Nagpur Division

Nagpur Division is situated in the heart of the country and forms the Junction link between the North-South and East-West trunk routes of the Indian Railways system. The Northern Part comprises of Chhindwara, Betul and Hoshangabad Districts of Madhya Pradesh and is flanked by the Satpura range, the climate being very cold in Winter and moderately hot in summer due to the hilly terrain. The Southern and Eastern parts of the Division fall in State comprising of Yeotmal, , Wardha, and Nagpur Districts and is moderately cold in Winter and very Hot in Summer.

The jurisdiction of the Division extends from Badnera (excluding) to Nagpur, Wardha to Ballarshaha (including) and Nagpur to Jujharpur/Itarsi (excluding). In addition, there are Branch Lines serving Amla-Chhindwara, Majri-Rajur and Tadali-Ghugus sections on Board Guage and -Arvi section on Narrow Guage. There are Ghat Sections on both Itarsi-Amla and Amla-Nagpur sections, having 9 tunnels and 2 tunnels respectively to a total tunnel length of 3.45 Kms.

Nagpur is connected to Delhi and Chennai by Grand Trunk Route and Mumbai and Kolkatta. The distance from Nagpur to all the four Mega Metros are somewhat similar. Mumbai is the nearest Mega City at a distance of 826 Kms. Nagpur, known as Orange City, has an Inland Container Depot and an International Cargo Hub is under planning and execution.

Nagpur is famous for its Oranges. We carry them to the nook and corners of the country in addition to other major commodities like Cement, Steel, Limestone, Food grains and ammunition.

Nagpur is also the ‘Tiger Capital of the World’ and attracts tourists to the notified tiger parks and preserves in its close proximity.

SEWAGRAM:

Sewagram or “Village of Service” stands as a humble monument to , the immortal Indian Leader who spread the message of truth and non violence across the Globe. The Ashram represents everything he stood for, and is dedicated to the same cause this great man lost his life achieving. Sewagram is about 8 Kms from Wardha station which falls on Nagpur-Mumbai Railway Route. The nearest Railway Station is Sewagram on Nagpur-Balharshah Section. Set amidst settings, the Sewagram Ashram sprawls across some 100 acres of land consisting of farms and fields, dairies and institutions, offices and residential huts. A stay at Sewagram leaves one rejuvenated and enriched with a new kind of sensitivity towards all mankind.

PAUNAR ASHRAM:

Situated on the bank of Paunar river some 5 miles from Wardha on a little hillock, stands the Paunar Ashram in solitude and splendour. In 1938 a devout disciple of Gandhiji, Acharya , started this Ashram as an experiment in Kanchan Mukti, a desire for complete “Swarajya” making people self sufficient through their own labour.

With Sewagram on one hand and Paunar Ashram on the other, Wardha is seeped in “Karma Yoga” the teachings of “Geeta” and is truly blessed place to be in, if you seek shelter and solace for a while. The nearest Railway Station is Sewagram on Nagpur-Ballarshah Section.

NAVEGAON:

Dr Salim Ali’s Bird Sanctuary with a variety of colourful local birds, species is situated at Navegaon which is about 160 Kms from Nagpur. Boating is available at the lake and jungle safaris are organized for wildlife viewing. The nearest Railway Station is Amla.

ANANDVAN:

Baba Amte’s Ashram ‘Anandvan’ is located 2 Kms from Warora Station. Often referred to as the messiah for the poor and the downtrodden, is perhaps the best known of the rare breed of individuals alive today, who have decided to devote their lives to social service.

TADOBA:

At the Tadoba National Park, forest of teak and bamboo are bamboo are home to tiger, chital, barking deer, wild boar and sambar among other species of local wildlife. The nearest Railway Station is Chandrapur on Nagpur-Balharshah Section.
