Dr. Vinod Shah has come from family of freedom fighters. Through sheer hard work and talent he has risen above the delicate financial conditions of his parents. He did his MBBS and MD and later on received a degree in gastroenterology from USA. In Sassoon Hospitals he came across many poor patients who come to govt. hospital to seek treatment. In the evening on his way back he saw the same patients lying on the footpath whom he had treated in the hospital during day time. He saw their plight and decided to do something about the poorest of poor. He is inspired by the teachings and the spirit of service of Mahatma Gandhi, Sane Guruji, Baba Amte and Saint Mother Teresa. Initially he joined Jaycees International and his achievement there is spectacular. Later he along with his colleagues and his wife hired a small wing of Sonapur hospital at Khanapur, where he started health services. While doing so he saw the plight of poor rural elderly and reserved few cots in this same wing and thus began the oldage home. This reality, observation and experience prompted Dr. Shah to establish a voluntary social organization named "Janaseva Foundation” , in 1988. Motto of the foundation is ‘Service to Man is Service to God’ . Initially foundation started with rural hospital and oldage homes and gradually evolved into a well established, widely recognized and one of leading Charitable Organizations in Pune District. It serves the society through diverse fields like health care, elderly care, disabled care, destitute care, education, vocational and skill development training and research, care and school education of street children, construction of toilets, village development etc. Its beneficiaries include the elderly, sick, disabled, destitute, women, divorcees, poor youth and rural population etc. Foundation has 5 acres of land at Ambi Ranwadi, Block Velhe, District Pune, on Panshet Road where most of it’s projects are located in Sanghvi Complex and another 5 acres of land at Bhilarewadi, Katraj Pune. All it’s projects have their own buildings and infrastructure. Dr. Shah is the active Chairman and the guiding spirit for the sincere and devoted social workers and trustees. Janaseva Foundation is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 having registration No. E/1193 Pune dated 23/05/1988 . It is also registered under 80G and FCRA to receive donations from abroad Foundation is managed by a board of 14 trustees headed by its founder chairman, Dr. Vinod Shah. Janaseva Foundation is a non-political, non-religious,equal opportunity employer . While imparting its services foundation does not discriminate on the basis of religion, caste, creed, locality, gender etc. United Nations Organization has granted Janaseva Foundation a Special Consultative Status. Janaseva Foundation has even had a representation in United Nations Policy Page 4 of 60 Process regarding “Elderly Abuse” with the purpose of strengthening the protection of the human rights of elderly population. • Deadlock Over Cane Price Continues, Maharashtra CM to Take Final Call
NEWS FLASH –15th November, 2016 SUGAR Deadlock over cane price continues, Maharashtra CM to take final call Even as the sugarcane crushing slowly gains momentum in Maharashtra, the deadlock over cane price continues. The farmer organisations have threatened to start agitation from November 26 if their demands of higher cane price are not accepted. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis will now take a call on resolving the deadlock. An informal meeting between farmer union representatives and sugar millers regarding payment of first installment to cane farmers ended without any conclusion. The meeting was organised by Girish Bapat, state minister for public distribution, Maharashtra in the presence of Subhash Deshmukh, Maharashtra minister of cooperation at Sahkar Sankul, Pune. The meeting was attended by chairmans of sugar mills. Farmers are demanding higher payments due to rise in cultivation cost but millers have expressed their fiscal constraint to pay anything above the mandatory fair and remunerative price notified by the Union government. Meanwhile, sugar mills from Kolhapur and Sangli have agreed to pay Rs 175/tonne more than the fair remunerative price (FRP) and started crushing operations fearing diversion of cane to neighbouring state Karnataka.
