The other parishes within the Marden Vale Team Derry Hill is a growing village to the West of Calne on the A4 leading to Chippenham. It has around 1000 inhabitants. There have been a number of housing developments since 1970 and there is one other currently in application. Christ Church celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2015. Christ Church was originally built for those who worked on the adjacent Bowood Estate. Next to the church is a Voluntary Aided Church of Primary School. The parish includes Studley and extends towards Chippenham along the A4. Bremhill is a very spread-out rural parish, of around 220 houses, which includes the villages of East Tytherton, Charlcutt and several other small hamlets. Farming is diversifying from the land as increasing numbers of professional people choose to commute daily to the larger towns and cities from the quiet of the countryside. The number of retired people has also increased. There are no planned housing developments. A large part of the parish is in a conservation area. The parish church of St Martin of Tours dates back to the 13th Century. The village of Bremhill frequently socialises in the village hall and pub. Foxham is the smallest of the Parishes and is a very rural spread out village with equestrian pursuits rather than traditional farming. There has been little residential building development in recent years, apart from a few individual houses. The population is centred on around 110 houses, many of which are rented out to a ‘floating population’. The RAF base in Lyneham, until its closure, provided a good rental revenue. The Ministry of Defence Training College which has taken over the RAF site is also currently providing housing for their staff by renting property in Foxham. The parish church is dedicated to John the Baptist and was designed by the architect William Butterfield. It is around 140 years old and built on the site of a previous church which was destroyed by fire.
