It covers events that took place during the 1940s (from 1940 to 1949). 1 STANLEY CUP 1941 1.Boston Bruins (Milt Schmidt) (2.Detroit Red Wings, 3-4.Chicago Black Hawks, Toronto Maple Leafs) 2 1942 The beginning of the Original Six era (1942-67) in the NHL. 3 The Original Six teams were: Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. 4 STANLEY CUP 1944 1.Montreal Canadiens 5 Bill Durnan (Montreal Canadiens) (2.Chicago Black Hawks, 3-4.Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs) 6 1946 On February 17, 1946, the first exhibition ice hockey match in the Soviet Union was played by Physical Culture Institute students after a bandy game.
