No guests or spouses. MEDIA PARKING Lot 2: in the Casa Palmero garage, across from the Media Center Lot 8: behind the practice range, across from the Equestrian Center MEDIA SHUTTLE Begins Wednesday, Feb. 7. From 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. shuttles circulate between Media Lot 8 and the Media Center (After 6:00 p.m. transportation is available from media center) PHOTO/VIDEO IDENTIFICATION Photographers must wear a wristband or sticker in plain sight at all times while on the grounds. CAMERA STORAGE Lockers will be provided for credentialed media in the foyer of the Media Center on a first-come, space-available basis. Pebble Beach Company, nor the tournament, is not liable for stored equipment. INTERVIEW PROCEDURES Daily interviews with leading and appropriate professional contestants are to be conducted by the PGA TOUR, at the golf courses and in the media center. Teams rotate each of the three days with the final round played the fourth day at Pebble Beach. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the only tournament on the PGA TOUR in which amateur partners play through the final day if, as a pro-am team, they make the cut. Trenham 2000 to 2009 2000 Jack Connelly was elected president of the PGA of America and John DiMarco won the New Jersey Open 2001 Terry Hatch won the stroke play and the match play tournaments at the PGA winter activities in Port St. Lucie 2002 The Section hosted the PGA of America national meeting at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel in Philadelphia 2003 Jim Furyk won the U.S. Open, Greg Farrow won the N.J. Open, Tom Carter won 3 times on the Nationwide Tour 2004 Pete Oakley won the Senior British Open 2005 Will Reilly was the PGA of America’s “ Junior Golf Leader” and Rich Steinmetz was on the PGA Cup Team 2006 Jim Furyk played on his fifth straight Ryder Cup Team, won the Vardon Trophy and two PGA Tour events 2007 In October the Philadelphia PGA and the Variety Club broke ground on the Variety Club’s 3-hole golf course 2008 Tom Carpus won the PGA of America’s Horton Smith Award and Hugh Reilly received the President Plaque 2009 Mark Sheftic finished second in the PGA Professional National Championship and played on the PGA Cup Team 2000 Jim Furyk won the Doral Open on the Doral Golf Resort’s Blue Course in the first week of March. The course nicknamed the “ Blue Monster” had been toughened in 1996 by adding 27 bunkers, which most of the play- ers didn’t care for. In 1999 the course had been reworked to its original Dick Wilson design, but now most of the players thought the course was too easy.

Trenham 1950 to 1959 Contents 1950 Ben Hogan won the U.S. Open at Merion and Henry Williams, Jr. was runner-up in the PGA Championship. 1951 Ben Hogan won the Masters and the U.S. Open before ending his eleven-year association with Hershey CC. 1952 Dave Douglas won twice on the PGA Tour while Henry Williams, Jr. and Al Besselink each won also. 1953 Al Besselink, Dave Douglas, Ed Oliver and Art Wall each won tournaments on the PGA Tour. 1954 Art Wall won at the Tournament of Champions and Dave Douglas won the Houston Open. 1955 Atlantic City hosted the PGA national meeting and the British Ryder Cup team practiced at Atlantic City CC. 1956 Mike Souchak won four times on the PGA Tour and Johnny Weitzel won a second straight Pennsylvania Open. 1957 Joe Zarhardt returned to the Section to win a Senior Open put on by Leo Fraser and the Atlantic City CC. 1958 Marty Lyons and Llanerch CC hosted the first PGA Championship contested at stroke play. 1959 Art Wall won the Masters, led the PGA Tour in money winnings and was named PGA Player of the Year. 1950 In early January Robert “Skee” Riegel announced that he was turning pro. Riegel who had grown up in east- ern Pennsylvania had won the U.S. Amateur in 1947 while living in California. He was now playing out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. At that time the PGA rules prohibited him from accepting any money on the PGA Tour for six months.

    Swamp Thing Sawgrass CC, 'monster' host of the Players from 1977-81, was an equal opportunity destroyer. It messed with the minds--and swings--of all comers difficult home game: The Tournament Players Championship moved around for three years before commissioner Beman (left inset) relocated it to Sawgrass CC (14th hole shown). By Ron Whitten Photos by Golf Digest Resource Center May 4, 2009 Long before there was TPC Sawgrass, there was the TPC at Sawgrass: the Tournament Players Championship (now the Players) at Sawgrass CC. The original Sawgrass, located across Florida Highway A1A from its successor, was a residential development/resort course pumped from a swamp hard against the Atlantic shoreline south of Jacksonville, designed with myriad humps and bumps by the late Ed Seay (before he became partners with Arnold Palmer) to resemble Troon, if Troon had palms and ponds. Sawgrass hosted the tour's marquee event for five years, from 1977 to 1981. We forget now just how ferocious Sawgrass was back then, how it set the tone for Pete Dye's subsequent TPC Sawgrass. Sawgrass was the frying pan to TPC's fire. It was Swamp Thing to Dye's Creature from the Black Lagoon. It was the storm before the tsunami. patience was a must: McCullough (top) started fast with a 66 and held on to finish second in '77. Floyd (middle) called second-round conditions "damn near unplayable." That was an appraisal with which J.C. Snead (bottom) wouldn't disagree--during the windblown day his hat hit his ball, causing a penalty.
