Hite, Jr., Ed.D. Superintendent September 2020 Dear Students and Family Members: Now is the time for every 8th-grade student in Philadelphia to consider high school options for the 2021-2022 school year. The Directory of High Schools provides an overview of all high schools in The School District of Philadelphia including a summary of each school's programs, admissions requirements, and academic expectations. The Directory of High Schools is just one resource to help with the high school decision- making process. To choose the best high school option, it is essential that students carefully consider their interests, career plans, standardized test scores, and grades. Students should talk with family members, school counselors, teachers, and other helpful adults. Visit schoolselect.philasd.org to learn more. Students must complete the online application where they can select up to five schools. The online application will be available Friday, September 18, 2020. The deadline to complete and submit the online application is Friday, November 6, 2020, by 5:00 p.m. The 2020 Philly High School Fair is officially going virtual! All Philadelphia middle school students are encouraged to visit the virtual Philly High School Fair that will be held via the web at www.phillyhighschoolfair.com. Students and their families will learn about the diverse array of schools, their programs, application requirements, and the deadlines to apply. It will serve as a one-stop-shop for all participating public, charter and private high schools to display promotional materials, videos, contact information and posted school-led virtual events. This is a great way for students to learn about their school of interest and what program(s) it has to offer. Each Philadelphia student’s high school experience is a valuable and unique opportunity. For each student, the future is limitless. Please be sure to take advantage of all the opportunities to learn about our high school options and complete the online application beginning September 18, 2020 and before the deadline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020. Sincerely, William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D.
