  • PATHS to PARTICIPATION How to Help Hunters and Target Shooters Try New Shooting Sports Activities
PATHS TO PARTICIPATION How to help hunters and target shooters try new shooting sports activities. Overview The purpose of this project is to help improve hunting and shooting sports marketing efforts by describing how current hunters and shooters can be encouraged to try other shooting activities. To achieve this, a custom survey was fielded through NSSF partner organizations from June 2017 to August 2017. Qualified survey respondents were those who participated in hunting or recreational shooting at least once within the past three years. Qualified respondents were then asked questions about their introduction and evolution through various hunting and shooting activities. Previous and current activities, as well as activities they would be interested in trying, were all evaluated. All individuals in this analysis were at least moderately interested in the addressed activity, as determined by a survey question. The sample for this study included individuals recruited by NSSF partner organizations. The results are not representative of the population of hunters and shooters, but rather the constituency of NSSF’s partner organizations. The results are not meant to be representative of all hunters and shooters, but instead were designed to support hunter and shooter retention efforts by explaining interest levels in new shooting sports activities and how to best help current hunters and shooters try new activities. As a result, these results do not focus on how to recruit new, first time participants to the hunting and shooting sports, but instead focus on how to encourage our current customers to try new activities. 2 Introduction As is normal, people frequently take on new recreational activities and drop others.

  • 30 30 Reloading Manual
30 30 reloading manual Continue .30-30 Winchester Chuck Hawks Illustration courtesy of Hornady Mfg. Co. Over the years, standard factory loads for the .30-30 Winchester included 150 cereals and 170 grain flat point bullets from either JHP or JSP. The ballistic coefficient (BC) for the Speer 150 grain bullet is 0.268 and the section density (SD) is 0.226. For the 170 grain Speer bullet, B.C. is .304 and the SD is .256. The standard 150 loads of grain plant from large ammunition businesses have a muzzle speed (MV) of 2390 fps (previously 2400 fps), and 1,902 ft. lbw energy muzzle (ME). The 170 grain load plant has AN MV 2200 fps, and a ME of 1,827 feet. In addition, Winchester offers a premium High Load Factory with a 150 grain Power-Point Plus bullet at MV 2480 fps with 2,049 ft lbs. The plant loaded 125 grain bullets at 2,570 fps and 160 grain bullets at 2,300 fps are sometimes offered. And Remington offers their Load Accelerator, 55 grain .224 PSP sabotaged by the bullet on the MV 3400 fps. Conventional plant slugs loaded for .30-30 have a flat dot or round nose design (except for the Remington Accelerator varmint load) because the cartridges in the tubular logs of the traditional Marlin and Winchester lever-action rifles ride in a straight line, with the nose of a single bullet touching the primer round in front of it. Note, however, that the ballistic coefficient for the 150 grain flat point .30-30 bullet is slightly better than B.C.

  • To See the Updated Version of the OFAH's Preliminary Report On
PRELIMINARY REPORT Canadian use and value of non-restricted firearms prohibited under SOR/2020-96 Submitted Photo Produced by the OFAH September 2020 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY he Preliminary Report on the Canadian use and value of non-restricted firearms prohibited under SOR/2020-96 is intended to better inform the general public, political, and legal discussions that are happening right now about the amended regulations (SOR/2020-96) Tintroduced on May 1, 2020 that prohibited a large number of firearms in Canada. To our understanding, this is the only comprehensive and cohesive examination of the uses and estimated financial values of previously non-re- stricted firearms prohibited under SOR/2020-96, including any available government impact analyses and rationalization for the prohibitions. The results of this preliminary report are intended to provide a qualitative list of previously non-restricted firearms to show the categorial uses by Canadians, but is not able to quantify how many people own or use these firearms, the frequency of uses, or the collective financial value of the firearms being prohibited. The preliminary report identifies the specific hunting and sporting uses as identified through a survey for 64 previously non-restricted firearms that are listed in the RCMP’s Firearms Reference Table (FRT) as prohibited by SOR/2020-96. There are many other newly prohibited firearms that were not reported by survey respondents, as well as many identified firearms that meet the new prohibition thresholds for bore diameter and muzzle energy that are not yet listed in the FRT. The number of non-restricted firearms prohibited under the amended regulations is much higher than 64, but the report is limited to those firearms where specific ‘use’ information was provided through the survey.
