World’s First Principals Training Programme on Maharishi’s Consciousness Based Education Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, India in Collaboration with International Foundation of Consciousness Based Education, USA has Organised Professional Development Programme on Maharishi’s Consciousness Based Education for Principals & Teachers of middle and secondary schools from 17 August to 21 August 2009 and 26 August to 30 August 2009 at Maharishi Peace Palace, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Under the perpetual Divine guidance & blessing of His Holiness Ji and under the able leadership and guidance of Brahmachari (Dr.) Girish Chandra Varma Ji, Chairman, National Board of Directors, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group with Ms. Laura Ticciati, International Course Director and Vice-President-International Foundation of Consciousness Based Education, USA and Ms. Annie Balkema, International-Co-course Director, The Netherlands, in the history of Maharishi Movement, world’s first Principal Training Programme was organised followed by 2nd Training Programme concluded on 30 August 2009.

The Programme was inaugurated on 17th August 2009, with Guru Parampara Pujan, Vedic chanting and Maharishi Ji’s Key Note Address to Annual Conference of the American Association of Higher Education, in the year 1973. Hon’ble Br. Girish Ji, Chancellor, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Maharishi University of Management & Technology Chhattisgarh in his inaugural address said that “Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji, the founder of Consciousness Based Education, and the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programme has given simple, natural, highly effective technique to systematically unfold the latent potential of every individual. With the technique Maharishi Ji also gave the Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI), the complete principles of life into the educational system to make learning His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji meaningful, relevant, intimate, and exhilarating. In this scientific age, Maharishi has restored to its full value the theory and practical application of age-old Vedic knowledge to develop full potential of human life and society, the science of consciousness. He also added that Maharishi's world wide organization is established in over 100 countries. Participants of First Principals Training Programme The aim of Professional Development Programme was to train the Principals and Senior Teachers in Maharishi’s Consciousness Based Education who will further disseminate Maharishi’s Knowledge to 1,000 Teachers and about 15000 students of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools all over India. In the World’s First Principal Training Programme on Maharishi’s Consciousness Based Education (17 August to 21 August 2009) 54 Principals and Teachers have participated and in the second Training Programme of Maharishi’s Consciousness Based Education (26 Participants of Principals Training Programme August to 30 August 2009) 48 Principals and Teachers participated. The purpose of this professional development programme is to prepare middle and secondary school Principals and senior Teachers to teach Consciousness Based Education in Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools. The Professional Development Programme for the first year at Consciousness-Based schools is a three-part programme, conducted in a workshop format, led by the Principal as Site Coordinator of the school. Part 1: Introducing Consciousness Based Education and preparing to teach the Science of Creative Intelligence Course. 18-session seminar is the first part of the Master of Arts in Consciousness Based Education Professional Development Programme, and provides an Introduction to the foundational principles and methods of Consciousness Based Education and to the Science of Creative Intelligence Curriculum, which the teachers will begin to teach the students immediately following this course. Part 2: Deepening Understanding and Beginning to Teach the Science of Creative Intelligence. Following this course and continuing through the academic year, the teachers participate in twice-weekly workshop/classes led by the Principal. By attending these twice weekly workshops, the teachers deepen and increase their knowledge of the Science of Creative Intelligence and begin to develop the ability to apply Participants of First Principals Training Programme these Consciousness Based teaching techniques in the SCI course, and their other classes. Part 3: Learning to Apply Maharishi’s Principles of Ideal Teaching Prior to the second year of implementing Maharishi’s Principles (two day seminar, 5 hours per day). When the students are introduced to the full Consciousness Based programme for their school, the teachers begin the third part of their Professional Development Programme, in special sessions they learn more Consciousness Based Principles of Ideal Teaching in order to apply them in preparing for their first quarter (or trimester) courses. During this seminar, the teachers are also introduced to the second course in the SCI curriculum in order to be able to teach it during the upcoming academic year. He is placed in 1st position for his write up, ‘Namely The Beauty of Nature’, which is declared in the July 2009 edition of Tinkle, an international monthly for children. SUMMER CAMP IN THE SCHOOL A Summer Workshop was held in school premises for the students from class III to Class IX. The main motto of the workshop was to Personality development and social interpretation through theatre organized by Sanskar rong toli, theatre in Education Company, and national school of drama New Delhi. The workshop was from 2nd July to 29th July 09. Total 60 students from 15th different schools from greater Guwahati including MVM-I has participated. SAFURA SUMMER CAMP Safura a monthly children magazine conducted a camp for the students of class I to VII in the school premises with different items like Yoga, dance and drama, story telling, recitation, magic etc. Students from various schools of Guwahati attended the camp. The camp was for 12 days from 8th July and it was a great success as it fulfilled the needs of the students. DRAMA The school secured 1st position in state level drama competition organized by Regional Science Centre Guwahati and selected in the Zonal level competition, which was held on 24th July at BITM Kolkata. In Zonal level the school got 3rd prize and Ankita Dey got the Best actress award.
