She then began to write for television stations. In 1947, she opened the Isabelle Draesemer Agency and began a seventeen year career as a talent agent. In 1964, she married one of her clients, Tex Terry. Tex Terry spent more than fifty years in the entertainment industry as a vaudeville performer, western film and television actor, and as a stuntman. In the 1940s, 50s, and 60s he received billing in more than fifty movies and almost as many television shows. In 1979, the couple moved to Tex’s home in Indiana and opened a tavern together. Tex continued an active life until his death in May 1985. Isabel Terry followed in May of 2002. Scope and Contents The collection contains over seventy miscellaneous television production scripts from the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's that featured Tex Terry. Episodes from Gunsmoke and the Gene Autry Show are also included, as are a few episodes sponsored by Wells Fargo. HART William S. Hart came to the movies in 1914 from a long line of theatrical ex perience, mostly Shakespearean and while to many he is the strong, silent Western hero of film he is also the peer of John Ford as a major force in shaping and developing this genre we enjoy, the Western. In 1889 in what is to become Oklahoma Territory the Cherokee Strip is just a graz ing area owned by Indians and worked day and night be the itinerant cowboys called 'tumbleweeds'. Alas, it is the end of the old West as the homesteaders are moving in . Hart becomes involved with a homesteader's daughter and her evil brother who has a scheme to jump the line as "sooners". The scenes of the gigantic land rush is one of the most noted action sequences in film history.

These newspapers were typical of the press in the American West. Their editors were tireless boosters for their communities. They were constantly involved in personal journalistic battles with fellow news- mena These pioneer newspapermen established their papers as political organs, with hopes of winning the city and county printing contracts from the politicians in power. And the editors reflected their parti- sanship in the news columns and editorial pages. Gradually this stage of newspaper boosterism and political partisanship evolved into a one- man monopoly newspaper situation of unbiased news coverage relying on advertising for revenue. This process is evident in microcosm in towns within the Territory, and later the State of Oklahoma. In particular, this case study will show how this pattern worked in the town of Lawton, Oklahomae No important investigation ever has been made of daily newspaper operatio~s in Oklahoma, and little has been done on small town journalism anywhere.
