Wednesday 7 January 2015 Progress is being made at Shotts to ensure greater provision of purposeful activity. The rise follows growing public demand for better cycling conditions and growing government appreciation that everyday cycle use benefits transport, health and environment policies. Cycling investment, however, remains far below the level needed to reach the government’s own 2020 target* for 10% of all trips to be by bike. Indeed, rather than a continuing rise to 2020, investment slips back in 15/16 - there is another £10m new money but £5m ends under another heading!
