Biographical Sketch Dr. Franklin S. Page was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention in June, 2006. A native of Robbins, North Carolina, Page was born August 23, 1952. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Gardner-Webb University in psychology. Page earned a M.Div. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His dissertation is in the field of Christian ethics.

Page has served as of First Baptist Church of Taylors, South Carolina; Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia; Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas; and LaFayette Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has served on the executive boards of the South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina Baptist state convention. From 2009 to 2010, Page served as vice president of evangelism at the North American Mission Board. In June, 2010, he was elected sixth president of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. Page is the author of several books and commentaries and has written numerous articles for theological journals and magazines. He has conducted revivals and led Bible, family life, and evangelism conferences across the United States and around the world. Page has served as an adjunct instructor at Southeastern and Southwestern Seminaries. He is married to the former Dayle Gibson of Huntersville, North Carolina.

Scope and Content Note The Frank S. Page Collection (1 linear ft.) consists of correspondence, articles, itineraries, and subject files related to Page’s tenure as president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2006 to 2008. About half the collection is Page’s outgoing and incoming correspondence, both letters and printed emails. Prominent individuals included in the correspondence include John Avant, Bill Clinton, Chuck Colson, Wiley Drake, Ronnie Floyd, Jack Graham, Gloria Haskins, Richard Land, Denton Lotz, Emmanuel McCall, Dorothy Patterson, John Sullivan, Brad Waggoner, and 3

Zig Zeigler. The collection includes numerous articles Page wrote for and other publications as SBC president. Materials in the collection also address issues related to private prayer language, public schools, and child sexual abuse.

Arrangement The collection is arranged in alphabetical order by folder title.
