Yantai has become as beloved a name to lovers of Chinese wines as is Bordeaux to lovers of French wines. Since Yantai is located very close to the sea, Yantai’s culture is also deeply tied to the coast. Yantai Hill, in the north of the city proper and surrounded by sea on three sides, houses a large collection of colonial-era Western architecture, including a famous lighthouse you can climb. The buildings have been well preserved, and the park is renowned as a living museum of Western treaty port architecture. 3 HISTORY & NATURAL WONDERS Penglai has long been a popular tourist destination. There is a whole complex of impressive architecture, so you will need a whole day to explore this mystical place. Penglai Pavilion (Penglaige) is often referred to as a place of the gods in Chinese mythology, thanks to its stunningly beautiful scenery. For example, the well-known legend of Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea was said to take place here. The Pavilion, about 1000 years’ old, is perched on a cliff top, overlooking the sea. It is considered as one of the four greatest ancient pavilions in China. 4 CUISINE Shandong is known as the hometown of Lu (Shandong) cuisine. Bordered by sea, seafood is naturally in abundance. Therefore, the ingredients of many dishes are seafood based, often consisting of sea-cucumbers, abalones, scallops, crabs and prawns. Wheat-based dishes are also very popular. For instance, Fushan Noodles and Tiemian-Guobing (baked cake) are both famous dishes. There are also a variety of local snacks, such as the Fish Dumplings, Penglai Noodles, Pansi cake and Yantai Menzi (bean jelly fried with shrimp paste and seasonings). 5 INDUSTRY Growth - Yantai’s GDP surpassed $110bn in 2018. - It is currently the second largest industrial city in Shandong, next to Qingdao. - It is also the cradle of Chinese wine production, being home to the largest wine production base in all of Asia. A-570-909 Administrative Review POR: 8/1/2018 - 7/31/2019 Public Document E&C/V: BB December 14, 2020 MEMORANDUM TO: Joseph A. Laroski Jr. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Negotiations FROM: James Maeder Deputy Assistant Secretary for Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Operations SUBJECT: Decision Memorandum for the Preliminary Results of the Antidumping Duty Administrative Review: Certain Steel Nails from the People’s Republic of China; 2018-2019 I. SUMMARY The Department of Commerce (Commerce) is conducting an administrative review of the antidumping duty (AD) order on certain steel nails (nails) from the People’s Republic of China (China) for the period of review (POR) from August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2019. We initiated this administrative review with respect to 308 companies.1 We subsequently selected two of these companies as mandatory respondents, Shandong Oriental Cherry Hardware Group Co. Ltd. (Shandong Oriental) and Tianjin Zhonglian Metals Ware Co., Ltd. (Zhonglian). We preliminarily determine that Zhonglian made sales of subject merchandise at prices below normal value (NV). In addition, we preliminarily determine that nine companies, including Zhonglian, are eligible for a separate rate, 10 companies had no shipments, and 287 companies, including Shandong Oriental, are part of the China-wide entity. Finally, we are rescinding this review with respect to The Stanley Works (Langfang) Fastening Systems Co., Ltd. and Stanley Black & Decker Inc. (collectively, Stanley). 1 We note that we inadvertently initiated a review of one company twice, once as “Tianjin Jinghai County Hongli Industry & Business Co., Ltd.“ and again as “Tianjin Jinghai County Hongli Industry and Business Co., Ltd.” We are treating these companies as the same entity for purposes of this segment of the proceeding.

  • UC Berkeley Phonology Lab Annual Report (2009)
UC Berkeley Phonology Lab Annual Report (2009) The Phonology of Incomplete Tone Merger in Dalian1 Te-hsin Liu [email protected] 1. Introduction The thesis of tone merger in northern Chinese dialects was first proposed by Wang (1982), and further developed by Lien (1986), the migration of IIb (Yangshang) into III (Qu) being a common characteristic. The present work aims to provide an update on the current state of tone merger in northern Chinese, with a special focus on Dalian, which is a less well-known Mandarin dialect spoken in Liaoning province in Northeast China. According to Song (1963), four lexical tones are observed in citation form, i.e. 312, 34, 213 and 53 (henceforth Old Dalian). Our first-hand data obtained from a young female speaker of Dalian (henceforth Modern Dalian) suggests an inventory of three lexical tones, i.e. 51, 35 and 213. The lexical tone 312 in Old Dalian, derived from Ia (Yinping), is merging with 51, derived from III (Qu), in the modern system. This variation across decades is consistent with dialects spoken in the neighboring Shandong province, where a reduced tonal inventory of three tones is becoming more and more frequent. However, the tone merger in Modern Dalian is incomplete. A slight phonetic difference can be observed between these two falling contours: both of them have similar F0 values, but the falling contour derived from Ia (Yinping) has a longer duration compared with the falling contour derived from III (Qu). Nevertheless, the speaker judges the contours to be the same. Similar cases of near mergers, where speakers consistently report that two classes of sounds are “the same”, yet consistently differentiate them in production, are largely reported in the literature.

International Forum on Management, Education and Information Technology Application (IFMEITA 2016) Traffic Simulation of Hongqi Elevated Road in Yantai Feng Zhua, Chengxuan Caob State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing 100044, China. a15125815@ bjtu.edu.cn, [email protected] Keywords: Traffic simulation, Hongqi Elevated Road, VISSIM. Abstract. With the increasing number of vehicles in Yantai, the downtown traffic volume is increasing. Hongqi Road, the main road in Yantai exists the traffic congestion problems. Yantai Planning Bureau proposed to construct for viaduct this road. This design is mainly based on the planning and design of the elevated road in Yantai Hongqi Road (Hongqi Road intersection-Shanhai Road intersection). We used the VISSIM micro simulation system to carry out the simulation of the elevated road in Hongqi Road, and the stops and queue length are the evaluation indices for quantitative evaluation. Then through the evaluation indices and specific data obtained by simulation, we analyze the selection of the scheme and draw the final plan of the construction of the elevated road, which was provide a good reference for the planning and construction of Hongqi elevated road. Introduction The emergence of the viaduct is a very important detail in the course of the evolution of the city. It reflects the city's increasingly crowded trends and the city's displacement in space form (from a horizontal plane to a vertical section) [1]. After Hongqi elevated road built, this east-west freeway will remain basically smooth all the way, this will further widen the urban framework, improve the speed of vehicle driving and the traffic capacity of Hongqi road, guarantee the none-congestion of the backbone, increase the efficiency of the green time and reduce the traffic delay.
