Transmission of dengue can be prevented by controlling mosquito breeding sites. Indonesia has dengue a prevention program to minimize mosquito breeding sites known as 3 M Plus. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with dengue prevention behaviour among respondents in the Lowokwaru subdistrict, an urban area in Malang, Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study used a semi-structured questionnaire that was conducted by face-to-face interview. Results: Older respondents (> 60 years and 41–60 years) showed better dengue prevention behaviour than younger respondents (21–40 years and < 21 years) (p value = 0.01). Proportionally more male respondents showed poor dengue prevention behaviour compared with female respondents (p value = 0.007). Respondents who lived in Malang for long durations showed better dengue prevention behaviour compared with those who lived there for a shorter period (p value = 0.016). Those with more family members in their households practiced better dengue prevention behaviour compared with those with fewer family members (p value = 0.004). Perception was associated with dengue prevention behaviour. Respondents who had higher perceived susceptibility showed better dengue prevention behaviour compared with those who had moderate perceptions (p value = 0.000). Conclusions: Age, gender, duration of stay in Malang, number of family members, and perception of dengue susceptibility were associated with dengue prevention behaviour.

Raya Tlogomas 246, Malang 65144 Indonesia. Abstract The increasing pollution by domestic wastewater has become an environmental issue in Indonesia, especially in big cities, one of which is Malang. Microbiology could offer a solution to this problem by employing the indigenous microbe isolate. The results of isolation, characterization, and identification of heterotrophic bacteria taken from domestic wastewater showed that; (1), there were 37 heterotrophic bacteria isolates, 15 of which were detergent tolerant; (2) the identification results of the 37 heterotrophic bacteria isolates revealed that there were four superior species based on the detergent tolerant indicator and pathogen antagonistic; they were Bacillus cereus strain BQAR-01, Bacillus thuringiensis strain MSS-2, Bacillus cereus strain JDA-1, and Bacillus sp. B31(2008). The four bacterial species could potentially be developed as the decomposer bacteria formula for domestic wastewater. Keywords: characterization, detergent tolerant, heterotrophic bacteria, domestic wastewater, formula INTRODUCTION Environmental pollution in Indonesia has been a serious issue during the last few decades, especially in big cities, including Malang. The main causes of pollution in 1940 Lud Waluyo the river, lake, and other public water bodies are the domestic waste (40%), the industrial waste (30%), and the farming waste. Currently, only around 25% of the wastewater receives certain types of treatment before being dumped to the open environment, while the rest remain untreated.

Haryono 167, Malang City, Indonesia Abstract. Public facilities have various types and functions to support people activities. Provision of public facilities in Indonesia is carried out on the base of population size and spatial approach, which for the development of new facilities used the scale and capacity of services analysis on related facility. This study aims to measures service rates of elementary school in the Malang, Surakarta and Banjarmasin City based on supply (school avalaibility) aspect, and then to identify spatial pattern of the services. As previous, the measurement was done with the administrative boundary as analysis units but then the grid/cell approach were used to obtain accurate results. Based on the analysis result, service capacity of elementary school in the Malang City defined by the mash/grid/cell approach was 271,75% meanwhile in the Banjarmasin City was 535,68% and Surakarta City was 1.510,4%. These results means that school in these three cities can meet the demand with more than 3 – 15 times than existing population size. The results also illustrates that people in these three respective cities can access elementary school not only in their administrative boundary but also they access school everywhere of their city areas. 1 Introduction The avalaibility of public facilities are quite important especially to enhance the urban growth and development.

Strategy to Enhance Indonesia’s Leading Industrial Centers Competitiveness STRATEGY TO ENHANCE INDONESIA’S LEADING INDUSTRIAL CENTERS COMPETITIVENESS Rila Anggraeni JAM Risca Fitri Ayuni 18, 1 M. Abdi Dzil I. Management Department, Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia Received, November 2019 Revised, December 2019 February 2020 Accepted, February 2020 Abstract: The industrial centerhas a significant role in supporting the national economy through its ability to absorb labor, technology transfer, and add value to products. The strength of industrial centers is its resilience in facing unstable economic conditions. Govern- ment through Nawa Cita has included industrial elements as part of the priority agenda to improve welfare through independence in the economic field. Malang is the second-largest city in East Java which has numerous industrial centers as an economic basis. The indus- trial centers in Malang City to be mentioned are the Sanan tempe chips, the Blimbing furniture industry, the Arjosari rattan industry, and the Dinoyo ceramics industry. The centers of the industry need to develop so that they can compete with products from other regions and countries. This study aims to map existing industrial centers in Malang and determine the best industrial centers or leading industrial centers by using 12 criteria of regionally superior products according to Minister of Home Affairs Regulation of Indone- sia Republic Number 9 of 2014 concerning Guidelines for Regional Superior Product Devel- opment. Furthermore, this study will analyze the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats of the leading industrial centers. Then the results of the analysis are mapped into a matrix of internal and external factors as a basis for determining strategies to improve the competitiveness of leading industrial centers.
