01 Campus experience: University of Helsinki The University of Helsinki Campus experience will provide an opportunity to visit a world-class research university and to see two of its four campus areas, both very different in style. The historical City Centre Campus is a combination of traditional 19th century and modern buildings. The Kumpula Campus for natural sciences is a later addition to the university and has top-class laboratory facilities in physics, chemistry, computer science and others. Participants will be welcomed by a senior management representative and will receive information on the state of the art of the university, especially concerning its internationalisation efforts. An important aspect of the Campus experience is the opportunity to meet current international students, student union representatives and to engage with internationalisation specialists from various teams, ranging from mobility and admissions to international staff services and strategic support for international education. Participants will hear from prominent researchers at the Kumpula Campus, while the focus in the City Centre Campus will be on student well-being. Participants will be split into two different groups allowing a better experience. http://www.eaie.org/helsinki Page 1 of 2 Time Activity (group one) 09:00–10:00 Introduction to higher education in Finland 10:00–10:15 Buses depart from Messukeskus 10:35 Arrival at Kumpula Science Campus 10:45–11:00 Introduction to the University of Helsinki and the Kumpula Campus 11:00–11:45 Talk on prominent University of Helsinki research, with Q&A 11:45–12:15 International student testimonials, with Q&A 12:15 Lunch 13:15 Departure for City Centre Campus 13:45 Arrival at City Centre Campus, walk-through the main library, Alexandria IT centre and Porthania building 14:05–14:20 Welcome by university leadership representative 14:20–15:15 Talk on student well-being, including a stretching session for participants 15:15–16:00 UH Student Union’s role in internationalisation, and student well- being 16:00 Buses depart for Messukeskus from Senate Square Time Activity (group two) 09:00–10:00 Introduction to higher education in Finland 10:00–10:15 Buses depart from Messukeskus 10:40 Arrival at City Centre Campus, walk-through the main library, Alexandria IT centre and Porthania building 11:00–11:20 Welcome by university leadership representative and introduction to the university 11:20–12:15 Talk on student well-being, including a stretching session for participants 12:15–13:00 UH student union’s role in internationalisation, and student well- being 13:00 Departure for Kumpula Science Campus 13:30 Arrival at Kumpula Science Campus 13:35 Lunch 14:35–14:45 Introduction to the Kumpula Campus 14:45–15:30 Talk on prominent University of Helsinki research, with Q&A 15:30–16:00 International student testimonials, with Q&A 16:00 Buses depart for Messukeskus http://www.eaie.org/helsinki Page 2 of 2 .
