30 30 reloading manual

Continue .30-30 Winchester Chuck Hawks Illustration courtesy of Mfg. Co. Over the years, standard factory loads for the .30-30 Winchester included 150 cereals and 170 grain flat point bullets from either JHP or JSP. The ballistic coefficient (BC) for the Speer 150 grain bullet is 0.268 and the section density (SD) is 0.226. For the 170 grain Speer bullet, B.C. is .304 and the SD is .256. The standard 150 loads of grain plant from large ammunition businesses have a muzzle speed (MV) of 2390 fps (previously 2400 fps), and 1,902 ft. lbw energy muzzle (ME). The 170 grain load plant has AN MV 2200 fps, and a ME of 1,827 feet. In addition, Winchester offers a premium High Load Factory with a 150 grain Power-Point Plus bullet at MV 2480 fps with 2,049 ft lbs. The plant loaded 125 grain bullets at 2,570 fps and 160 grain bullets at 2,300 fps are sometimes offered. And Remington offers their Load Accelerator, 55 grain .224 PSP sabotaged by the bullet on the MV 3400 fps. Conventional plant slugs loaded for .30-30 have a flat dot or round nose design (except for the Remington Accelerator varmint load) because the cartridges in the tubular logs of the traditional Marlin and Winchester lever-action rifles ride in a straight line, with the nose of a single bullet touching the primer round in front of it. Note, however, that the ballistic coefficient for the 150 grain flat point .30-30 bullet is slightly better than B.C. for a long range of .224 spitzer bullet for .223/5.56 NATO. Of course, cartridges designed for use in a single shot and bolt-action .30-30 rifles can be rebooted with spitting (pointed) bullets. Hornady's LeverEvolution .30-30 ammunition significantly increases the .30-30 payload range for tube-magazine rifles. Using a Flex-Tip spitzer bullet with bc .330 on the MV 2400 fps, this load aligns the trajectory and extends the useful kill range of .30-30 to around 250 yards. Setting a sighting of .30- 30 so that Winchester High 150 grain-winding load hits the dead at 200 yards and the trajectory looks like this: 3.3 inches high at 100 yards, 2.8 euros for 150 yards, 0 for 200 yards, -5.7 for 250 yards, and -14.7 by 300 yards. The point of empty range .30-30 is created in this way, exceeds 225 yards for animal-sized deer. With the standard Winchester Silvertip 170 grain load plant, it's probably best to zero the rifle to hit 2.9 high per 100 yards. Thus, the bullet strikes only 1.8 inches low at 200 yards. Thus, the sighted .30-30 has an MPBR (c/- 3) 211 yards. The recharder has access to a greater variety of bullet scales than the plants offer. These include 110 grains, 125 grains, 130 grains, 150 grains and 170 grain bullets. Premium .30-30 bullets such as the 150 grain Barnes X-Bullet and the 170 grain Nosler Section Bullets are available for recharger, A good choice if the .30-30 rifle should be used on a tight play. Conventional soft point bullets often give faster kills to CXP2 class games. Manual loads can significantly duplicate factory loads, but can not exceed them by a significant amount. Many shooters don't realize that the .30-30 is potentially an exceptionally accurate . Carefully assembled reloads, fired from a customized and sighted rifle, will help realize the potential accuracy of .30-30. Because most .30-30 cartridges are shot in the lever of action rifles that lock like the back of a bolt and lack the power of bolt action to extract dirty or oversized cases, it is generally recommended that chargers full length resize .30-30 brass. I have always followed this advice and I have never had a problem. It is also recommended to compress reloads, which will be used in rifles with tubular logs. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't follow that advice. Perhaps because I have a full length to resize my .30-30 cases, neck strain has always been enough to keep 150 grain bullets (weight I prefer) in place without pressing in both my Marlin 336 and Winchester 94 rifles. However, the 9D does not harm, as long as the bullet has a 9th-hand cannel. Here are some basic .30-30 specifications of interest to manual loaders: slug diameter .307-.308, COL maximum 2.455, maximum case length 2.039, MAP 38,000 cups. The average level of burning rifle powders work best at .30-30 with bullets in the popular range weighing 150-170 grains. Examples of popular powders are IMR 3031, IMR 4895, H335, H4895, RL-15 and W748. For decades I have used IMR 3031 for 150 grain Speer or 150 grain Sierra Flat Point slugs and CCI or Winchester primers with excellent results. A guide to Hodgdon No. 26 shows that 31.0 grains of IMR 3031 powder will lead 150 grain bullets to MV 2184 fps, and 33.0 grain IMR 3031 will lead 150 grain bullets to MV 2364 fps. The same source shows that 30.0 grain H4895 powder will yield 170 grain slug MV 1919 fps, and 32.0 grain H4895 will yield 170 bullet MV 2212 fps. All of these Hodgdon loads used standard large rifle primers and were chronographed in 24 test barrels. In the list below, you can find all the rifle reloading data that we currently have available. For flexible use, we provide reboot data in metric and imperial measurement systems, i.e. the weight of the charge in grams and grains, as well as the snout speed in meters and feet per second. All rifle loads on these pressure pages are checked according to the C.I.P. Listed maximum load should never be exceeded. Please note that due to safety rules, we cannot offer or recommend loads or bullets that are not available on this site. We wish you a successful recharge with Vihtavuori premium rifle powders! All this information about the reboot was provided by Nammo Lapua Oy and Nammo Vihtavuori Oy. The data given here were obtained in laboratory conditions in strict accordance with CIP (Commission International Permanente) rules on 13 June 1990 and 9 November 1993. These maximum loads have been identified in the with the appropriate CIP/SAAMI maximum pressure specification, depending on what is below. These testing methods have been found to be safe worldwide.
