THE SUNFOIL 3-DAY CUP MATCH PROGRAMME

1 The 14 contestants have been divided into two pools as depicted below: Pool A Pool B Griqualand West Eastern Province KwaZulu-Natal North West Free State South Western Districts KwaZulu-Natal Inland Western Province Namibia Each team shall play against each team in its respective pool with four cross pool matches in the opposing pool as per the fixture roster. At the conclusion of the preliminary round of fixtures, the teams that end first in the final log position of their respective pools will progress through to play a final to determine the winner. The awarding of any form of match points in the final is not applicable. In the event of the final being a draw, the teams shall be declared joint winners. The finalists and the venue for the final will be determined in the following order of priority at the conclusion of the preliminary round: › The team with the highest number of points; if still equal then › The team with the highest number of outright wins; if still equal then › The team with the highest number of cumulative bonus points; if still equal then › The team with the highest number of batting bonus points; if still equal then › The team with the highest number of bowling bonus points; if still equal then › The team with the highest runs to wicket ratio; if still equal then › The team with the lowest wickets to run ratio; if still equal › The team that hosted the higher percentage of their matches at their main venue. In the event of the team having the right to host the final, the match shall be played at its main venue. In the event of the match not being to be played at the main venue, then the opposing team shall host the final at its main venue. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 454 SUNFOIL | 3-DAY CUP PLAYING CONDITIONS In the event of both finalists being unable to host the match at their respective venues, then CSA shall determine the venue. Prize Money for Winner R 300 000.00 Draw R 150 000.00 each

2 POINTS SCORING Points will be allocated for each preliminary round match in accordance with the system described below: 2.1 For an outright win: 10 points 2.2 For a tie on a double innings: 6 points 2.3 No Match 5 points each 2.4 First innings points: Awarded only for batting and bowling performances in the first 100 overs of each first innings and retained irrespective of the match result. 2.4.1 Batting bonus points: 1 point awarded on attaining 150 runs, and 0,02 of a point for each run scored thereafter. 2.4.2 Bowling bonus points: A maximum of 4 points to be awarded, one each at the fall of the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th wicket. 2.5 If play starts when less than 10 hours playing time remains, a one innings match will be played but no bonus points will be scored. The side winning on the one innings to score 6 points. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 455 SUNFOIL | 3-DAY CUP PLAYING CONDITIONS Except as varied hereunder the Playing Conditions for the Sunfoil Series 4-Day shall apply.

1 LAW 1 – THE PLAYERS 1.1 Law 1.2 Nomination of players The following shall apply in place of Clause 1.1: If the late withdrawal of a player nominated to participate in a Sunfoil Series 4-Day, Momentum 1-Day Cup, Ram Slam T20 Challenge match necessitates the promotion of a player nominated to a CSA Provincial 3-Day Challenge match, such player shall by right, be permitted a replacement after the nomination. (Refer to Clause 2.2 – Law 2.3 Restrictions on the role of substitutes, as modified).

2 LAW 2 – SUBSTITUTES AND RUNNERS 2.2 Law 2.3 – Restrictions on the role of substitutes Law 2.3 shall be replaced by the following: Subject to the provisions of Clause 1.1, the replacement player shall by right be entitled to bat, bowl or keep wicket. If the promoted player is batting at the time and he is required to leave the match, he shall retire “not out” and his substitute will be permitted to bat later in the innings at the fall of a wicket, unless nine wickets have already fallen, in which case he shall be allowed to bat immediately if available.

3 LAW 3 – THE UMPIRES 3.1 Law 3.1 – Appointment and attendance The following shall apply in place of Law 3.1: The National Match Officials Administrator (‘NMOA’) in consultation with the CSA Appointments Committee shall appoint all Umpires to matches played in , and one on-field Umpire in the case of matches played in Namibia. Three Umpires, comprising two on-field umpires and a reserve umpire will be appointed to all matches.

5 LAW 5 – THE BALL Clause 5.1 shall be replaced by the following: 5.1 Law 5.2 – Approval and control of balls Law 5.2 shall be replaced by the following: The Host Venue shall provide 156g Kookaburra Red “Regulation” balls and spare used balls for changing during a match (minimum of 6), which shall be of the same brand. The fielding Captain or his nominee may select the ball with which he wishes to bowl from the supply provided by the Host Venue. The reserve umpire shall take a box containing at least 6 new balls to the dressing room and supervise the selection of the balls. The umpires shall retain possession of the match ball throughout the duration of the match when play is not actually taking place. During play the umpires shall periodically and irregularly inspect the condition of the ball and shall retain possession of it at the fall of a wicket, a drinks interval, or any other disruption in play. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 456 SUNFOIL | 3-DAY CUP PLAYING CONDITIONS 7 LAW 7 – THE PITCH 7.2 Law 7.4 – Changing the pitch Clause 7.2 shall apply subject to the modification of Clause 7.2.6, as follows: 7.2.6 If the decision is to abandon the match as in Clause 7.2.5, the umpires shall advise the host Chief Executive Officer or his representative and the Manager of Cricket Operations immediately following such decision. Where a match has been abandoned as a result of dangerous or unfit ground conditions, the umpires jointly, and both captains shall submit a report to the Manager of Cricket Operations within 24 hours detailing the reasons for the abandonment of the match.

16 LAW 16 – START OF PLAY; CESSATION OF PLAY Law 16 shall apply subject to the following: 16.1 Start and Cessation Times Each day shall be scheduled for 7 hours play as listed below. Session KwaZulu-Natal All other venues First 09h00 – 11h30 10h00 – 12h20 Second 12h10 – 14h25 13h00 – 15h20 Third 14h45 – 17h00 15h40 – 18h00 16.1.1 Minimum Overs in the Day Subject to clause 16.1.2 below: (a) On days other than the last day, play shall continue on each day until the completion of a minimum target of 104 overs or a minimum of 15 overs per hour) or the completion of the scheduled or rescheduled cessation time, whichever is the later but provided that play shall not continue for more than 30 minutes beyond the scheduled or rescheduled close of play time (permitted overtime). For the sake of clarity, if any of the minimum target number of overs have not been bowled at the completion of the permitted overtime, play shall cease upon completion of the over in progress. The overs not bowled shall not be made up on any subsequent day. (b) On the last day, a minimum of 89 overs (or a minimum of 15 overs per hour) shall be bowled during the playing time other than the last hour of the match where clause 16.1.6 below shall apply. If any of the minimum of 89 overs or as recalculated, have not been bowled when one hour of the scheduled playing time remains, the last hour of the match for the purposes of clause 16.1.6 shall be the hour immediately following the completion of these overs. 16.3 Minimum over rates 16.3.1 The minimum over rate to be achieved by the fielding team shall be 15 overs per hour. 16.3.2 In calculating the actual over rate for the match, allowances will be given as follows: (a) The time lost as a result of treatment given to a player by an authorised medical personnel on the field of play; 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 457 SUNFOIL | 3-DAY CUP PLAYING CONDITIONS (b) The time lost as a result of a player being required to leave the field as a result of a serious injury; (c) The time taken for all third umpire referrals and consultations and any umpire or player reviews; (d) The time lost as a result of time wasting by the batting side; and (e) The time lost due to all other circumstances that are beyond the control of the fielding side. (f) 2 minutes per wicket taken, provided that such wicket results in the subsequent batsmen immediately commencing his innings. For the avoidance of any doubt, no time allowance will be given for the final wicket of an innings or where a wicket falls immediately prior to any interval; (g) 4 minutes per drinks break taken (one per session). In the event of any time allowances being granted to the fielding team under 16.3.2 (d) above (time wasting by batting team), then such time shall be deducted from the allowances granted to such batting team in the determination of its over rate. If a side is bowled out in 3 ½ hours or less (taking into account all of the time allowances set out above) in any particular innings, no account will be taken of the actual over rate in that innings when calculating the actual over rate at the end of the match. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 458 CSA | PROVINCIAL 50 OVER CHALLENGE MATCH PROGRAMME

The awarding of any form of match points in the final is not applicable. In the event of the final being a no result, the teams shall be declared joint winners. There is no provision for a reserve day. 7 LAW 7 – THE PITCH Law 7 shall apply subject to the following: 7.1 Law 7.3 – Selection and preparation The following will apply in addition to Law 7.3: Captains, umpires and groundsmen shall co-operate to ensure that, prior to the start of any day’s play, no one bounces a ball on the pitch or strikes it with a bat to assess its condition or for any other reason, or causes damage to the pitch in any other way. Prior to the start of play, only the captain and team coach may walk on the pitch to assess its condition. Spiked footwear is not permitted. 7.2 Law 7.4 – Changing the pitch Clause 7.2 shall apply subject to the modification of Clause 7.2.6, as follows: 7.2.6 If the decision is to abandon the match as in Clause 7.2.5(a) and (b), the umpires shall advise the host Chief Executive Officer or his representative and the Manager of Cricket Operations immediately following such decision. 11 LAW 11 – COVERING THE PITCH 11.4 Law 11.4 – Removal of covers Law 11.4 shall be replaced by the following: The covers shall be removed no earlier than 5.00am and no later than 7.00am on the morning of the match, provided it is not raining at the time, but they will be replaced if rain falls prior to the commencement of play.

12 LAW 12 – INNINGS 12.1 Law 12.1 – Number of innings Law 12.1 shall be replaced by the following: All matches will consist of one innings per side, each innings being limited to a maximum of 50 overs. All matches shall be of one day’s scheduled duration.

16 LAW 16 – START OF PLAY; CESSATION OF PLAY Law 16 shall apply subject to the following: 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 461 CSA | PROVINCIAL 50 OVER CHALLENGE PLAYING CONDITIONS 16.1 Start and Cessation Times There will be 2 sessions of 3 hours and 30 minutes each separated by a 30 minute interval between innings. Session KwaZulu-Natal All other venues First 09h00 – 12h30 09h30 – 13h00 Interval 12h30 – 13h00 13h00 – 13h30 Third 13h30 – 16h30 13h30 – 17h00 16.4 Minimum Over Rates The minimum over rate to be achieved in matches will be 15 overs per hour. The actual over rate will be calculated at the end of the match by the Umpires. In calculating the actual over rate for the match, allowances will be given for the actual time lost as a result of any of the following: 16.4.1 treatment given to a player by an authorised medical personnel on the field of play; 16.4.2 a player being required to leave the field as a result of a serious injury; 16.4.3 all third umpire referrals and consultations; 16.4.4 time wasting by the batting side; and 16.4.5 all other circumstances that are beyond the control of the fielding side. In the event of any time allowances being granted to the fielding team under 16.4.4 above (time wasting by batting team), then such time shall be deducted from the allowances granted to such batting team in the determination of its over rate. 16.5 If the over rate is calculated as being under the minimum over rate of 15 overs to the hour, the following shall apply: (a) As soon as reasonably practicable the umpires shall inform the team captain and/or team manager of the relevant fielding team that the CSA Regulations have been breached and that the prescribed sanction in accordance with Clause 12.7.4 shall be applied. (b) If the umpires are of the opinion that the minimum over rate was not achieved by the fielding team by reason of events beyond its control, including (but not limited to) time wasting by the batting team, the umpires shall be entitled to amend the over rate calculation as they deem appropriate. (c) In the event of the umpires being of the opinion that the conduct of the batting team has prevented the fielding team from bowling the minimum over rate, the umpires are entitled to impose a sanction on the batting team, the maximum sanction being that which can be imposed in accordance with Clause 16.6. 16.6 Sanction No sanction may be imposed in respect of minimum over rates in the event of the batting team being bowled out, or a result is achieved, within the time determined for that innings under these conditions. In the event of the umpires having determined the over rate being below that required, the umpires shall impose the following sanctions at the end of the match: 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 462 CSA | PROVINCIAL 50 OVER CHALLENGE PLAYING CONDITIONS 16.6.1 Preliminary Round (a) For each over short of the minimum overs required – one point forfeiture. (b) If the over rate is more than 2 overs short of the minimum overs required, the captain will in addition to the sanctions imposed in Clause 16.4 above, be charged under the Rules and Code of Conduct of CSA Level 2, conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, on the basis of time wasting. 16.6.2 Final In the event of the over rate being below that specified under Clause 16.4, the Captain will be charged under the Code of Conduct, conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, on the basis of time wasting.

21 LAW 21 – THE RESULT Law 21 shall apply subject to the following: 21.4 Law 21.4 – A Tie Law 21.4 shall apply in addition to the following: If the scores are equal, the result shall be a tie and no account shall be taken of the number of wickets which have fallen. 21.8 Points for the Preliminary Round. Clause 21.8 shall apply as amended below: The points system is as follows: Win, with bonus point 5 Win, without bonus point 4 Tie 3 No Result 2 Loss 0 In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the pool winner will be determined the following order of priority: › The team with the most number of wins; › If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins; › If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points; › If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate; › The team with the higher runs to wickets ratio. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 463 CSA | PROVINCIAL T20 CHALLENGE MATCH PROGRAMME

THE CSA PROVINCIAL T20 CHALLENGE MATCH PROGRAMME

The 14 contestants shall play four matches as per the fixture roster.

At the conclusion of the programme, the team ending first on the composite log position shall be determined the winner. The winner will be determined as per clause 21.8 in these conditions. The matches will be played on the day following the conclusion of the 3-day match played between the two teams.

Three Umpires, comprising two on-field umpires and a reserve umpire will be appointed to all matches. 3.1.3 Three Umpires, comprising two on-field umpires and a reserve umpire will be appointed to all matches. 3.1.4 Neither team will have a right of objection to an umpire’s appointment. 3.1.5 The umpires shall be present at the ground at least two (2) hours before the scheduled start of play. 3.2 Third Umpire TV Replay System 3.2 Shall not apply. 3.6 Light meters Clause 3.6 shall be replaced by the following: 3.6.1 It is the responsibility of the Host Venue to supply a light meter to the match officials to be used in accordance with these playing conditions. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 465 CSA | PROVINCIAL T20 CHALLENGE PLAYING CONDITIONS 3.6.2 All light meters shall be uniformly calibrated. 3.6.3 The umpires shall be entitled to use light meter readings as a guideline for determining whether the light is unfit/fit for play. 3.6.4 Light meter readings may accordingly be used by the umpires: (a) To determine whether there has been at any stage a deterioration or improvement in the light. (b) As benchmarks for the remainder of a stoppage, match. 3.7 Use of lights The utilization of artificial lighting is not permitted in any match.

12 LAW 12 – INNINGS Law 12 shall apply subject to the following (see also clauses 15 and 16 below): 12.5 Extra Time Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended, the scheduled hours of play shall be extended up to a maximum of 30 minutes. 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 466 CSA | PROVINCIAL T20 CHALLENGE PLAYING CONDITIONS 16 LAW 16 – START OF PLAY; CESSATION OF PLAY Law 16 shall apply subject to the following: 16.1 Law 16.1 – Start and Cessation Times There will be two sessions of 1 hour and 25 minutes, each separated by a 20 minute interval between innings. Session First 10h00 – 11h25 Interval 11h25 – 11h45 Second 11h45 – 13h10 Refer also to Clause 15.1. 16.2 Minimum Over Rates The minimum over rate to be achieved in a match will be 14.11 overs per hour. 16.2.1 In calculating the actual over rate for the match, allowances will be given for the actual time lost as a result of any of the following: (a) treatment given to a player by an authorised medical personnel on the field of play; (b) a player being required to leave the field as a result of a serious injury; (c) all third umpire referrals and consultations; (d) time wasting by the batting side; and (e) all other circumstances that are beyond the control of the fielding side. In the event of any time allowances being granted to the fielding team under 16.2 (d) above (time wasting by batting team), then such time shall be deducted from the allowances granted to such batting team in the determination of its over rate. In addition to the allowances as provided for above, – in the case of an innings that has been reduced due to any delay or interruption in play, an additional allowance of 1 minute for every full 3 overs by which the innings is reduced will be granted. – an additional allowance of 1 minute will be given for each of the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th wickets taken during an innings. If a side is bowled out within the time determined for that innings pursuant to these playing conditions (taking into account all of the time allowances set out above), the fielding side will be deemed to have complied with the required minimum over rate. 16.2.2 The over rate will be calculated at the end of the match by the umpires. If the over rate is calculated as being under the minimum over rate of 15 overs to the hour, the following shall apply: (a) As soon as reasonably practicable the umpires shall inform the team captain and/ or team manager of the relevant fielding team that the CSA Regulations 2015/2016 SUMMER HANDBOOK 467 CSA | PROVINCIAL T20 CHALLENGE PLAYING CONDITIONS have been breached and that the prescribed sanction in accordance with Clause 16.2.3 shall be applied. (b) If the umpires are of the opinion that the minimum over rate was not achieved by the fielding team by reason of events beyond its control, including (but not limited to) time wasting by the batting team, the umpires shall be entitled to amend the over rate calculation as he deems appropriate. (c) In the event of the umpires being of the opinion that the conduct of the batting team has prevented the fielding team from bowling the minimum over rate, the umpires are entitled to impose a sanction on the batting team, the maximum sanction being that which can be imposed in accordance with Clause 16.2.3. 16.2.3 Sanction No sanction may be imposed in respect of minimum over rates in the event of the batting team being bowled out, or a result is achieved,within the time determined for that innings under these conditions. In the event of the umpires having determined the over rate being below that required, the umpires shall impose the following sanctions at the end of the match: Preliminary Round (a) For each over short of the minimum overs required – one point forfeiture. (b) If the over rate is more than 2 overs short of the minimum overs required, the captain will in addition to the sanctions imposed in Clause 16.2.3 (a) above, be charged under the Rules and Code of Conduct of CSA Level 2, conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, on the basis of time wasting. Qualifier and Final (a) In the event of the over rate being below that specified under Clause 16.2, the Captain will be charged under the Code of Conduct, conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, on the basis of time wasting.

A team’s run rate will be calculated by reference to the runs scored in an innings divided by the number of overs.balls faced. Refer Appendix 7.

APPENDIX 7 Bonus Point System

1 Bonus point for any team that achieves victory with a run rate 1.25 times that of the opposition. Where a side is all out, the number of overs to be used is the maximum number of overs that side was otherwise eligible to face. Where matches are shortened and targets revised through the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern system, bonus run rates and bonus defensive targets are derived as a function of the revised target score and maximum overs. Whenever a target, or revised target, is set, the exact number of overs.balls within which the side batting second must achieve this target in order to gain the bonus point should be announced. Once these overs.balls have been bowled, if the target has not then been achieved the bonus point cannot be gained by any subsequent event, eg a multiple scoring shot, or extras.
