PAGE 4 HONKERS COACHES 13 DESKAHEH BOMBERRY MGR Deskaheh “Bomber” Bomberry is in his first season as the Field Manager for the Rochester Honkers. Bomber will embark on his 19th season as a Sacramento City College assistant coach in the spring of 2021, serving as the Panthers’ pitching coach and recruiting coor- dinator. Since moving to SCC, 49 pitchers have transferred to NCAA Division 1 universities, 17 have signed professional contracts, and four have reached the Major Leagues.

In 2000, Deskaheh was an assistant coach for the Chatham Athletics of the Cape Cod League. Eight players from that team went on to play in the Major Leagues. Deskaheh has spent the last three summers assisting USA Baseball with the selection of the 18U national team. Deskaheh began his collegiate coaching career in 1996 at Eastern Kentucky University. At EKU, Bomber was responsible for the development of the pitching staff and coordinated their recruiting efforts. In his playing career, Bomber played two seasons at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento. Following his CRC career, he transferred to Sonoma State and played two seasons for SSU. Bomber received his Bachelor of Arts from Sonoma State in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Bomber is also a full-time instructor at SCC. Deskaheh and his wife Rosanne live in East Sacramento with their daughter, Ryan. 15 MARC MUMPER ASST. COACH Marc Mumper is in his first season as a Rochester Honkers assistant coach, serving as the team’s first base and infield coach. Mumper joined the Metropolitan State-Denver baseball program as an assis- tant coach in August 2019 and will join Abeline Christian in the fall.

He joined the Roadrunners after completing his playing career at NCAA Division I Grand Canyon, where he was a three-year starter and hit .269 with a .395 on-base percentage as a senior. The Antelopes won back-to-back Western Athletic Conference championships in 2017 and 2018. Mumper, a Colorado native and former 37th-round pick in the 2015 MLB draft by the Colorado Rockies, works with team’s infielders, as well as assisting with hitting and baserunning. Primarily a shortstop, Mumper posted a strong career .955 fielding percentage at Grand Canyon, committing just three errors while fielding at a .972 clip as a senior. Mumper’s father, Dave, coached high school baseball in Colorado for 32 years, and is in the Colorado Dugout Club Hall of Fame.

Prior to joining Abeline Christian and MSU Denver, Mumper worked as an assistant coach with the Canyon Thunder baseball organization in Arizona. Mumper graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Missouri. 16 AUSTIN SPAINHOUR ASST. COACH Austin Spainhour is in his first season as a Rochester Honkers as- sistant coach, serving as the team’s third base and catching coach. “Spain” will enter his third season as an assistant coach at Sacramen- to City College in the spring of 2021, where his role includes coaching the catchers and assisting with the hitters. After playing for the Pan- thers in 2014 and 2015, he received a scholarship to play at California State University, Monterey Bay. Austin spent two seasons playing for the Otters before returning to coach at Sac City.

Austin received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from California State University, Monterey Bay and is currently working towards his Master’s Degree from the United States Sports Academy. Outside of Rochester and Sac City, Austin is the Director of Baseball Operations at Downtown Baseball, a development-based baseball academy in Sacramento.
