Suzie Mcneil BIO
Suzie McNeil BIO A native of Toronto Canada, Suzie McNeil was born into a musical family. She was practically raised singing with her mother and sister, learning to collaborate from a very early age. From that foundation, Suzie evolved into a versatile, powerful artist, who combines a magnetic stage presence with vocal and multi-instrumental (piano, guitar, harmonica) ability. Throughout the years she has compiled an impressive record of musical accomplishments. Suzie is a musical Jack-of-all-trades. These have ranged from live shows beside some of North America's top acts (Alan Frew, Jeff Healey, Dave Navarro, P!NK, INXS, Gavin Rossdale) to consummate professionalism tracking in the studio (Kara Dioguardi, Steven Tyler, Buckcherry, Matt Nathanson, Foreigner) to commercial jingles, to performing in front of crowds of up to 200,000 people. Suzie was the last woman standing on CBS television's reality series Rockstar:INXS. She is featured singing duets on INXS’ release “SWITCH”, and American Idol finalist Clay Aiken’s release; “A Thousand Different Ways”. Suzie sang back-up vocals for P!NK on her North American tour, entertained the troops in Afghanistan on an armed forces tour, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies, and starred in the Toronto Debut of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” musical as the role of “Oz”. In April 2007 Suzie released her debut album Broken & Beautiful she recorded with a-list producer Marti Frederiksen which feature the Top-20 Canadian hits: “Hung Up” and “Believe”. In November 2008 she released her sophomore CD Rock-n-Roller through Universal Music where she co-wrote most of the songs with Frederiksen. -
Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-819
Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-819 PDF version Ottawa, 5 November 2010 Revised content categories and subcategories for radio This regulatory policy revises the list of content categories and subcategories for radio by adding a new subcategory 36 (Experimental Music), as announced in Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499 which sets out the new policy for campus and community radio. This regulatory policy will take effect only when the Radio Regulations, 1986 are amended to make reference to it. 1. In Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499, which sets out the new policy for campus and community radio, the Commission announced its intention to revise the content categories and subcategories for radio by adding a new subcategory 36 (Experimental Music). The Commission indicated that, in interpreting the new definition of Experimental Music, it would rely on the definitions of musique actuelle, electro acoustic and sound ecology set out in the appendix to Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2009- 418, as well as the Turntablism and Audio Art Study 2009, which was prepared to assist parties in preparing their comments for the review of campus and community radio. The Commission also provided clarification as to how it would measure the Canadian content of musical selections falling into this new subcategory at paragraphs 77 and 78 of Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499. 2. In order to implement this determination, the content categories and subcategories contained in the appendix to this regulatory policy, including the new definition of Experimental Music, will replace the content categories set out in the appendix to Public Notice 2000-14. The Commission will propose amendments to the Radio Regulations, 1986 for the purpose of removing all references to the appendix to Public Notice 2000-14 and replacing them with references to the appendix to this regulatory policy. -

Emerson Drive emerged from Canada on to the Nashville country music scene in 2001 with its own brand of hip country. Having signed with DreamWorks Nashville -- and being true instrumentalists -- the group's members distinguished themselves by playing their own instruments on all of their records, becoming one of very few bands ever signed to a major record label to do so. -

Dissertation Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of the University of Texas at Austin in Partial Fulfillment for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy The University of Texas at Austin May 2005 To Harold Ashenfelter and Amul Desai Preface A crowded, red double-decker bus pulls into the depot and comes to a rest amidst swirling dust and smoke. Its passengers slowly alight and begin to disperse into the muggy evening air. I step down from the bus and look left and right, trying to get my bearings. This is only my second day in Bombay and my first to venture out of the old city center and into the Northern suburbs. I approach a small circle of bus drivers and ticket takers, all clad in loose-fitting brown shirts and pants. They point me in the direction of my destination, the JVPD grounds, and I join the ranks of people marching west along a dusty, narrowing road. Before long, we are met by a colorful procession of drummers and dancers honoring the goddess Durga through thundering music and vigorous dance. The procession is met with little more than a few indifferent glances by tired workers walking home after a long day and grueling commute. -

Pinotfile Vol 7 Issue 9
Pinot Noir is what real wine drinkers want to drink Volume 7, Issue 9 January 1, 2009 2008 Pinot Noir All-Americans As 2008 wraps up, “Best of 2008” lists are traditional and what better analogy for great American Pinot Noir than to name the best performers “All-Americans.” As I have done the past few years, I am proud to present the Pinot Noir All-Americans of 2008, the best wines I drank out of the over 1,000 American Pinot Noirs I formally sampled over the past year. Pinot Noir in California and Oregon is now of such consistently high quality that it is difficult to single out wines that stand out from the pack. It is a testimony to the cadre of passionate winegrowers who have scoffed at the suggestion that Pinot Noir is a “heartbreak grape” and have successfully corralled the grape’s temperamental nature. The 2008 All-Americans were chosen in the spirit of celebration of the copious bounty of Pinot Noir that we are blessed with in this country. The All-Americans were selected as much for their fruity, flirty, New World hedonism as for their description-defying sensuality. These wines were technically complete, but more significantly, they displayed a powerful charisma. It is a truth that it is not what is written but what is emoted that truly defines a wine’s greatness. Veronique Drouhin, winemaker at Oregon’s Domaine Drouhin, echoes my sentiments perfectly when she said, “There are plenty of good wines in the world that give you pleasure. A great wine gives you emotion.” The stylistic split of power versus finesse or “New World” against “Old World,” is still ever present, but the superiority of either style is a tired argument. -
