart classics (Roy Orbison, David Bowie, Chris Isaak) and the sublime tones of Julee Cruise have taken a life of their own.
