SOUTHWEST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM #3 Mangum Fire Monday, June 29, 2020 Public Information: (602) 345-0469 Media Information: (602) 456-0878 Email: [email protected] Size: 71,450 acres Containment: 63% Cause: Under Investigation Location: Origin 30 Miles SE of Fredonia Total Personnel: 497 Incident Commander: Dave Gesser Strong Red Flag Winds Test Mangum Fire Lines As predicted, strong wind gusts yesterday tested fire lines constructed over the last three weeks on the Mangum fire. By late afternoon, some internal smoke was detected along with some isolated smoke near containment lines that was quickly suppressed. Another round of red flag conditions will occur today as part of a passing front. Today firefighters will continue conducting suppression repair and secure the fire’s edge while positioned to respond to another round of red flag conditions. Two residences along House Rock remain in “Ready” status. Tuesday the Gila Las Cruces Zone incident management team, led by Incident Commandeer Pedro Valenzuela, will assume command from Incident Commander Dave Gesser’s type 2 team. Adequate resources will remain with the fire to complete suppression repair and continue to manage its security. It has been our pleasure to work with you. Closures: Forest Road 22 is closed between the junction of the 422 road and 429 roads. Highways 67 and 89A are now open to public travel.
