Possible Exemplary Response: The sentence from page 126 affects the tone of the story. In the beginning, Percy is trying to figure out why so many strange things happen to him and how he fits in at Camp Half-blood. However, the fact that he is the Son of the Sea God changes the story’s tone to foreboding. Percy just learned that , Poseidon, and were not supposed to have children with mortals since World War II and swore a very serious oath on the River . The breaking of this oath opens the possibility of a new fight between Hades and Poseidon.
