A small sample of the Partnership and Outreach offerings completed by King’s in 2018-2019!

 Close collaboration between the Headteachers of the founding partner schools of LECA, Ely College, Isle of Ely Primary School and King’s Ely to help create events for the mutual benefit of all of the students and staff.  “Be a Chorister for the day”, venue run by music staff for Primary schools in Ely  The squashed tomato challenge STEM event for Primary Schools, Science, Technology and DT.  Chain Reaction event run by the Maths Dept. Schools attending The Lantern, Millfield, Robert Arkenstall, St Andrew’s and Weatheralls. The event was filmed and a joint entry for the European competition was submitted.  Drama: Quantum Theatre Company: Performance of “A Christmas Carol”, venue King’s Ely. Schools attending King’s Ely Year 5 pupils studying the Victorians, King’s Ely Year 11 pupils studying the text for GCSE English, and East Academy 117 Year 7 students.  Drama: Performance of Oresteia and drama workshop by Splendid Theatre Company, venue LECA. Attendees 200 Year 7 and Year 8 students from LECA and 16 GCSE and A level drama students from King’s Ely. Event organised by King’s Ely Drama Department.  Collaborative working with Ely College, GCSE drama students attended the dress rehearsal of Jesus Christ Superstar at King’s Ely.  Lord Robert Winston Science lecture, “Why bother with Science”, invited schools Ely College, Soham Village College, LECA and King’s Ely.  eTwinning: awareness twilight session for teachers of local schools on how to get started  Outreach choir performances and assemblies  Lego WeDo robotics and Dash coding outreach workshops have been offered to Stretham, LECA, Robert Arkenstall and Isle of Ely Primary School  Design a Mood Light in the KEJ DT workshop, school attended Primary School Year 5 and Year 6  Collaboration with partner schools for new teachers to observe experienced practitioners in a variety of settings. Linked school this year LECA.  Sharing of facilities: LECA have offered their assembly and Sports Hall for external bookings for partner schools  Recital performances and concerts from professional musicians from the Guildhall open to the public  Cambridgeshire Music Service use the music facilities at King’s Ely Junior School  Sporting festivals in Netball and Rugby  Links with Ely Sports Association Hockey and Rugby. King’s Ely offer the use of the pitches for Rugby at the school in the Michaelmas Term  Collaborative working with Isle of Ely Primary School. 7 Year 12 students from King’s Ely volunteer for 1 hour per week which counts towards the Bronze Award Scheme  Accenture management consultants innovation day for KS 3 students from partner schools LECA, St Bede’s and King’s Ely, venue King’s Ely (June 3rd 2019)  Partnership Teaching conference, July 2019  KS 1 Clara’s garden well-being garden tour of the Old Palace grounds led by the estates department. This includes a lecture on the design of the garden, a visit to see the oldest London Plane tree in the country C1670, a lecture on the machinery that is used to maintain the grounds (sit on mowers, strimmers and a variety of garden tools), a planting workshop led by the gardening team followed by a tour of the greenhouses to see the variety of bedding plants and hanging baskets.  The following 9 schools have joined the Cambridgeshire Educational Partnership set up by King’s Ely which has been endorsed by the Service Director, Education, Cambridgeshire and and Deborah Leek-Bailey OBE, Former Chair of the Department for Education ISSP (Independent State School Partnership) at the request of Lord Nash. King’s Ely, Ely College, Littleport and Academy, Little Thetford, Robert Arkenstall, Isle of Ely Primary, Ely St John, St Bede’s.
