The Education Department is happy to announce the 2020 Winter/Spring Class Schedule. We recognize that just having classes is not enough, therefore, we have introduced workshops that will faciltate the integration and use of all the new concepts and systems provided in our classes. Each class offered will have a corresponding workshop, so please sign up for both in order to maximize your learning experience. We now need you the students to do something that will make the classes more effective, BRING A PARTNER!! Most of the classes will be useless without a partner that knows what you learned. Please note: written materials will provided to you electronically and it will 2 be your responsibility to print them out.

Many of these concepts overlap with the Improving Play of the notrump session (like making a plan, playing card Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Hand at Suit combinations, managing entries and using the auction) Contracts but here we will focus on suit specific topic such as when to pull trump, avoiding losers, establishing side Ed Schusler/ 10 suits, special hold up plays. This class is part two of basic concepts and tools for Competitive Bidding Tuesday, March 31, 2020 competing as the Opponent. This class will cover Andy Sloan as Opponent -2 balancing seat bids and bidding after an opening pre- 12 empt with partner's responses The class will cover the use of Lebensohl in situations where the opponents interfere over 1NT and when your partner makes a takeout double over a weak 2 bid in Tuesday, April 7, 2020 Lebensohl Russ Pearly either direct or balance seat. This convention will help take the guesswork out of knowing whether or not your 13 partner has few or many points

This class will cover basic defense techiques such as: Ed Schusler/ Tuesday, April 14, 2020 Basic Defense -1 Attitude vs Count vs Suit preference signals, First discard Rich Seidman 14 signals, Hold up situations, and others. A B C D

The beginning of this class/workshop will cover the use of the Lebensohl convention in situations where your partner has reversed and assumes you already Lebensohl to understand and use reverses. This convention will take Reverses combined Tuesday, April 21, 2020 the guesswork out of whether or not partner's next bid Russ Pearly with Lebensohl is forcing or not. Most of the time will be spent as a Workshop Workshop covering these three uses of Lebensohl: 1- after partner's double of a weak two bid, 2- after interference to 1NT, 3- after a reverse.
