Adjudicator Biographies Regional Championship at Tacoma October 18, 2014 ⋅ Tacoma Dome ⋅ Tacoma, WA 2014 FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS MUSIC PANEL (alphabetical by last name) Jeremy Earnhart. Bedford, TX Mr. Jeremy Earnhart is Director of Fine Arts for the Arlington (TX) Independent School District. Educating 64,000 students, Arlington provides comprehensive musical, visual and kinesthetic arts programs. Previously, Mr. Earnhart was Director of Fine Arts for the Irving ISD and director of the state and national champion L.D. Bell High School Band serving from 1998-2009. Performing in top concert ensembles and the 2 o'clock Lab Band, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music and holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. He is currently mid-way through the Educational Doctorate program at Dallas Baptist University. Mr. Earnhart resides in Texas with his wife Gwendolyn and their daughter Kierstyn. Kent Morrow, Locust Grove, GA Dr. Kent Morrow is the Fine Arts Coordinator for Henry County Schools in South-metro Atlanta. He earned his Ed.D. from the University of Phoenix and his masters and bachelor’s from Troy University. Dr. Morrow has more than 20 years of teaching experience having served as a band director, choral director, and percussion instructor. Morrow is an adjudicator for Bands of America, Drum Corps Associates, Central States Judges Association and numerous marching contests throughout the United States. Dr. Morrow is also active in the indoor genre judging for numerous regional circuits throughout the country. He also attended the 2014 WGI Percussion Judges Academy in Houston, TX. Dr. Morrow is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Percussive Arts Society, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Georgia Music Educators Association. Clifton Smith, Lockport, IL Mr. Clifton Smith is an accomplished music arranger, drill writer and production designer. Ensembles performing his works have earned state championships, regional class championships, and have been broadcasted on national and local television. Mr. Smith is the former assistant director of the University of Michigan Marching Band. He holds a Master of Music Performance degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Auburn University. W Dale Warren, Fayetteville, AR Mr. W. Dale Warren is Senior Wind Band Conductor and Professor of Music in the University of Arkansas’ Department of Music. Professor Warren’s primary responsibility is conducting the UA Wind Symphony. He also teaches music education courses and is actively engaged in the Graduate Instrumental Conducting Program. From 1991-2000 Professor Warren was the Director of the UA Razorback Marching Band. Warren received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Austin Peay State University and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Kentucky. He also served on the music department faculty as Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Kentucky from 1986-1991. He has guest conducted all-district, all-region, and all- state honor bands, as well as university bands in 35 states. Professor Warren has completed a faculty residency with the Kasetsart University Wind Symphony in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Warren’s affiliation with Music for All/Bands of America he served as a member of the Educational Advisory Board and for the past 25 years as an adjudicator. In addition to serving as chairman of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Shield Award Committee, Mr. Warren is a John Philip Sousa Foundation Board Member, a Past President of the Southeastern Conference Band Directors Association, and for the past twelve years has been a member of the Institutional Review Board at Washington Regional Medical Center. Warren's affiliations include: National Band Association, Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Fraternity, Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Conductors Guild, Arkansas Bandmasters Association, Arkansas Music Educators Association, Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and Pi Kappa Lambda. Page 1 of 2 VISUAL PANEL (alphabetical by last name) Mike Anderson, Indianapolis, IN Mr. Mike Anderson has been involved in pageantry arts for more than 30 years as a performer, instructor, designer and adjudicator. Anderson serves as a program coordinator and visual designer for numerous programs throughout the United States. In addition to Bands of America, Mr. Anderson adjudicates for many other organizations, including Drum Corps International, Winter Guard International and Drum Corps Japan. He is the judges’ coordinator for the Indiana High School Color Guard Association and enjoys spending time assisting the Maui Film Festival. Tom McNally, Fishers, IN Mr. Tom McNally has been an active adjudicator in the pageantry activity since 1987. In addition to Bands of America, he has adjudicated for Drum Corps Midwest, Drum Corps International, Midwest Judges Guild, Tri-State Judges Guild, Michigan Competitive Bands and ISSMA. He has served as the visual caption head for Michigan Competitive Bands Association. Mr. McNally has been teaching high school marching bands, winter guards, drum corps and winter drum lines since 1983. Ed Warren, Brooklyn, MI Mr. Ed Warren has been a judge for Drum Corps International and Bands of America since 1990, adjudicating at the finals for both organizations many times. Mr. Warren has been a performer in a number of groups ranging from marching to orchestral. He was principal timpanist with the symphonic band and symphony orchestra at the University of Windsor, played with the Allen Park Michigan Symphony, the Windsor Youth Symphony and the Essex County Arts Concert Band. Mr. Warren has also been a guest adjudicator for Drum Corps Japan and many other state and independent contests. In addition to adjudication experience, Mr. Warren has written visual programs for numerous bands, drum corps, winter guards and winter percussion groups, including many circuit, state, regional and world finalists or winners. CHIEF JUDGE Richard Saucedo, Fishers, IN Most recently the Director of Bands and Department Chairman at the William H. Duke Center for the Performing Arts at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana, Richard L. Saucedo retired at the end of the 2012-13 school year after teaching for 31 years. Under his direction, Carmel bands received numerous state and national honors. The Indiana Bandmasters Association named Saucedo Indiana’s “Bandmaster of the Year” for 1998-99, and named him the state’s 2010 “Outstanding Music Educator.” Saucedo is a freelance arranger and composer, having released numerous marching band arrangements, concert band works and choral compositions. He is currently on the writing staff for the Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation. Saucedo travels throughout the country as an adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor and has been a featured clinician at a number of prominent conferences and clinics. He has served as Music Caption Head for the Drum Corps Midwest Judges Guild and as a music judge for Drum Corps International. Saucedo has also served as the brass composer/arranger for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and will be the brass composer/arranger for the Blue Stars in 2013. Saucedo did his undergraduate work at Indiana University in Bloomington and finished his Masters degree at Butler University in Indianapolis. Page 2 of 2 .
