Having concentrated on the music of Paul McCartney, Johnny Mercer, and Frank Sinatra over the last two years, Pizzarelli has returned to the bossa nova of Jobim with his 2017 release Sinatra & Jobim @ 50.     About the Centro Film Collection The Centro Library and Archives houses one of the most extensive collections of films documenting the Puerto Rican experience. The collection includes documentaries, public service news programs; Hollywood produced feature films, as well as cinema films produced by the film industry in Puerto Rico. Presently we house over 500 titles, both in DVD and VHS format. Films from the collection may be borrowed, and are available for teaching, study, as well as for entertainment purposes with due consideration for copyright and intellectual property laws. Film Lending Policy Our policy requires that films be picked-up at our facility, we do not mail out. Films maybe borrowed by college professors, as well as public school teachers for classroom presentations during the school year. We also lend to student clubs and community-based organizations. For individuals conducting personal research, or for students who need to view films for class assignments, we ask that they call and make an appointment for viewing the film(s) at our facilities. He was born on February 12, 1809, outside of Hodgenville, Kentucky. Lincoln was just eight years old when his father moved the family to the wilds of Indiana and began to clear and farm 160 acres of land in Spencer County. There the family occupied a modest three- cornered lean-to. Lincoln never had more than a year of formal education while growing up, but he learned to read and loved books. By the time Lincoln turned sixteen, he was working as a farm hand and laborer. He also worked as a store clerk and ferryboat rower. He was tall and very strong and gained local acclaim as a wrestler. Lincoln went to law school, walking twenty miles each way because there were no law books in his hometown of New Salem. From 1833-1836 he served as the postmaster of New Salem. He lost his bid for re-election in 1848 due to his outspoken criticism of the Mexican War and returned to Springfield shortly thereafter to resume his law practice. In May of 1860, Lincoln was nominated as the Republican candidate for president while his old foe Stephen Douglas was nominated by the Northern Democrats. Lincoln won the popular vote and the Electoral College and subsequently took office on March 4, 1861.

During this time, the music performed and created by this group of artists has undergone dynamic changes in sound and function, reflecting a new transcultural music identity. This music, commonly referred to as salsa, is being created, performed and transformed by musicians of all backgrounds and social classes. Local composers are incorporating a variety of musical influences into their music and assimilating elements of the city’s music cultures. Today, an eclectic mix of musicians in Vancouver are creating new forms of music rooted in the Afro-Latin music traditions, and are establishing a unique contemporary musical scene. At the forefront of salsa’s local history are the Afro-Latin dance bands prominent in the city’s dance community. Their impact on the musicians and local music culture has been paramount and pivotal to the exposure of salsa to a mainstream Canadian audience. One prominent factor in the continued growth of the music has been the influence of the many non—Latino musicians who have assimilated into the salsa community as performers. Their musical and cultural influences have helped push the music in new directions and maintained the music’s relevance within the wider arts community.

The Daytime Entertainment Emmy ® Awards will be broadcast from Las Vegas for the second year in a row on June 19 th , 2011 over the CBS Television Network, hosted by Wayne Brady, the Emmy ® Award winning actor, singer, and comedian and host of the CBS game show, Let’s Make a Deal . “It is with great pleasure that the Daytime Emmy ® Awards returns to the CBS Network again,” said Darryl Cohen, Chairman, NATAS. “The Daytime Emmy Awards is one of the cornerstones of our business and this year’s Las Vegas-based celebration, produced with our broadcast partner, Associated Television International, and hosted by Wayne Brady promises to be an exciting evening of entertainment.” The 38th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy ® Awards Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to game show hosts Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune and Alex Trebek of Jeopardy! “In honoring Pat and Alex, we’re honoring not only two of the great game shows throughout the history of television,” said Cohen, “but two individuals whose talent and personality have given us an additional reason to tune in and watch.” Associated Television International’s (ATI) President and Emmy ® award-winning producer David McKenzie will serve as executive producer of the broadcast.
